Our hall has NO ventilation. We had a quick-build remodel a few years back and there was money for a ventilation system. But this was imbezeled by one of the elders (and covered up, but this is another story). So meetings start off a bit chilly, but soon it's hot and moist inside. The windows are all steamed up and there is a noticable lack of oxygen. I can't stand it and it always pissed me off. One person gets sick, and everyone gets it because they're all breathing the same disgusting air for 2 hours. You would think there would be public safety requirements for public buildings to have proper ventelation.

Kingdumb Discomfort
by WTWizard ini have noticed that most kingdumb hells have had numerous comfort problems.
one of the most consistent is that they are extremely dry at this time of year.
i can remember when i had chapped hands, that it is always worse after sitting there for 2 hours.

Have you noticed that disfellowshipped Witnesses are treated differantly?
by isnrblog inmy family does not speak to me.
i have no problem with that as they are pains in the ass.
but during my tenure as a jw, i noticed that differant families would treat their df'd members differantly, even if they didn't live in the same household, often inviting them over for dinner, etc.

My sister was DF and I shunned her for 17 years (as I was supposed to) before I woke up. We now have a good relationship. She told me that it bothered her that I shunned her since my parents didn't (dad's an elder). My parents hid from me that they were not shunning her. And her DF friends all have great relationships with their entire families. She thought it was just me being an ass. She didn't even realize that I was the only person that she knew who was actually following the rules.
Dad says he totally disagrees with this teaching, and technically he should step down because if he gets caught he'll be removed. But he's not prepared to do that because "there's just so much work to be done".

I think I just became an unbaptized bible study student apostate
by AddaGirl ini had some major questions regarding 607 bce which directly affect the doctrine of 1914. my teacher, admitting being weak on history, could not answer my questions.
i started researching and found that the appropriate dates for the "seventy years" were appearing to be 609 bce to 539 bce, the ruling period of babylon.
this meant that everything i was being taught based on 1914 was in effect, a lie.

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character...
by digderidoo in...in all fiction:jealous and proud of it; petty, unjust, unforgiving, control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevent bully.
", says richard dawkins in the god delusion p51.
he goes on to say, "those of us schooled from infancy in his ways can become desensitized to their horror".. would you agree?.

So my advise is this, if the OT is giving you trouble then read the NT!
But Jesus supported the old testament for the most part. How can you worship someone who goes along with that?

Transitional Species
by Asheron innot looking to strike up the tired old creation/evolution debate.
just found this critter to possibly be an interesting example of a transitional animal currently alive.
looks like he just cant make up his mind whether he wants to be a fish or not.....or male or female for that matter.

I got this FW going around the JW email circuit from my father today.
(PICTURE OF CLOCK AT TOP OF WATCHTOWER BUILING)
Here is a story told at the annual meeting……
You know how the society has been cutting costs, part time help, cutting back
on cd;s selling property etc... well , you know the famous WATCHTOWER
READ GODS WORD DAILY " sign is on one side of the place,,,, well ,,, on the
other side is a sign but also a clock which is lit at night! Well the G.B, decided
that it cost too much in electricity so they decided to turn it off! Now remember ,
this has been lit since forever as far as bethel goes. Well they got inundated
with phone calls and Emails telling them that the clock was dark and the lights
were out, The brothers would politely answer that yes they understood but that
they are cutting costs so decided to turn it off. WELL..... the MAYORS office
eventually p honed and said that THEY were inundated with calls objecting to
the clock being turned off , so when the brothers told them about the cost
cutting the mayor said....." We will have a man come over and put a meter on
that side and the City will pay for it!!!! .........WOW talk about a LANDMARK!!!!
JEHOVAH is amazing and truly awe inspiring!!!Truly amazing! The JWs cant afford to pay to light up a clock, so the government is going to do this for them. And somehow they see this as a sign of Jehovah's support!? They can spin anything.

We had one. I don't know if he was messing with any of the kids in the congregation, but he messed with his own and others. He disappeared when the police came looking for him a couple years ago.
