dear missfit, You don't need man's description of what god is or who he is. You have that power, (call it god if you want) within you. Get your strength from inside yourself, you can do it and I know this because we all have it. Your daughter has that strength and she is already helping you by showing her concern. She needs you and wants you. You can do it! You can!!

False teachers are propagandist’s who try to influence the community by presenting only one side of an argument. They, (propagandist’s) may make statements that are partly false and partly true. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further their own religious agenda. Propaganda can be used as a form of ideological warfare.

*Facepalm* What do you make of this cultish email I just got from my JW friend? What do I say to her?
by Julia Orwell ina bit of background: she is a sweet sister who has hard a really hard life: mum killed in an accident when she was young while once-an-elder dad was off having an affair after having been released from jail after serving time as a pedophile; she spent months in hospital after the accident which killed her mother; brothers jailed as pedos, ex husband left her cold with their 6 month old son- she's had a tough life and is a really sweet lady.
she's intelligent, caring, forgiving and articulate.
far too good for jws.. she 'brought me into the truth' as they say, and as such we've always had a pretty good bond.. now, after the gossip/slander fiasco of another so-called friend running around telling everyone i'm an apostate and not to talk to me, i unfriended my jw friends from facebook with an explanation.

What about accepting her offer of a study. You can raise tactful questions that may get her to think.

A book I'm reading
by ldrnomo in"the story of my people" edoardo nesi:
our inner thoughts are our greatest inner riches and they mean little, almost nothing, unless they're expressed, and everything we fail to say or write or live is lost----mere dust.
so, how much have you lost?

The Pope has to be elected by a bunch of guys in funny red hats. The Faithful slave gets to appoint themselves.

Please Share one of your Favourite Quotations
by cofty inhave you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

A video for kids ( and adults) about conformity/non-conformity
by nonjwspouse inwhen i was a kid i absolutly loved the video "the point" and bought the musical album (neilsson)and loved that as well.
the theme of that cartoon video and even the album is all about living in the land of absolute conformity in the land of point with no concieved choice but to conform.
it is about a little ( round headed) kids journy through the pointless forest ( he was banished after a trial for not having a point) and finally the end of the story ( it really comes out in the middle with the rock man) that you don't have to have a point to have a point.. now that is a video with great music that i think helps kids recognise the pointlessness of absolulte conformity.. maybe its just my love for the story and music but i think it is a great teaching story as well.. it's on you tube in great resolution in entirety with both ringo starr narrating and also one with dustin hoffman.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjfkteuba_s.

When our 6 year old granddaughter asks us why we don't go to the meetings, we tell her we graduated.
