Our worst assemblies were eight days. My parents suited my brother and I up in body size cardboard placards, advertising the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation, string tied front and back together. We walked dirty city street corners tied in these signs, handing out handbills advertising the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation.

IF JWS NO LONGER FOLLOW KNORR'S TEACHING/IDEAS, DOES THAT
by badboy inmake him a false prophet or what?.

Read the Knorr produced Watchtower magazine the first year after Rutherford's death. Ya can't even see where Rutherford died. Knorr was a Rutherford pocket puppet. Two pups from the same bitch.

Just in case you missed it -- great comment by "easyreader" from another thread
by Alpaca inon metatron's thread about dubs going mainstream easyreader said this:.
another issue causing the decay is the lack of a "date".
in order for a cult to work, there has to be a date where everything will culminate.

Here in "Bible belt", the midwestern United States, the more incredible a religion is, the better people like it. Here we have a large northern Europe population and those Germans, Norwegians, and Hollanders enjoy tormenting their relatives on a good day. The Jehovah's Witness environment is fertile ground for them.
The midwesterners would support the Kingdom Halls if they had a video of Don Adams drunk in Vegas, screwin' a hooker on a black-jack table with a cross tattooed on his ass. -

We have a tenant we were trying to evict but before we could evict him, he got picked up for his 5th DWI and he's in jail. Saturday we meet his mother to help move his stuff out of the apartment.

Atheists/Theists: What is the best argument FOR theism (a God's existence) you have heard?
by Spook ini have lived for the last 3 years with two phd philosophers as roomates, both in the last year of their dissertation at reputable institutions (notre dame, penn/uic respectively).
they are both moderate semi-christian theists after having been fundamentalists as youths.
i have a sceince and engineering background and am a naturalist atheist former jw.

I have a theist friend who says that there MUST be a god because there are so many things he doesn't understand. That's the best argument FOR the existence of a god I have heard. -

House votes to require pledges to the flag...problems coming the Witnesses' way?
by passwordprotected inhttp://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=11&articleid=20090313_16_a1_oklaho6369.
house votes to require pledges .
the bill would make oaths to the state and u.s. flags a daily classroom event.. .

By nature, the "pledge", is just poetry. Only extremely superstitious people would imagine that some ghost or god will harm them for reciting poetry. That's just insane!

Is the Watch Tower a reverse Ponzi scheme?
by garybuss instartfragment .
is the watch tower a reverse ponzi scheme?.
isn't a ponzi an affinity scam?

I think Farkel's right (again). The Watch Tower is a regular financial Ponzi when I look at the communes at Wallkill, Patterson, and of course, Brooklyn, New York. The new energy (and money) certainly go to benefit the owners. One significant item (for me) to notice is that no cash is paid to any downstream players.
Benefits of a social and organizational nature certainly go to the old game players. -

Another way the WT can mainstream: DF'ing time limits
by JimmyPage init has been mentioned a lot here lately that the wt needs to either mainstream or become more cultish.
if they decide to mainstream, here's another way to do it without pissing off the old timers too much.
it would also make a lot of people within the borg very, very happy.

In my personal experience, disfellowshipping is simply a book printing business firing personnel. They don't WANT those fired back.

Welcome!
I had two idiot elders call on me after I had not attended a group meeting for 9 years. I gave them 10 questions and they could not answer even one. Nine years later I called one of em up to see how they were doing on my 10 questions and they still had no answers. I call them idiots because they fit the definition in a most comprehensive way.
The Witnesses made the mistake of taking everything away from me that they could. That left me in the interesting position of having nothing to lose by going public with my disgust with the Witness people and their offensive behaviors.
I've found it's never too late to get out of a bad deal.
