I wonder why it is that when a JW is arrested or sentenced for child abuse, rape, murder, whatever it always says they are a JW. I don't ever recall seeing it stated that they are agnostic, atheist, a Wiccan, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, etc. and certainly JW members don't have the market cornered on these crimes. People pose as plumbers, water officials, police officers, etc.

Witnesses "Policing" People...Is It True?
by CrimsonBleu inmy sister told me once she likes to "police" people, that it was sort of a game she liked to play.
she is true to her word, she does just that.
always seeking the negative, rarely acknowledging positive...anything.. is this common among witnesses?

wasn't even attending the sales meetings any more and my sister threatened to go to the elders about my camping trips and an upcoming europe trip with a girlfriend. they saw nothing, but heard things so of course gotta be the JDub Police. maybe if i was actually going to the sales meetings it would have been a real threat....

Just need to vent for a minute....
Sister's husband out of work (both JDubs). It was suggested he go back to school and try to become a radiology tech. Good money and fairly in demand around here. Sister spouts out that they know a JDub HIGH SCHOOL kid taking classes at the local community college so he can more easily get into that program and have less to do out of high school. Then sister says they knew of a brudder who left the coveted radiology program to go to Bethell even though he was so close to graduating from the program.
First question is, higher education is ok again? Can we say flip-flopping, yet again? Then if you are that close to graduation and taking the Boards to be a Radiology Tech...why not delay Bethell a few months and finish? You'd be worth more working in a medical area at Bethell. I'm just curious if new Bethell member will be kept or sent back.
Stupid people.

How ZEALOUS a JW were you?
by BonaFide inor maybe you are still a zealous jw.
i became a regular pioneer while i was still in high school.
i used to set my alarm for 5 am three times a week and walk a few blocks to do streetwork.

sold magazines auxiliary pioneered summer after getting dunked. wanted to be a MS, but didn't go out selling witnessing with the group enough on weekends. regular pioneered for 5 months (faked the hours for all 5 months) but realized i didn't give a sh!7 about it and it was a bunch of crock. :) although it was kinda nice to be an attendant at the DC...ugh the Cow Palace was always so damn hot in the auditorium.

Could be the same, dunno. I do recall letters from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses before, for what it's worth....

Does this site only make you angrier?
by homeschool inhubby says this site is making me obsessed, in a way that's making me angrier and angrier about jw's.
it's been almost every single day that i read a thread that seriously gets under my skin or makes me sick about them.
he's right, there's a lot on here that will only fuel my fire and help me to go into an angry spiral instead of bettering my life and forgetting about all the stuff i hate about the witnesses.

No, but I do find my self being a bit obsessed searching for new threads. The site confirmed what I thought. I'm thankful I found it.

If you are counting down the time before you are 25 so you can be an elder....maybe you should re-evaluate your priorities? Don't mean to be rude, but seems like it's for the wrong reasons? Dunno.
I do know way back when they look at how much time you spend selling in the field service, how visible you are at meetings for field service. Then they look at maturity level. But I have family appointed an elder within a couple months of moving to another country...then moved back to the States and they wouldn't even appoint him as a MS. It all depends on the needs and whims of the BoE, CO, etc.

What finally pushed you over the edge?
by keyser soze inwas there one issue or incident, final straw, so-to-speak, that made you leave once and for all?
i know there was for me.. i had been having doubts for years, and had stopped believing it was the truth.
but i labored on as a jw, in part because of my family, and in part because i had invested so much of myself in it.

When I was told I was being materialistic when I bought 4 year old car since the car I had been driving (which was older than me) was starting to nickel and dime me. Oh, but it was ok for the elder to purchase Lexus and he wasn't materialistic or anything.
