Are there two posters by that name? A poster called AuldSoul posted on this thread around 10 last night. Same or different?

We're going to "Boo at the Zoo" this year. I have no idea what that is, but my wife and young 'un seem to be excited about it.
As far as costumes go her mind changes depending on what time of day it is, last time I asked it was SpongeBob. She reminds me of Liv Tyler as Arwen in the Lord of the Rings so I might accidentally on purpose play her the scene in the movie where Arwen spirits Frodo away to Rivendell. She loves princesses and horses and watching that scene might swing her away from the "absorbant and yellow and porous is he" one.
I will be dressing this year as an over-protective dad. My costume will consist of a utility belt with flashlight(s), bandaid boxes and rolls of reflective tape. If I could only
stealborrow a portable x-ray machine for the candy she receives, I'd be set. -

Mrs. Eagle is an RN and is required to get one each year. When we lived in another state the clinic she worked for allowed her to give me the shot herself. I have no idea what she did differently from other nurses but when she injected me I never had the soreness or pain mentioned above. Now that we're in Oklahoma I have to go to my PCP to get one, which I still do because I've had the flu and don't want it again.
I just read the info above on the mercury and I guess I should get on the horn to my PCP and tell them to order me up some non-mercury vaccine. Speaking of which, why in the HE double hockey sticks does anyone HAVE to request non-mercury vaccine? Why don't they just make all the vaccines that way in the first place? I have a history of alzheimers in the family and think about aluminum getting into my brain ( what little there is of it) now I'll have to consider mercury also. Yay!

I have a question
by Jeannie33 ini am a nondenominational christian and i was wondering how jehovah's witnesses view god regarding his providence.
do they believe that he is in control of the ongoings of earth and with our life at all times or sometimes or not at all?
do they feel god knows the number of our days and takes us when it is time to go?

Jeannie33,
First of all, glad to see you posting here, welcome aboard. I've been out of the jw's for a while but here is what I remember. The witnesses believe that the world is under the control of the 'wicked one' unless one is an active jw. God doesn't take an interest in the goings on of humans unless a person is seeking him (and is then only available if a witness happens to be in the neighborhood). An example: A person is sick at heart and is contemplating suicide so they pray, "God if you're there send me a sign." Next thing you know a knock on the door and a witness is on the other side ready to lead that person to a bible (their bible) study. The other intervention that god makes into the witness world is that he directs the 'faithful and discreet slave' aka the honchos in charge of the publishing company in New York. The f&ds then makes pharisaical type rules to pass onto the rank and file publishers aka other sheep. Unless one is part of the 144,000 heaven bound 'anointed' then Jesus does not even act as a mediator.
As far as God numbering our days and taking us at certain time, the witnesses didn't go by that when I was 'in'. It was more along the lines of 'time and unforeseen occurence' playing with the fate of humans.
It actually did me some good to have to type that stuff above. It reminded me how far off they are from the intent of the bible they claim to follow. Best wishes to you in your discussions with your mom.

Anybody attend their Senior Prom as a JW? Wha' happen?
by Open mind inthis will be raising it's ugly head in the next few years with my kids unless we're out by then.
so, did anyone attend their senior prom while still a jw?
were they a jw too?

I didn't get to go to my prom. There was a group of teenagers from several different kingdumb hells that got together and went a couple of years before mine. They **must** have done something to tick off the elders (remember the movie 'Footloose'? I thought they stole the plot from our kingdumb hell) because we started having local needs talks on the subject of proms whenever that time of year drew near. That in itself was weird because there were no other kids my age in our hall so everyone knew the talk was for my benefit alone.
But I'm not bitter. (cough**liar**cough)

Mr Majestic
Thank you so much for your introduction. I know from my own experience that it takes a certain amount of intestinal fortitude to take the step of a first post. I hope that you will continue to post because you are certainly amongst many that have been where you are now. Something you said:
But the problem is that the past has not been healed, and the void and isolation, the total lack of emotional input means that I am in no way capable of integrating into a world that I have been in fear of all my life. So many barriers and no allies.
In time you will see that the barriers aren't so insurmountable and as for allies look at the numerous posts above mine. When I began to write this response there were at least a dozen of the smartest and kindest allies that an ex-jw could wish for making themselves known and entering your corner.
Welcome and I hope to see you often,
Chris

Anything cooked by Mrs. Eagle, j/k.
I've had ostrich meat in chili, but the recipe for the chili was so bad that any type of meat cooked into it would have tasted awful. I've also eaten squirrel which wasn't terrible but I wouldn't repeat the experience.
When I was a younger and my mom would cook something for the first time that my dad didn't care for he would eat all he was served and then say, "Well, we've had that." Which was an unspoken, "And we should never have it again."

I had the great displeasure of attending a high school graduation at ORU earlier this year. The campus was clean but in great need of updating. Every building on the grounds was either white or a very ugly shade of gold metal. I believe the photo in the OP was taken in the assembly hall where the graduation was held. Take a look at the curtain behind jr in the photo. When you walk into the auditorium there are a couple of dozen rows of unused seats you have to walk past then you go through that curtain and you're in the hall. The curtain is used to fool the camera and make the hall seem full when over half of it is empty. I guess jr. doesn't have the draw of people that his daddy had.

I seemed to like John Hagee sermons on t.v. Revelation but what connection does he have with O.R.?
The article mentions that Hagee is on the board of regents. I would bet that the situation is much like when Jerry Falwell took over the PTL board when Jim and Tammy Faye Baker were caught messing to much with the money that was
stolendonated.
