sitting through the items with experiences at the one day special assembly day last weekend reminded me just how dreadful having to handle experiences at the assemblies were.
when i was an elder, i used to dread getting assembly assignments that included experiences; they were always so fake.. .
nothing ever happened in our circuit that was ever noteworthy or outstanding, and you usually ended up re-hashing the same old stuff from years ago.. .
The most cringeworthy are the made up ones,that you can tell came to nothing. Also squirm -in -your -seat embarrasing was the lack of interviewing skills of most who handled the item,usually an upcoming brown nose,they often just repeated what the interviewee had just said before getting on,just to fill the time I suppose.

why, if all things were created through jesus, does the new world translation wait till genesis 1:26 for god to say let "us" make, and then revert back to ignoring the us in verses 27-31 to just god.
in verse 31 it says again just that god saw everything "he" made was good?.
31 after that god saw everything he had made and, look!
I don't think we need to read too much into the switch from God to us,
I think of it a bit like an Architect looking at a building he designed,at one point we may say"that he built" at another we may acknowledge the others involved in the construction.
I don't think the writer of Genesis was concened with teaching us about the relationship between God and Christ,but certainly he shows that God was not a lone" Being "in the creation work.

i did not, but i did fs when i had seriuos doubts and i thougt some householders had pretty good arguments some times, but i could not admit it of course.. and i did fs for a long time after i realized the magazines was very very poor.
i still remember my very last hour from door to door.
geee that was torture, i hatet myself and hoped no one was at home.. do you remember your last fs hour?
I started to have a real problem withthat darned "Bible Teach" book,it suddenly hit me that I couldn't go and tell people that the Bible taught that 1914 was significant,when it did not.
Eventually after 6 months of not going out,having for the previous 50 years or so been a stalwart,(now I'm just a wart) an Elder nailed me down for a Shep. call. I explained to him that 1914 was just not in Daniel 4 or anywhere,but he never gave me a good answer or got back to me.
He is one of the most "Society" men I know and if they told him to whack himself in the balls each day with a seven pound hammer he would do it !
But after that realisation that I could not present that book,let alone study in it with someone, I never went out again,and now I don't go to meetings either thank the LoLove

we need a book about what to say to a jw in the same manner.... .

Did the Borgs book have in it's title the word "from" (the scriptures) in the sense of apart from or away from the sciptures?
If so it's one of their more honest titles as most of it is reasoning that has nothing to do with the word of God.

I don't know that I ever thought of anything as confusing,but a hell of a lot was impossible to swallow. !
I remember some years ago we had a WT study article or two on Daniels prophecies of 2300 days and 1260 days etc. I gave twelve or so questions on the prposterous WT explanations of this to a number of Elders, I never got an explanation,just sidestepping comments,and "wait on Jehovah" type bollocks.
Why oh why did I not fully wake up then????

I ain't never goin' back either, but years ago I was asked by a bro .to be his Householder on a Serv. Mtng. item about overcoming objections.
He was a big-headed arrogant guy and said to me just before we went on the platform "Oh just say your'e not interested or something,I'll overcome whatever you say"
So, after his intro, I said "No thanks I'm an Atheist,thank God!"
The audience fell about laughing and he just got off the platform....speechless !
What a result, I wasn't a householder very often after that.

every year it is different by a big margin from the last,they are all good though... this years is great, a roaring 7% abv and great taste,as my good lady remarked "it's so christmassy you can taste the tinsel !".

One day I'll get to do my Beer Drinkers World Tour and try all the different ales.I am sure it would be a spiritual journey based on the Irish logic of beer drinking which goes something like this:
"If we drink beer till we're drunk,we go to sleep,

the credit crunch bit into my own personal economy a few weeks ago when the weekly paper i write for had to shut down.
they were denied a line of credit and a few of their major advertisers had their lines of credit frozen.
i can't even tell you how depressed i've been!
