Getting baptized at 14 + 12 ow :( I would try and visit/keep communication open as much as possible. If you are legally allowed to visit them but they are told to shun you by their mom, is there a legal way to make sure you still get to communicate?

Why did they not try to 'Save' me?
by AK - Jeff ini have pondered this question on many occasions.
when i began to have 'doubts' and began to 'question' some doctrine, and particularly the lack of christian love, very little effort was made to 'snatch me out of the fire' as elders are admonished to do.
i have always wondered why we as jw's would spend countless hours trying to start bible studies with 'wordly' people, while at the same time ignoring those who are moving away from dead center of the organization.

I often wondered the same thing - when I was a dub I had straight down the line friends as far as the truth was concerned, knowing that they would have nothing to do with me if I stopped was what kept me in as long as I did. I got very depressed as I was molested by by dub elder father. I used to ask the elders for shepherding calls. I asked for a study. I always had to ask.
Then when I eventually confronted myself and stopped going, they didn't notice for about 3 months and when I said I wasn't going to another meeting that was the end of the chat. They said ok and left a few minutes later.
6-9 months after I stopped my grandma died. I looked after her most next to mom. I was very close to her, sat next to her at the meetings and shouted the scriptures at her when she didn't hear , helped her stand up and sit down, and got embarresed at her "whispers" (she was mostly deaf) "THAT BROTHER ISN'T A VERY GOOD SPEAKER IS HE?" "THAT LITTLE GIRL HAS NITTS, DONT GO NEAR HER YOU'LL GET THEM TOO" "SHES WEARING A THIN TOP, LOOK YOU CAN SEE HER BRA AND THATS SEE THROUGH TOO" lmao.
Not one dub rang to see if I was ok. Thats what sealed it for me, they never cared and never would. They have no love.
I haven't heard from anyone since even though my mom (bless her ) tells every elder she meets from my territory to visit me! I found out she's spoken to loads over the last 3 years and I told her not to worry, I was obviously too much hassle! She had to agree that they didn't seem to care and has stopped (I think/hope). I told her it would take a miracle to get me back to meetings.
I was never been so happy since I left, I now have sincere friends and a wonderful husband.

Why a paradise earth is so appealing to JWs?
by Lady Lee inwhy a paradise earth is so appealing to jws?.
well no one can say they look around at the problems today and can say they like everything they see.
so a nice clean paradise world would be pretty great.

I think it is appealing to them because it means that they don't need to help make the world better NOW. Gives them a get out clause. God is going to put everything right, it's not our responsibility

Getting nervous
by FourMs ini feel like i need to spill my feelings.
after lurking on the site, i realize my story is like many here.
the reason i am feeling nervous is that i have not broken the news to my parents yet about my inactivity as well as my standing as to what i think about this whole thing.

Strange days
by New Worldly Translation ini haven't had chance to post on jwd recently but reading some posts the last few months it seems that many friends on the board are going through rough times because of the jehovah`s witness cult.
my heart goes out to them and hope everything turns out well especially those who have been rejected by spouses, children and family or maybe have the prospect of being shunned if they act according to their conscience.
i don't know what`s going on at the meetings as i haven't set foot in one for 4 years but it seems jw's are being whipped up into another armageddon frenzy and are therefore putting pressure on ex-jw's to rejoin.

Sounds like you need that break on the organic farm. You'd never have had this opportunity if you were still in your flat I suppose but it's still a bummer. Hope things look up for you soon.

Thank you.
by BridgeOverTroubledWater ini've been out for about 4 years and for the first time i've been able to find a place that understands how hard it was for me to get to where i am today after being raised a jw.
i feel like all of you can relate to having to start a new life from scratch after years of living a completely different one.
so, thanks..
