Wow. How did we get on the topic of race again? Oompa, for the record, I'm for hot chicks of every race! Woo Hoo!!! I'm married to one that IS every race! Anyway, I think that the reason so many people stay is.... well..... Let's be honest. Most of the people that blindly follow the organization are weak-minded. They wait for others to tell them what to do. And, they feel that they can trust the organization, so they listen. That's it. They don't think on their own. They don't want to! To them, it's so much easier to turn off their little brains and rely on Jehovah AKA the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.

The Average JW WILL NOT Leave!!!!
by minimus inyou could have stupid new light every week published and the vast majority aren't going anywhere.
you could see proof of contradiction after contradiction right in front of your nose, if you're a witness.
and you still won't budge.. the reason: mental and spiritual laziness.

Funny things you used to believe
by 5thGeneration inone of my classics was because the bethel printing room was so clean then it must be jehovah's organization.. now i realize, of course, that most businesses keep their operations equally clean.. doh!.

I spent most of my high school years scared to death that we were all going to die. My dad did his JW math using 1914 as the reference. He figured that "this generation" that was alive in 1914 couldn't live much longer, so the end was supposed to come at the very latest my senior year of high school. He even said that the first Iraq war was a sign of the end and that the whole world was going to gather together to fight and start armageddon. Thanks a PANTLOAD, dad! Needless to say, I didn't die. Not yet.

by compound complex infor the viewing of those who missed this quotation where elsewhere posted:.
the sole purpose of our existence as a society is to announce.

I'm a litte rusty on Watchtower facts but didn't The Watchtower magazine used to have that printed as a "mission statement" in the front of the magazine? Something about announcing God's Kingdom which arrived in 1914 or some such crap? Anyway, who really cares?
My dad visited a week or so ago and littered my house and my brother's house with stacks and stacks of Watchtower debris. I'll have to pick one up and see if it still says the same thing in the front of it.

I am stupid...
by metaspy ini just thought i would give a little update on my fade.. for starters, i found a new job and will be starting soon.. secondly, i found the job far enough away that a move to a new apartment is necessary.. thus i have achieved two of the major parts of my fade at once.. i will not be working for a brother, nor renting from one.. .
however, another part of my fade is my wanting to get out zelda, the girl i have loved for quite some time.. recently she tried to commit suicide again.. i have gone to see her every day since she went into the hospital.. this is more than i can say of the brother she is courting.. .
her mother is df'd, we shall call her kairi.

Dude, sorry to tell you, but you can't save this chick. Trust me, I have been there. You want to help and you think you can help her, but most likely you can't. Even if you get her to love you and leave the JWs with you, there will still be problems. Oh, sure, you two might be happy for a few months because you'll be living off of the high that comes with new love and infatuation, pluse the unexplored new-found freedom that comes from leaving the JWs. But, after a few months, she'll settle back into her emotional rut, except now she'll have new ammunition to reaffirm her emotions. You will be the whipping boy for all of her problems. She will be soooo unhappy because YOU made her leave the organization and if it weren't for YOU, she'd be happy... and so on and so forth. You will become her emotional crutch. Trust me dude, you may really love her and care for her, but I'm willing to bet that nothing good can come of it for you or her.
I know it sucks to hear that, but you're doing the best thing you can right now. Leave the organization and get your head on straight. Learn to live a normal life and then try and find out where a woman fits into that equation for you. That's all the advice that I guy who has been there can give. :)

Even though you're a JW, I don't know you so back off!
by Younglove1999 indid you ever feel that way when you were in "the truth"?
i hated that people tried to overstep the normal boundaries humans have with strangers and get all "brotherly and encouraging".
when we changed congregations, i found it so annoying when people we barely knew tried to act as if we were best friends.

I always liked how a lot of the JWs in my area used their membership in the JW organization as an excuse to act like inconsiderate pricks. Like, no matter what stupid @#$% thing they do or say, they know you will have to automatically forgive them because if you didn't, YOU would be guilty of not showing THEM brotherly love!
Although my brother and I have been out of the organization for some years, we still had a few friends who were JWs and they were good people. Well, one of the guys died, and we did not hesitate to go to the funeral to show this good man our respect and love for him. These "brothers" treated us like crap, even though we were very close and trusted friends of this man. We were there for the family in their time of need and helped them with the funeral arrangements. When it came time for the actual funeral, the JW elder brigade took it all over like they were in charge and wanted to control everything and have it like they wanted even down to who-parked-their-cars-where...... Seriously! Well, I don't want to give every little detail but the one that broke the camel's back was when my brother parked his vehicle and the "brothers" came out and asked him to move his vehicle because that area was reserved for "family". Well, my brother and I had already escorted the family into the funeral home, so we knew that was bullcrap. They just didn't want my brother's big ass truck parked nearby. Well, his wife just had a baby via C section, so she was sore and didn't need to be walking long distances. He explained this to the "brothers", but they kept asking him to move. My brother finally blew up at them and said "You're not my brother, and if you were, I'd kick your ass for being such an asshole!" Needless to say, they backed off! Well, we quickly payed our respects and said goodbye. We apologized to the dead brother's family for us having to leave so quickly and we left. What a way for the "Brothers" to put forth a good witness! Anyway, the brother's widow and son called to apologize and thank us for our help.
It has always pissed me off how they call themselves your brother as their screwing you up the ass. And it seems that the bigger an asshole you are, the higher your status in the congregation.

What am I doing wrong?
by tsunami_rid3r ini can't make enough money to pay my bills, and i attend school full-time 17 hours and work part-time at jamba juice 15 hours per week.
this is only giving me $375.
thats just enough to cover rent.

Tsunami_rid3r, I worked full time and went to school full time. It sucked, and I barely ever slept, but I did it. It can be done, but you have to be willing to work your fingers to the bone. At one point, in addition to a regular full time job, I cleaned carpets at night. I slept about 4 hours a night, but I made it through. Try looking at different schools and see if any of them offer online classes. I took a few that way, usually doubling up on the weekends.
If you can, quit the retail jobs. They usually don't pay enough to afford the gas to get there the next week. Talk to your school's office or advisor. Many colleges have job assistance programs to hook up their students with jobs that work around their schedules, sometimes even finding you a job in your field of study.

Does it matter whether you bought into it?
by tall penguin inin my time on the boards and my personal experience, it seems to me that those who really bought into what the org taught, in other words, tried to be a "good little jw", have a harder time when they discover it's all crap as compared to those who perhaps were "fringe" jw's or those who were living a "double life" or had doubts for a while.
he had been having doubts for a while and had been perusing jwd four years before he left.
he also had a more "normal" time as a teenager as he lived a "double life".

I was born into the Organization. It was hard leaving because of family and friends that I had. It wasn't a question of faith or belief. I left because I knew it was wrong. There are still issues, mostly regarding my nonexistant childhood, but for the most part, I'm ok. The sooner you slap yourself in the face and make yourself realize that you have to be your own person, the quicker you adjust and learn to live as yourself, not as a JW robot.

Having an extensive electronics background, I have always dreamed of being assigned to the audio department at a circuit assembly or district convention. I would like to hack into the microphone system during the keynote address and then play stratigically timed fart sounds in the PA system. I think it would greatly improve the talk.

sadly he lost his battle yesterday.. he was a little chap who i knew and was friends with my son from first day at primary school.

Honestly, this is what I think. Personally, if I knew someone who was suffering like that and I knew they were going to die a long, painful death, I would wish them a quick, painless death so they could be at peace and their suffering could end.
BUT I would NEVER say that to anyone because I know that can sound insensitive. That is something that I would keep to myself. When someone you know loses a loved one, you should offer your condolences and then listen to them. Allow them to grieve and help them in any way you can. Don't tell them how to feel. That's just common sense, no matter what religion you are.
Now, back to the comment that the dead 14 year old was better off dead because he had the resurrection hope...... BULLSHIT! Listen, if death were an easy way out, why don't all Jehovah's Witnesses commit mass suicide and simply wait for the resurrection? I mean, after all, the longer you're alive, the greater your chances of stumbling and sinning! More time on planet earth means more time to run afoul of the rules and regulations of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. Before they commit a sin worthy of being disfellowshipped, how much greater for them it would be to simply take a bullet to the head! By that logic, doctors who perform abortions should be saints because they allow the unborn to pass on without ever experiencing sin, guaranteeing them a successful resurection in the new system!!!!
Wow, did I go too far with that one? So, if I were confronted with some myrmidon (look that word up if you want an exact definition of a JW) who said something like that, I'd call them a heartless asshole and walk away.

I see people do stupid crap like this all the time. I see people run into stores and leave their kids in the car, sometimes with the engine running! In metro Atlanta, at least once a month we hear a news story of how some woman ran into a convenience store to buy beer, cigarettes, tampons, condoms, monistat 7 and some lottery tickets with her food stamps while leaving the kid in a running vehicle. Invariably, some illegal alien crackhead jumps behind the wheel, takes off without even knowing the kid is in the back and either abandons the car with the kid in it a few miles away, or throws the kid out of the car and drives off. It has happened enough times around here that everyone should be PARANOID about leaving ANYTHING in a car, much less your child! But, never underestimate the stupidity of the general public! We've had several children around here die from being left in hot cars. Hell, one mother left her kid in the car on purpose! She started a new job and didn't want to pay for a baby sitter, so she left the little girl in the car in the middle of summer, and the kid died in the parking deck of her new job!
For the first 5 years of my child's life, I was a single dad. I would never, ever, EVER leave my child alone anywhere for any length of time. When my daughter was a baby and we were taking trips out of state to see family, I would stop for gas only at places that had gas pumps that accepted credit cards, that way I wouldn't have to leave my daughter in the car by herself. Hell, I wouldn't even stop to pee because I didn't want to leave her alone while I used the rest room and I didn't want to drag her in a gas station men's room. Try driving for 11 hours without peeing! I think I tied my weiner in a knot that time!
The point is, a good parent can not and will not forget about their child. The child is the center of your universe. I think people that leave kids in cars unattended should die just like the the kid died. We should lock them in a hot car out in the hot sun and wait for them to die. We should all probably be in an air conditioned convenience store drinking an ice cold soda watching them as they die, too! Just my opinion.
