today i got a card with a picture from my mother.
but let me back up, so you know what i'm talking about.. i had left the watchtower org.
back in 2001. and when i did mother was very hateful towards me, and she had said some very nasty things in a letter at that time.
Go with what your gut tells you. I know that my father said some extremely hurtful things to me after I left as well. I have no contact with him at all anymore. Because I don't need someone like that in my life even if he is my "father". Why bring someone in close to you or have contact with them when they've been so hurtful to you. You can have a relationship with your Aunts without having contact with your mother. But go with what you think and feel is right for you. And don't let anyone pressure you, if you really don't want to do it, then don't.
Many Blessings,

after reading tatiana's post about her granddaughter, i wanted to do some research on sids and the connection with long qt syndrome.
i haven't done enough research to satisfy my curiosity but wonder if anyone has further information about either of these medical problems.
my niece was diagnosed with long qt syndrome at her birth.
I'm glad there is a post about this. My husband had open heart surgery at 10 days and at 6 years old, for co-arcation of the aorta. His cardiac surgeon told his parents that he believes that most SIDS cases are because if this condition. And it is easily missed by doctors in delivery. I read the post by Tatiana, and my love goes out to her and her daughter and family for their loss.

if it came from the society, it was good and if it did not come out of the society, it was bad.
i call this perspective my tunnel vision.
I think the WTS attracts people who like things to be black or white. I grew up in it and was not allowed to go to collage, so I guess being the kind of person I am, developed critical thinking skills on my own.
Things to me were never just black or white anyway. I used to have people in my family get exasperated with me because I was always asking (why) . I also think people in general don't like thinking for themselves. They like having someone telling them what to do. So they can continue in their mindless lives. Growing up around rigid individuals who can't exist if their was not a definite line of good and evil, made me see that NOTHING is wholly good and wholly evil. It's all a matter of perspective anyway if you want to get down to it.
Just my thought

it's been about a year since the wt condemned all forms of higher education.. in my hall, two elder's have allowed their sons to go to college.. others are continuing their studies, despite what brooklyn says.. .
how have the youth in your hall responded?.
It must be where I grew up, because everyone in my KH and surrounding areas were basically not to go to any form of collage. I went to a Tech collage, and my parents got a speaking to from the elders. Needless to say I was told to stop going by my parents. I was about 15 at the time. And good little JW I was,I did it. Worst thing I ever did. Oh well, time to go back to school I guess.....

last week i saw a former jw sister of mine in a grocery store parking lot.
i was waiting for my brother to come out from work.
i sat there for a good 30 minutes..and she never moved a muscle.
Thats hilarious Bigdreaux.
i have read many post on here about abuse that goes on in the kingdom hall.
one abuse i use to see involved the denial of the bathroom to children during meetings.. .
in the kingdom hall i attended like most expected children to sit still for two hours during the meetings.
If you see something about the way someone is treating their kids please say something to the parents! Because what they are doing to them is ABUSE. Especially if they are 7 and under, since kids those ages don't have the same bladder size as kids that are older. I personally got in trouble for having to go the the bathroom when I was real young. And remember the humiliation to this day. If you say something to the parents at least they know someone is watching them. I never did understand what the big deal was about the 'you can't go the bathroom' during the meetings . Like your really missing anything.
Just 1 persons opinion.

where did you learn the art of public speaking?
What I do give the society credit for is my ability to question. And not take whatever I am told as "Truth". And to that I am truly thankful!

this is my first post and might be my only post, not sure.
i've chosen to "come out" for a moment just to talk about the 30 minute change in the public talk on sundays.
my father and brother are both elders, this change was a blow to them they enjoy giving encouraging public talks to the friends.
Hi Ophelia,
Thank you for having the courage for posting on this forum. You are doing now being an active JW, what it took me 8 years to do. It is refreshing to read posts from people who went through exactly the same things I did growing up. WE ALL know how you are feeling. Please keep posting. Unlike what you may have heard, we are not in league with the devil. (joke)
