as jws, we lack the "social outlet" all humans need, to have true friends one can speak openly and honestly with and not be afraid of judgmentalism.
what i've seen firsthand is that the "nucleus" of the congregation often has this need filled: elders, ms's, pioneers, and their families often do things together.
Suggest you go to the nearest Epsicopal Church. Just for fun. See if anything happens.
Note: They do not have horns. Do not speak in tongues, do not sacrifice goats during the service. But BOY is that communion wine good!

Kat, Tina is right on the money. There are three "items" involved in this: 1) you 2) your husband 3) your marriage. The relationship between you and your husband is as separate an item as either of its members, it has an existance of its own, and as one of the members of the marriage, you have a right to do something with it, about it, and for it - including end it if you wish.

reading some posts tonite made me think of some advice i was given by a ms one day.. at the kh one sunday, i had genuinely asked brother g. how he was feeling.
i knew he had health problems and could see he was kind of uncomfortable.
he replied that his blood pressure had been high, and he was feeling the effects of it.. he then went on to explain that he rarely goes into detail because most brothers and sisters dont want to hear a persons problems.
Such is the real compassion of the J Dubs.
i don't know how the weather is everywhere else, but here in dixie, it's been the first bearable summer in as long as i can remember.. it seems as though mother nature took a rest this year, worn out from her years of relentlessly bombarding us with intense heat.
for so long, it seemed as though the spring and summer months, even october, would bring an onslaught of 100+ degree temperatures with record high humidity and only enough rain to turn our evenings into saunas.. then this year came.
so far, the temperature has topped out in the very low 90's and the humidity just hasn't had the enthusiasm of years past.
Bendrr. Yeah, I know some places on the beach. Recommend you get a room at Lighthouse Point Condominiums. I have an 800 number for them around here somewhere I'll send to you direct as soon as I can dredge it up. There are plenty of motels on the beach, but I wouldn't stay in one of them on a bet. The law requires that sheets on a motel be changed daily. No such rule applies to the bedspread. And you don't want to know what research has found in motel bedspreads.
Anyway, the best set of digs in Lighthouse Point is the C building. Faces the ocean. I stayed in C-24 when I lived in Atlanta and went to the beach for fun and games.
There's a Spanky's at the beach...local oasis that's pretty good. And an International Breakfast Club (I think it's called) that's got the best breakfast I've had anywhere.
Will post more when I find the phone number for Lighthouse Point. When are you planning on coming down? Recommend after Labor Day.

ive finally finished writing about my life.
its long and complicated.
Jurs is right Ray. And her observations can be combined with pointing out the truth concerning what JWs have said, right out of their own mouths.
In short, this technique could be summarized as planting small, non-threatening seeds of truth in her mind, and then letting Truth crowd out the error.
Truth has a power unconnected to the truth teller, so that the truth keeps on working after you have stopped talking.
This is a lot quicker than trying to remove error by main force. You can't take something out of someone's heart. You can put something in, truth, and then let it crowd out the error.
You will let us know if it's working?

i haven't posted anything in the past because i still held to the fear that it would be betraying what i was taught, betraying my family, betraying god.
this is precisely my life as it is now.
I've been in your shoes, Kat, like so many others.
One of the books that helped me the most was by Houston Smith, "The Religions of Man." In it, Smith takes a look at all the major religious philosophies extant in the world today. And he does so absent any judgementalism of any kind. He presents just the facts, and allows you to come to your own conclusions, as it should be. The JWs have a book like that, but it is nothing but propaganda. And it tells you what you should think.
Beyond that, it helps to remember that "all who are led by the spirit of God are the children of God." Yes, I know the JWs have bastardized the meaning of that simple and beautiful scripture, Kat. But it's YOU that's being spoken of here. So when you pray, remember it's to your own father you are speaking. And he really couldn't care less what you call him. In fact, my own opinion is that in prayer words mean nothing, it's the heart's attitude to which God inclines an understanding ear. I'm sure he hears you.

but .... today has been an all time record!.

Zounds! Me too! In fact, I'm getting so much stuff the lights on my cable modem are flashing like mad. Usually they don't flicker unless I'm getting something going up or down. This is nuts.
I really think that before it's over, we're going to start seeing some very, very nasty penalites for doing this kinda shit. I mean look at what these cowboys are are doing to the information infrastructure. And to the money that flows over it. And to the confidence of people who use it. These boys are really tickling the dragon's tail. One day it will turn and bite their fucking heads off.

Well, Bendrr, you're in the south too? Would you like to say where 'bouts? I live in Savannah, GA. And you know what? We're about to get a large dose of Barry. Remember when the remains of Hurricane Opal stalled out over Macon back in '94 and we all almost drowned? Well, it looks like Barry is going to come ashore round the AL/GA line and then go inland for a ways. Then that front coming down here from IL will doubtless push it back south right on top of our little punkin' heads. And it will rain like unto a cow pissing on a flat rock. Watcha think?
