I apologize if this was covered but here's how it will happen if you decide to stay with him:
1. You will get married before he gets reinstated. JWs do not tolerate marriages outside the faith. If he marries you before rejoining the church, the sanctity of marriage will trump all else. Be warned though, living with a JW husband can be hell. He will be having scriptures like "as for me and my household, we will serve Jehovah" pumped into his head on a tri-weekly basis. His entire mission in life will be to bring you into the church, at least for the first few years. Depending on his personality, it may cool off, but there will still be a rift between you two. He won't celebrate holidays with you. You'll be on your own for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. He may pull the "as for me and my household..." crap and not allow it in the house at all. Also keep in mind that there are single women in the KH that will be spending a lot more time with him than you between service, meetings, etc. He may start to want a JW wife that he can "relate" to and you'll be cast aside at the first opportunity. To him, the church is MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU.
2. He will sit you down and end the relationship because he will NOT, repeat NOT, attain reinstatement while he remains in an unmarried relationship with you. It simply won't happen. Pray this is the option he chooses.

He has a different mother than I do and she ended up cheating on my dad with about half the town, including his younger brother. I guess I should have mentioned he's my half-brother.

I agree with kerj. Brenda's videos always grate on me. They're almost embarrassing and probably do more harm in exposing the Watchtower than good. A JW would watch this, see how unrealistic the depictions of JWs are, and not give it any more thought.

It's a pretty decent video, but it shows little objectivity. My experience has been that the JWs are far more diplomatic when going from door to door. Plus, the JW woman was EXTREMELY crazy looking and her acting was so bad it HAD to have been that way on purpose. Nevertheless, it brings up valid points.

I chronicled in another thread the story of my horny, hyperactive older brother. Now for those of you in Michigan and possibly the surrounding areas, you might know him. I'll give you a few hints.
- He's really tall and was skinny up until a few years ago.
- He has proposed marriage to nearly every single Jehovah's Witness woman of legal age in the state of Michigan
- He is EXTREMELY social and has no shame
- He complains like a child when he doesn't eat a massively huge meal every 2 hours
- He has been known to call people more than 20 times a day
- He is obsessed with marriage and sex, often bringing up inappropriate topics to women he's just met
- He is EXTREMELY bad with money despite the fact he has very little. He is more likely to buy CDs, tapes, and DVDs with his last $30 than fill his empty fridge
- He will invite people out to eat even though he has no money. He will not mention this fact until the bill comes, and you either have to pay his way, or suffer the embarrassment of the restaurant making him do dishes.
Everywhere where JWs gather I always find at least half a dozen people that know him. I couldn't throw a stone in an assembly hall without hitting at least 3 women he's proposed to. So I'm wondering if anyone on here has encountered this tall, horny, hyperactive brother from West Michigan. -

Lol, I almost got suckered into the vacuum sales thing. Not saying you're a sucker for doing it, because I knew it was a crappy job to begin with. The only reason I went to the interview is that they worded the job description extremely vaguely and I didn't even know what it was until after the interview when a relative told me that "setup and display of carpet cleaning system" is a fancy way to say "Kirby salesman."

Sounds like a scam, but I have an older brother who has probably asked hundreds of women all over the circuit to marry him. He is one horny sonofab**** and has been obsessed with marriage and sex since his mid to late 20's. Of course the false provides no outlet for him so he just goes absolutely bonkers with desperation at any social gathering. He's developed such a reputation that I couldn't throw a stone in an assembly hall without hitting half a dozen women he's proposed to, and just about every JW who's been in the church in Michigan in the last ten years knows who he is. His reputation is so widespread that with EVERYONE I meet it's always the same scenario:
Stranger: "Smithfield, smithfield (not my real last name btw)....I think I know that name...are you by any chance related to MICHAEL Smithfield? (not my brother's name either)?"
Me: *sigh* "yes, he's my half-brother"
Stranger: *proceeds to tell thoroughly embarrassing new story about my brother's behavior that incredibly enough is more over-the-top than the last one I've heard*
I wouldn't be surprised if at least a dozen people on this board have had an encounter with the tall, hyper, horny brother from West Michigan. -

What is the Original Religion?
by Satanus inseems to me that the primordial religion, if it could be called that, is a form of paganism that has pantheism, animism and shamanism.
also, it may contain sun worship.
in this 'religion', they felt a connection w the land, had respect for nature and the animals.

I saw an interesting thing on the discovery channel about Homo Erectus. They showed a migrating group when a woman and her child wandered off and they ended up getting struck by lightning. The brother rushed over and tried to revive them, but only to no avail. He placed animal skins over their bodies and the group stopped to mourn. A few hours later, the daughter woke up. The brother, thinking the pelt he placed over his little sister was magic, tried it with his mother, but she didn't wake up. Vultures started circling overhead so in order to keep them from damaging the body, the son buried his mother to keep her safe until she woke up.
I realize that's purely conjecture but I could definitely see something similar happening. To the primitive man, the world was a scary unexplainable place, so religion was invented to explain it. -

I've reached a turning point in my life
by B_Deserter inlast may, i finally admitted to myself that i am an atheist.
to me, being an atheist means that i don't believe any of the silly nonsense that puny humans have come up with.
many of the religions of man were started during a time when mental illnesses went undiagnosed and misunderstood, a time when man couldn't explain why lightning struck the earth or why rain fell.

"Why couldn't the universe be eternal? Not this particular one we're in now, but everything outside of it (if there is anything outside of it). Cause and effect still applies - an earlier version of the universe causes the next version and so on, right up to us."
Yes, but then you have an unending chain of universes that had to be there to begin with. You're just pushing the cause further back in the past. My point is that I cannot accept that all this energy in the universe has simply always been here. There is no more proof in that statement than there is in saying that it appeared from nothing. I freely admit that this is mere speculation on my part, and I won't discount the possibility that maybe all the energy in the universe HAS always been here. Yes, I'm probably the most non-committal Deist ever. -

WT in the business of selling cars????
by observador ini just received an email from a friend with pictures of what seems to be a wt-approved or wt-connected used car business.. this friend is telling us that the cars being sold are those previously used by circuit overseers.
he's giving us some links and pictures, but i haven't had the time to investigate, so i thought to put them up here for discussion.. the web address of the business is, quite appropriately, www.circuitleasing.com.
here are the documents made available by this acquaintance of mine:.

I don't mean to comment spam but the text on that letter is obviously added by software. It's probably a fake. The Circuit Leasing website mentions nothing about Jehovah's Witnesses.
