  need help please with letter to my dad

  i haven't been posting lately - work is busy and all that.

  so i get a letter from my dad yesterday.

  he and family just recently visited.

  could jw's prove their beliefs without watchtower literature?

  i was pondering this question today.

  i thought it might be an interesting tactic to use with my family.

  if i simply asked that they prove all beliefs by the bible alone.. growing up - every time discipline or counsel was given - it was based on getting out the bound volumes.

  i was having lunch today with some co-workers and my jw past was brought up.

  always a facinating subject!.

  i would love some clarification - i understand how russel was the first president and was calling himself and his followers bible students - was judge rutherford also calling himself a bible student?

  question - scriptures that prove a paradise earth

  i was hoping for some help on proving that a paradise earth is in fact a true teaching.

  i've only found 3 that use the word "paradise" - but not sure if it refers to an earthly paradise.. thanks!.

  i'm in the middle of reading coc.

  quite the eye opener to things i already suspected.

  my question is this - if some on the governing body have doubts, how can they just go along with it?

  i'm curious if while you were or still are involved in the organization - did you ever express doubts, especially to grown children?

  or, if you had doubts did you still encourage your family to participate?

  in your experience, what would be the best way to start a conversation about what you truly believe?.

  ok, well i'm feeling horriable today.

  dad called wanting to encourage me to attend the memorial.

  hearing the sadness in his voice - i couldn't bear to tell him how i feel.

  thought of birthday rebutal

  growing up of course as a jw child - birthdays couldn't be celebrated because the only instance of a birthday was when john the baptizer had his head cut off.

  sooo... seams like "the memorial" shouldn't be celebrated because jesus was murdered.

  just a thought.

  how do you handle relatives questions on your jw status?

  i was curious how others handled the questions like - so, when is your convention, how many publishers do you have now, etc.

  these questions always come up with the once a year visit to jw relatives.

  usually it's asked in earshot of my jw parents.

  Raising children without a religion - thoughts, advice?

  almost ready to take the plunge, but have held back for years because of topic.

  husband and i have not been active for many years and no longer consider ourselves jw's.

  we also have no desire to be part of an organized religion.
