what was the jw`s high water mark?

when were the jw`s at there peak.

i remember when i became a witness in 1986 there seemed to be almost an electricity in the air in my part of the world nottingham england (for all those outside the uk where robinhood legend comes from).. when we went on the ministry there would sometimes be as many as 60 people mainly in there early twenties, we couldnt fit in one room and had to stand outside sometimes, now when i see the jw`s out and about there maybe 4 or 5 in number mainly old people.. i remember those days, coming to the end of the cold war, berlin wall coming down, band aid (feet of clay prophecy) peace and sercurity etc etc, it seemed arrmageddon was just round the corner, of course the jw`s still had there sell by date then (1914 gen).

was that when the witnesses were at there strongest.

aside from the bible predicting that People aka the 'rivers will dry up' aren't you asking opinions of people that are no longer in the loop? if a new book came out and got a lot of new membership would they know?

so, we were brought up in/enticed into an organisation that we believed was a spiritual paradise.

everyone appearing to be better than the world around them.

my experience was of youngsters leading double lives, partying hard like the best of the world.

this thread just shows human nature is the same. People say..

When I was a witness - the people around were good.

now I am not a witness - the people around me are good.

all this shows is loyalty to our current situations and maybe justifying new choices. Imperfection is imperfection no one is free of it till Jesus comes. This is a bible fact that you have to deal with when dealing with current humanity in others and in ourselves, whatever our situation.

in it, i stated that at matthew 24 jesus warned his followers against seeing wars, earthquakes and famines as being signs.

i have not wavered from that position, which i have given in my posts here at times.. .

birth pangs is the beginning of labour nothing to do with the 40 weeks although you are right a woman can give birth from 37 weeks onwards all dates on birth are estimates.

labour pains are the beginning of labour which can be for hours or days even and are extremely painful. In not so distant times giving birth was one of the biggest killers of women and yet it also heralded the beginning of life.

When a woman starts labour pains/beginning of birth pangs they at first are dull ache and quite distant apart, coming in waves but they serve as a warning before they get closer. The pain of your innards tearing apart comes into play later but at the start you know to get ready an goto the labour ward and gather your family and who you need around you.

For the record Jw's have never claimed inspiration for their publications only biblical inspiration, the bible is the source for what they preach...

they also prayer for holy spirit guidance towards the princples of the bible scriptures.

JW Defenders- Is WTS Right to Insist You Stay Away From these Websites?

i read these threads and there are a few that bend over backwards to say why wts is correct on this issue or that issue.. they act like typical jw's that refuse to acknowledge points that may show that wts is not following the scriptures or that wts goes beyond the scriptures in a way that is not supported by others.. the point could be the blood issue or shunning or whether 1799 or 1914 was the start (or finish?

) of the last days or whether there is a faithful and discreet slave class or not.

i don't want to harp on each point.

Basically "reply to me but don't keep replying or i'll see you as a troll" this is not a fair platform. Presumably anti-witnesses such as yourself can freely post as much as they like without being called trolls or 'trevors'?

at the end of mathew 24 Jesus summerises his point with a parable.

mathew 24 :45"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

showing this is all about keeping prepared and not falling into bad thinking. That the master will not return for a while yet and so getting into wrong practises. the wise servant that did things in the proper time was rewarded.

this is about keeping prepared and recognises the signs from the birth pangs onwards of Jesus coming so he finds you doing your job even if he is unexpected.

If The Bible Is The Word Of God...

many here have abandoned the bible as "the word of god" and there are numerous reasons for said abandonment.

however what i am interested in finding out is if the bible is the word of god, then what would you expect to find?.

erm it just ocurred to me you are all say Jesus is one of his kind but then wouldn't that go against trinity theology that says Jesus's kind is God and there are 3 of them of the same kind/nature within God?
