  Getting depression.

  Attempting suicide

  Spending time in psychiatirc hospital

  Going before a Judicial Comittee

  Later on being told I had to leave my wife and family, because I was a "spiritual danger" to them

  Not having spoken to my wife and two daughters for 4 years because I left the JW's.

  Still going through it.

  On the positive side becoming a Christian, finding a church which has been so supportive and loving they have helped me carry on.

  Finding this discussion board and realising that what I went through with the JW's was nothing compared to some.

  Some of the experiences have broght tears to my eyes.

  How could an organisation that portrays itself as "Jehovah's loving organisation" cause so much suffering and sorrow. It is a deception made in Hell.

  ARE ELDERS TAKING A CHANCE?

  i ask this in all seriousness because we all know that each of us has a different boiling point.

  i've spoken to quite a number of exjws (and even jws when i was a borgite) who've said something like "i'd really like to smash (put elder's name here)'s face in!".

  well, what if someone had his or her loved one separated from them through shunning, for example?

  As JT says the Elders are just as much "duped,controlled" as any other JW in a congregation.

  Even if an Elder was given a thump by someone. If it came out that the person had just reason to do it and/or it came to the attention of the media, which the WT would consider worse than the Elder getting a thumping. All the WT would so is say that te Elder had not followed the "correct procedure" as laid down by the organisation. Probably some "procedure" that the Elder had never heard of. The Elder would be removed as a show that something was being done. All the other JW's will think what a wonderful organisation it is that it was all sorted out

  From what I can gather numbers in Britain have dropped by 2.900 publishers, the average down by 500.

  Should The Age Of Consent Be Lowered To 13?

  at present the age of consent in the uk is 16. .

  in spain the age of consent is 13. .

  the argument i have heard put forward is that a legal age of consent has little effect on younger people.

  The age of consent was made 16 during the late 19th century, because many younger girls were being used in prositution at the time. Return to to a lower age (13) and I'm sure the same problem will arise again.

  Would it mean also that the age for gay sex recently reduced to 16 in the UK would also have to follow suit?

  So how could you call someone a peadophile, if they are LEGALLY having sex with a 13 yr.old girl or boy.

  Do u know any JW"s that have suicided?

  sorry if this is a sad question, but i know of 3 jw's that have suicided.

  i haven't known any personally, but i was wondered if you know any or know of any jw's that have suiced?

  and do you know the reason why?

  I attempted suicide in 1996, suffering from acute clinical depression,due partly personal problems, and partly due to being a JW (of 25 years at the time and a MS). The feeling of that you had not only let your family down, but more importantly Jehovah and His organisation.

  What finally made me leave the JW's was the total lack of help, support and love. To them it would have been better if I had succeeded. I was an embarrassment to them.

  Their answer was to separate me from my wife and family.

  Special Offer of the month - how did it originate?

  first of all, maybe the question should be, 'why do we need a special offer of the month?'.

  every other week, i get a macy's catalog with their special offer of the month, the society is no different.

  if this is supposed to be truth, you should not need to have any special offer of the month.

  I was Literature Servant for 5 years. Every so often the offer would be, get rid of, sorry, I mean offer books published before a certain date. Used to think myself why offer something to someone, then have to explain that a teaching had changed. But as already stated good business practice, get rid of old stock, before replacing with new.

  The TMS was the only good thing that I came awat with from the WT. I was no speaker when I became a JW in 1971. The TMS taught me how to speak in public. How to contruct a talk and all the things that went with it gestures etc. I eventually was able to give public talks. That was in the days when you where counselled from the platform etc. Reading the above on how they have changed the TMS format, it seems they have "dumbed down" the whole thing. Don't they think its worth teaching members anymore?

  Since leaving the JW's in 1999 I have used what I learnt in the TMS, to be able to give talks to local churches and groups on the JW's. Also when having to speak at seminars and courses at work.

  I gave a copy of the TMS guidebook,old version, to a friend. Who has since used it when taking business seminars showing men on how to put their points and sales pitch across. After all it was designed to help people "sell".

  i was wondering who else watched the program.

  it was dealing with the discrepancies between the lower class workers and the upper class executives.

  I earn £16,000 p.a. what I want to know who has got my other £8,000.

  That "Jehovah's loving organisation" answer to my depression was to declare me a "spiritual danger" to my family, and to get my wife to kick me out of the family home.

  I was probably more of a danger to myself than anybody else at the time.

  Up to that time I did not doubt the WT teachings. It eventually led me to look more closely at their history and teachings.

  i saw a posting not long ago stating that the wt link birthdays or similar, with "creature worship.

  can anyone direct me to it.. thanks

  What I was looking for was a posting, if I remember right. Quoting from a Watchtower that, singing "Happy Birthday, giving presents etc." to a person on their birthday, was equivilent to creature worship.
