I asked her what this meant in day to day life, and she said that she would no longer repremand them (left that for dad) and that she saw them as spiritual leaders like her husband.
To steal a quote - I think I just threw up a little.
just a simple question.. within the jws, if a woman needs to pray for the group because no baptized man is present, she has to cover her head as a mark of respect/submission (take your pick).
it applies even if the male is a young child.
my question is, does the rule still apply if there's a male baby present?

i thought most of them were alright but a couple really sucked!
In each of the congregations I've attended there have always been one sympathetic, caring elder. in the 60's (pre-elder return) the Overseer was a stunning example of empathy and caring (Poe was his last name, he is one of my cherished memories, perhaps the only one, of growing up a JW). We had book study at his house.
All the others, without exception, were puffed up with pride in their own lofty positions, deferred to Alphas that were legalistic jerks.
I often thought into my teens and early 20's that it seemed a requirement that one good guy was necessary and sought after, or the BOE would implode from the weight of it's own self-importance.
if so, did it bother you that he had been reprooved and forgiven rather than reported to the police?

Serendipitous posting of a letter to my abuser...so I knew at least one, though thankfully not in my cong.
I knew three families where kids had extreme behaviors: in one, older brother (10) would penetrate younger sister with objects in my presence - this is the littel girl who would expose herself to a crowd of kids in the library room. In another, two boys (6 and 8) would show an exagerated interest in each others genital areas. In the final, an older sister (10 or 11) would insist on her brother and his playmates disrobe. Aside from the penetration of the first family, the other behaviors might have been just kids growing up, but for their consistent demands over time. Something just wasn't right.
ha ha ha !
that was just to get your attention !
here is the class system as it appears to me in wt world .
I always liked the "call no one your Father except the heavenly one" rule. I was speechless when they started calling the organization "mother"! Obeying the letter of the law??
...in all fiction:jealous and proud of it; petty, unjust, unforgiving, control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevent bully.
", says richard dawkins in the god delusion p51.
he goes on to say, "those of us schooled from infancy in his ways can become desensitized to their horror".. would you agree?.
As AA says, it's an exercise in definition by premise, without the possibility of examination. If the Bible says it, ipso facto it is true. If God did it, ipso facto it is righteous.
Myself, I will take my Eve-given gift of knowing right from wrong and live a proper life without the need for a fanciful God.
not looking to strike up the tired old creation/evolution debate.
just found this critter to possibly be an interesting example of a transitional animal currently alive.
looks like he just cant make up his mind whether he wants to be a fish or not.....or male or female for that matter.
"...male and female, and self-impregnating hermaphrodite, did He make them..."
so, first he calls me at work, we've been getting along fine, and asks me the % of how much i want to be in the truth.
i told him 50/50.
i like the spiritual aspect of it, the people, etc.
I am worried about kids being raised in the straight-jacket of any single religion. That includes JW. I think the JW doctrines of isolation (social and intellectual), superiority and thought control/brain washing/"education" are particularly abhorrent.
I'm glad you're not contemplating kids in the immediate future. That gives you time to think, him time to think. I would strongly suggest a written agreement that spells out some freedom and education that you want for your kids, something like they will be exposed to many religious services (or none at all), and will not be forced to attend any aprticular religious services (e.g., JW) against their own or either parent's wishes.
It's not my decision to make, and I don't like to come across as strident, but if it were me: I wouldn't want my kids exposed to the slavery (mental. physical and emotional) of the JW.
just curious...... have you as a jw / ex jw ever been to a psychic or spirit medium, or even played with a ouiji board?.
what was your experience ?
?.
Yes. I was told my life purpose was to "just see what things were like" here on Planet Earth at this time and place.
Can I go back now, please?
i wonder if someone who had never been to a kingdom hall would think this is funny.

Maybe you don't *have* to be a JW, but it helps! LOL in embarrasing snorts.
The "I LIke Chinese" is (as I'm sure many know) by Monty Python.
