i was reading through some of the letters to the boe and one of them made this statement: .
caution regarding photocopiers: some photocopiers keep an electronic copy of whatever is copied.
to ensure confidentiality, elders should never use commercial photocopiers to make copies of documents that contain confidential congrgation information, such as the s-77 form.
Would the Freedom of information act apply to being able to get a copy of these records to see what has been said about you?
Is there some legal way to enforce a violation of privacy as these records are not kept in a safe manner in the KH?
(often unlocked cabinets and unauthorized people having access.)
What can be done to put an end to these people writing gossip, allegations, and rumors springing from personal motives, etc. and keeping such a record on people?

this is a collection of confidential letters from the watchtower society that were sent to the bodies of elders in the years 1981 through 2006. these are the letters that you were never meant to see or read.. there's all sorts of information in them ranging from the boring and mundian to instructions about how to handle child molesters.. many thanks to darth frosty and others (who i'm not sure can be named) who worked very hard and took risks to collect and scan the information.

just telling it like it is.... so you have the mormons.. like there are a lot of rich mormons.
mitt romney being one of them.. then there's the scientology people.
yes... also an alternative religion like jw and mormons.. like there are tons of rich scientologists in tom cruise world.. and i know that in jw there are some wealthy people.. but i tell you, in jw the overall feel is that being poor is glorified.. my experience is there is a ton of descrimination in the organization.
The JWs with money aplenty will tell you that "money is for a protection" . (It's another loaded phrase and I hear that quoted like a chant.)
They are given sanction for their riches because the borg hits on them to help buy property for future KH and to pay the KH bills.
There is a different agenda toward those who have money.
And if they are walking some fine line or someone finds fault with them, they are "courted" instead of being interrogated...and certain things are "suggested" to them. In other words they can use some of those riches to make the hounds back off...if you get my drift.
i know the mormons go door to door and i have seen some church of god people occasionally.
who else has organized preaching ministries (door to door, etc.)?
i'm in an ongoing dialogue with relatives and this is one of their contentions - that the witnesses must have the truth (despite the many fallacies) because they are the only one that go door to door preaching.
According to this scripture, it would seem unnecessary that anyone would need to preach.....not door to door nor any other way...

it seems that this is the catch all question that elders like to use to prove apostasy or just to get rid of you.

i don't post too often here but have been coming here for a few years now.
i have been successfully fading for the past 10 years (so i thought) but went to visit jw family members last week and the matriarch of the family asked us if we still believed it was jehovah's organization.
after avoiding a direct answer and trying to skirt the issue for a while, finally the hubby said, "no, we don't believe it's jehovah's organization".
You did good.
You should not have to sacrifice TRUTH for unity.
Standing up for your truth is what this journey is all about.
And maybe we don't always know what the truth is, but sometimes we get closer by the process of elimination....
by knowing what truth IS NOT
Everyone has to move at their own speed.
And also, even if family has Df'd you.... your move may give another family member the courage to DOUBT and to SEEK later down the road.

anyway, i just had a thought which made me stop in for a while.
i was discussing something with a friend the other day, i hadn't even started speaking nor had i brought up the core of my point before he started screaming like some wild manaic; he started making up "straw man" arguments one after the other ad infinum, yelling like a banshee and accusing me of all sorts of thoughts that i don't believe... it was really bazarre.
Why do you feel the need to do this? It seems to me both sides - the JW and the non-JW - feel the urge to win over the other side.How do you deal with this?
How do you pour the proverbial "cold water" in their face?
I am not refering to theocratic debate. I am referring to a strange behavior that is used even in "normal" conversations.
