I need some input...

hi everyone, something has been on my mind lately and i would really appreciate some comments.

i've posted a few topic discussions on my story as a dub, recent dicoveries of wt tampering with the bible translations they use and the subsequent emotions that came from learning that so many things i was taught growing up are lies, and about visiting various churches (chuck swindoll etc).

here's what has been on mind the last few days.

I wrote you once before. I don't know if you remember. You remind me... of ME.. just a few years ago. I do know what you are talking about. You are talking about the holy spirit. It is working in you.

We are very much not in touch with our spiritual selves. Look at what Jesus words were in John 14:16-20.

"I will ask the father and he will give you another counselor to be with you FOREVER. the spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him or knows him. But you know him for he lives with you and WILL BE "IN" YOU...............vs26..On that day you will realize that I AM IN THE FATHER AND YOU ARE IN ME AND I AM IN YOU."

The key words are "in". The holy spirit and Jesus is not with us.....but in us. He resides in us. That is why he knows all about us. Our thoughts, motives, heart condition and desires.

To further show this closeness, remember when Jesus said..."Destroy this temple and I will rebuild it in three days." He was speaking of himself. He is the temple. Three days later he was resurected.

Now look at what we are referred to. 1 cor 3:16 says.."Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives IN you?".....................(see the in word again)

Wow Lin.......see what Jesus is saying here? As you stay close to God and search out Jesus for your salvation you will become more intune to God. Your prayers will become more personal. You will really get to know Jesus as your best friend. You will never be alone. You will have peace because you will know that you will ALWAYS be with him. In this life and in the next. You will never die. That is why at John 8:51 Jesus said that if you keep his word...."you will NEVER see death."

That is what his death was all about. He died so that we never will !!!! It was a gift he gave us. A free gift. Remember I told you how we don't have to earn it.

Ephesians 2:8..."For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is a GIFT of God......NOT BY WORKS.........

Lin, producing works cannot save you thru Jesus Christ.......but being saved thru Jesus Christ produces works.

Each ones salvation and relationship with Jesus is personal. Each one has nothing to do with the other. God cannot be mocked. He knows all. You cannot fool him. Only worry about your own heart condition. It is all about your heart... your heart......and your heart. Just work on that. Not knowledge....not having all the answers. None of that saves you......only your heart for Jesus.

The next important thing is to be still and listen. Sometimes we can't hear God because we are too busy deciding what he should be saying to us. Some of us have a calling Lin. He may have plans to use you to help others. I don't know, but in his time you will know as long as you stay close to him.

Great News! and...Old Memories

my husband's oldest son just made his dad a grandpa again.

this time a boy.

hubby took off work today and has been over to the hospital to see him twice already, once by himself this morning and then later today he took caitlyn to see her little brother for the first time.

Go and enjoy this wonderful miracle!! Take the happiness that God has given you in life and relish in it. Leave the pain for him to handle. A birth of a baby is joyous for all. Make this your family now. Show them love. Bring gifts. Help out. Make the new parents dinners. Show your husband how happy you are for him. Show him how happy you are to be a part of his family. Be a part of it all. You will be so much happier and a better person for it.

You have had enough of being left out... we all have. End it here, don't add too it.

I feel damaged by my experience

hi to everyone on this board - i have been around reading many of your posts for some time now but have only just felt strong enough to post my own thoughts.

the watchtower has left me with guilty feelings that i find hard to cope with at times.

my story in the "truth" started when i was 18 years old.

Your post sounds so similar to another one that I just answered so I will tell you the same thing. It breaks my heart when I see people so lost and hurting.

First off, what you are feeling is very normal. Actually, you may not know it yet, but it is the holy spirit working in you. You are not an apostate. An apostate is someone that denounces God. IT is the WTS that calls people apostates for denouncing the organization. They are not God... they only make themselves out to be such.

I was raised a JW since I was a little girl. In the early 80's I was disfellowshiped. I spent 16 years away from God because I believed what they told me. That God wanted nothing to do with me anylonger and that he would not hear my prayers. I believed it was the truth and that I had been weeded out.

About 4 years ago I started to read the bible again. I could not believe the things I was reading was so different than what I had be taught all those years. It is not a religion that saves you. NO religion or man can do that. The only way you gain salvation is thru Jesus.

Acts 4:12 says..... "Salvation is found IN NO ONE ELSE, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." ...(see, the name that saves us us Jesus not Jehovahs witnesses. They say that....the bible does not)

Titus 3:5........."He saved us, not because of RIGHTEOUS THINGS WE HAD DONE , but because of his mercy."

Ephesians 2:8..."For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith----and this NOT FROM YOURSELVES, it is the GIFT of God... NOT BY WORKS, so that no one can boast."

(we are saved not by works which is the oposite of what they teach. All those time card hours reported count for nothing. It is not about the righteous things we do or by the works we do or by carrying a name of a religion. It is a GIFT.... A PRESENT from God. You don't have to do anything when you receive a present. You are grateful for sure.. but you don't have to earn a present. It is given to you in love.

There is nothing we can do to earn such a great present. Jesus did it all. He said when he died..." it is finished.

Like I said, it was awesome to read the real truth in the bible. When I came to undersand these things and became christian it was not that I had all the answers all at once..... but rather I finally was rid of the guilt to read the bible and believe what it said even though it was different than what I had been taught. I now had freedom.

The best thing I can tell you to do is to just read the book of John. Read it like you would read a good book. Get to know the main character (Jesus). I know this sounds silly, but you will be amazed at what you read. As witnesses we knew ALL ABOUT Jesus.... but we never really knew him.

Look what Jesus himself said....John 5:39......"You diligently study the scriptures because you think by them you posses eternal life.......... yet you refuse to to come to me to have life."( who does this sound like? Remember all the studing of scriptures and teaching gaining knowledge means everlasting life? Yet we never really knew Jesus... like a best friend.

So please try and do that for me. Just read the book of John like a good book. ... And don't underestimate the power of prayer. Talk to him just like you talked to us. You will be so amzed at the things that will happen for you.

Remember MOST OF ALL.. THAT this world belongs to Satan right now. The things that occur here are his doing... not God's. It breaks his heart to see such things. Remember, He offered the kingdoms of the world to Jesus becuase it WAS HIS TO GIVE. Jesus knew that.

The Glory Days Are Over

there is no doubt in my mind that the glory days of jehovah's witnesses are over.

from my knowledge and experience with wt history, i would define the glory days as the decades of the 1950's, 1960's and early 1970's.

with knorr's great expansionary vision and discipline, dubs in the 1950's became a "somebody" in the 1950's.

But what is sad is not that the foundations are falling apart, but the followers who really did love God are left with no where to go. Because they incorperated salvation and their religion as one the followers missed the whole point of the bible. That salvation was thru Jesus... not man.

If we who have left need support, think of those scrambling in a daze now as they walk out their doors with no where to go.

I guess that is why we are here. To welcome the newbies.

How do JW's define god in reference to Jesus?

in a group on yahoo, i'm involved in a discussion about the deity of jesus.

i've asked the witnesses there to give a specific definition of the word god (in reference to jesus) in john 1:1. so far they have not responded.

i was wondering if any current jws or or former jws here could give me a the proper watchtower definition/view.

I remember

i was 13 at the time that my only brother and his new wife introduced jehovah's witnesses to my family.. it was christmas time and we as a family were coming together to celebrate as we had done for as along as i could remember.. my brother said that him and his family would no longer celebrate and that we could discussed it at a later time... i was so upset.. my brother throwing away something that was so important too me...well i needed to know.. so my sister-in-law took me to my bedroom and showed me where we as christian shouldnt celebrate a holiday that is not of god.. again i was so upset and confused..... later the blood issue came up..my mother and father was upset by the thought that if anything happend to my niece and nephew that they would go to court to make sure they were taken care of.. and i told my mom why shouldnt she find out what they are being taught and then she would have grounds to fight if she had too...3years later my mother and father became a jw.... i struggled with this.. i never felt worthly of jehovah and his love.. i was so bad of a teenager.. so into the world.. how could he love me.....at 16 i was hooked on cigerettes and wanted to quit... i went to my parents and they went to the elders of their congregation.... one of the elders agreed to speak to me.. wheni went to the meeting i poured out my heart to this man.. and what he told me is that he could use me for time because i wasnt baptised... i was so hurt and turned off .. that it took many years and tears before i could get over that insult... years pass quickly.. and i am now in my 30's .

i just came out of an abusive relationship and was then practicing wicca... i was in a battered woman shelter.. and met a woman of the christian faith.. .

she gave me a book that talked about spiritual abuse.. here i was feeling abused and used and this book told me because i wasnt sharing god with my children that i was committing spirirtual abuse against them.. i got so scared i called up the local kingdom hall and started a study with one of the elders wife.. it didnt take to long to quit smoking and dedicate my life to jehovah... i was bapitised 5 months later and my oldest daughter bapitised a month after me.. life was great.. except i still felt as if i wasnt doing what i should for jehovah.. i was being told that i needed to get off welfare.. get a job.. when i did.. it was with a store that had catholic backing.. because it was tied to the beast.. i was made to quit as not to stumble a sister.. my daughter was working the field for 40 hours a week.

Ivory, I understand. I was raised a JW since i was a little girl. I knew nothing else and believed it was the truth. I was disfellwshiped in the early 80's and lost my family and friends. I did not have god in my life for 16 years because I believed what they told me. That God wanted nothing more to do with me and that he would not listen to my prayers. I lived in limbo away from God all that time.

About 4 years ago I too wanted my questions answered. I wanted to know if there was a heaven and so much more. I began reading the bible. It was hard because of the guilt I felt..... but I just kept reading it. I could not believe how different the things in the bible were from what I had been raised to believe my whole life.

Ivory.......just read the book of John like you would read a good book. Read it for enjoyment and read it WITHOUT the watchtower glasses on. You will be soooooooooooo amazed at what you read and how good you will feel. Most of all, even though it is hard, please try to pray. Just talk like you would to a friend. Talk to him just like you wrote in this post. God is working with you.

The thing that amazed me the most was that God still loved me. He never left me.....I HAD LEFT HIM...because of them.

Just listen to these couple of scriptures. They should cheer you up, fill you with hope and arouse your curiosity.

Acts4:12.........."Salvation is found in NO ONE ELSE, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (see, it does not say there is no other religion by which me must be saved. It is only Jesus that we can be saved by)

Titus 3:5......."he saved us, NOT BECAUSE OF THE RIGHTEOUS THINGS WE HAD DONE, but because of His mercy.." ( there is nothing we can do to get brownie points to be saved. It is not about works. It is about accepting Jesus and having a personal relationship with him. Not knowledge about him...but a personal relationship!!

John 8:51..."I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will NEVER see death." ( see what Jesus himself said. He did not say that you WILL DIE FIRST and then be resurected. He said that you will NEVER see death. In John 11:26 he also said that whoever lives and believes in him will never see death.

2John 5:12......."He who has the son HAS LIFE....." notice the present tense. It does not say "will" have life..... but "has life".

2Cor 5:8 the apostle Paul says he would prefer to be "away from the body and home with the Lord"

Philipians 1:23.....Again paul says that he is living in the body but that he desired to depart and be with Christ.

Acts 7:59 Stephan was being stoned to death and just before dieing he said this..."Lord Jesus receive my spirit."..............( he did not die and is waiting to be resurected. He asked Jesus to receive his spirit.

A Week Later; I'm Still Confused.......

well, it's been one week since mom called to tell me that she is reverting back to a previous behavior from 1981, called "hard line shunning".

this is after some ten years now, of having communication with me in a restrictive manner.

(well, as "normal" as it could be for us anyway.

This is the problem. Your mother at this time cannot think for herself. Cult use cunning words like.......a "true" christian would never............or a christian with a "good conscience" should do follow.........

See how it insinuates that if you do not do as they perscribe you are "not a true christina" or are not a christian with a "good conscience"

This has now come up with disfellowshiped ones and how to interact with them. In their latest August Kingdom ministry it says cunningly again that "LOYAL christians" do not hvae spiritual fellowship with anyone who has been expelled from the congregation....not even eating with such a person. It went on to say how christians should not even say Hi to such a person..as that is Jehovah's view on the matter. See how if you do not follow what they say your conscience should be you are

1)not a loyal christian

2)not following Jehovah's view on the matter (so in otherwards you are defying Jehovah)

A TRUE CONSCIENCE that is commited to obstaining from a path that feels is wrong will not sway no matter what. In your head and heart wrong is wrong!!!!

This is not your mother's conscience at work. You know how you can tell??????? Because if next week they came out with new light and told all JW's that you should win them over with honey and show them an extra portion of love their consciences would change immediately. Hence it is not a true conflict of conscience you mother has against you. It is a cult controlled conscience. Her conscience works out of fear of the authority over her.

A gun is being held to their heads, the only problem is that they don't see the gun, they only see the Watchtower.

It is easier to deal with if you understand your mother and have compassion for her, not anger or more importantly "guilt".

My mother is the same way to me. More so now than ever. It hurts and has hurt for the past 16 years.

i know you all are hurting really bad and i wish from the bottom of my heart i could do something.

my question is....if you know the borg is wrong and the wtbts is wrong then.........why do you still read and believe some of the stuff they write.???

It does happen and I am an example of it.

I was raised a JW since I was a little girl. I pioneered for many years and after I married. I was disfellowshiped in the early 80's and lost all family and friends. It was devastating. Yet for some reason I could not and did not want to go back. I still did believe it was the truth and that I had gotton weeded out. I did not measure up. All those works got erased with one announcement from the platform.

I spent 16 years in limbo away from God. I felt so unworthy that I dared not read the bible ever. I believed what they had told me. That God wanted nothing more to do with me and that he would not hear my prayers. I was always so hurt and disliked myself inside for not having done a better job worshiping him and running that race to the finish.

About 4 years ago I began reading the bible. I forced myself to. I could not stand not having God in my life and having answers to things. It was very difficult to do, but a force that I did not understand was working with me and came out of the clear blue. I now know that it was the holy spirit.

It took over 3 years of reading. I met a person who became my friend and after awhile I found out they were christian. I acceptedd an invitation to go to a non denominational church (calvary chapel). I felt so guilty going. I felt I entered satans den. I felt even guiltier because I liked what I heard the pastor speak about. This continued on for another couple of years. I could not understand this born again thing.

One day..... while on an airplane, of all places, (LOL) God hit me in a big way. I became born again in a big way. I finally understood what it was to accpet Jesus as my savior. To give him the deity, honor and thanks he deserved. I finally knew what being a gift given in grace ment. I finally understood that no man, or religion or amount of knowledge or works could save me.

Best of all, though you may not understand the pain and quilt ex Jw's go thru is........I was cured of it. It was not that I had the answers all at once......BUT I FINALLY HAD THE FREEDOM in my mind to read the bible and believe what it said with out being an apostate for not agreeing with the JW organization.

So.....it does happen. I am a born again christian who now tries to help other ex JWs that are hurting. I now can do this out of love and not do it because I have a time card to fill out and want to save my own hide by earning brownie points with God. What a difference to do acts out of love rather than obligation.

It is great to hear that you are getting a bible. The first couple of years I still read the NWT and I got the message that the orgainzation missed loud and clear. The NWT will do if you still have one, except for some alterations they made to prove their doctrines.

Just for and example I will show you a major change. The bible is clear that we are saved thru believing in Jesus, that when you really get to know him and believe that he was real he forgave ALL our sins and that he died and was resurected. It is also clear that it was a GIFT...like a present and that we do not have to earn it. He did the job of saving us and there is nothing we can do to add to that. Take note of these scriptures.

Acts 4:12......."Salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Right there that rules out the JWs.. it is Jesus name that saves, not carrying their name. You know how they feel you MUST be a baptised JW to be saved.

Ephesians 2:8....."For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through faith.....and this NOT FROM YOURSELVES, it is a GIFT of God....NOT BY WORKS, so that no one can boast."

Again it shows that all those hours spent in the field service to save our hides do not add brownie points with God. We were so self righteous. We liked to be called pioneers, ministerial servants, elders and such. There is not enough works we could do to buy our way out. Jesus paid the price for things he did not do, but things we did. He did not derserve that, but he did it because he loved us so much and gave us this gift.... this present.

You know how zelous JW's are about knowledge saving you along with works. Look as Jesus own words at John 5:39

"You diligently study the scriptures because you think that by them you posses eternal life........yet you refuse to come to me to have life."

Wow.. think about that!! Do you ever hear Jesus given any diety in the kingdom halls. They know all ABOUT HIM..... but they do not really KNOW HIM. Big difference. I knew all the scriptures and my head was filled with knowledge, but I never, never, never knew Jesus. Like a friend. Infact, Jesus calls us His friends.

Now the clincher with the NWT...... As witness we all knew John 17:3. Look at how they changed Jesus words and meaning by adding their word 'KNOWLEDGE"

The NWT reads this way:.......""This means everlasting life, their taking in "knowledge" of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."

ALL OTHER BIBLES..... any of them read this way...

"Now this means eternal life: that they may KNOW you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent forth."

Big difference between taking in knowledge to save you and knowing Jesus to save you.

There is many other word changes, but like I said, they cannot change the context of the bibles meaning that we are saved thru excepting Jesus and nothing else is required. What we do after just comes from the heart. I did not spend time on this post for you today to fill out a service card with how much time I spent on you............... I was not required. Because of the gift I received I felt love for you and did it because I care. Whether I wrote this or not has nothing to do with being a child of God's and being saved.

I am sorry this is long. I wish I could wave a magic wand and show you so many things and have you understand instantly.... but it just does not happen that way. I pray others read this post to and become curious enough to really just plain old read the bible. No religion saves you. Just Jesus does.

As Matthew 23:4 , and it fits the JW's....."They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders,....... yet the same book of Matt 11:30 says.."My yoke is easy and my burden light.."

Can you any of you say that about the organization. We were burdened to the max. That should not be so with Christ.
