so along the line of other threads about mortality and every disease known and unknown to man, i pose a question:.

if you are an active jw, how much time per week do you spend on regular exercise (not the sunday afternoon softball game)?.

if you are an inactive or ex-jw, same question, only: how long did it take you to realize that regular exercise should be a part of your life to maintain/improve your health?.

The prayer about your attire was too funny. I remember a broter approaching me about a dress I was wearing, saying that he could see straight through it and could see the color of my undies, and that I may stumble some of the younger brothers. Any way I was so pissed at his comment, because my undies, just so happen to be flesh color. So I told him if he would direct his eyes to his bible or his wife undies and not my flesh colored panties, It would help not to STUMBLE me and it just so happened that my husband was visiting the KH and I call him over and asked if he could see my underwear, he was looking very hard and said loud, no aren't you wearing a that brown thong thing, you can't see anything. And because I thought I was protecting my husband from being stumbled (he is a nonjw, this is for those who didn't know this), I didn't go into why I ask him if he could see my undies.

It never ceases to amaze me, the more religious you are, the more aware of anything sexual you are.

I bought the book for the Body for Life and think it is wonderful, I have been trying to convince my husband to go on that plan with me. I think it would be wonderful if we made it in that book with our before and after pictures.

Meet the Parents!

well, i went to see my parents last night.

it was the first i had seen or spoken to my mother in over 8 months.

i also was able to see my nephew who is almost 2 and whom i haven't see in exactly a year.

I have not officially welcomed you to the forum, so welcome. I'm glad your visit was some-what successful.

I relate to your feeling about not having the same relationship as you once had. I use to feel the same way about my parents. But now realize the old relationship was not real, it was based on a condition of pretense. And even though my parents may feel a little uncomfortable with the REAL me, I feel wonderful, because I'm not compromising myself for them and especially for some bogus religion. And after I was comfortable with me, I started asking my parents, real questions about themselves, not the bullshit JW questions (are u auxillary pioneering, how's your bible study going, why does sister so and so let her kids participate in sports). And I started talking to them about the AUTHENTIC me and telling them about my life, even when they did not ask. And now I find they are now enjoying our new relationship and yes, they sometime throw in a line about going back to the KH or my dad will tell my kids to ask me to take them to the KH. I usually just laugh it off and tell him for every hour I spend at the KH you will have to read Crisis of Conscience and that usually end the conversation.

Hang in there. I find the more comfortable you become with your life, then others seem to just follow.

Masturbation

the title of this thread was one of the stumbling blocks of my study.

as a single full time father(with no time for dating)of a soon to be tenage son this was a major point of imprt to me.

the point came up during a discussion on porneia(sp?).

This topic is so funny, because I remember when our son was reaching puberty and I asked my husband to talk to my son about how unclean masturbation is (at the time I was a practising JW and my husband is a worldly man). My husband looked at me strange and said, "If I talk to him, I will give him tips on how to masturbate discreetly and effectively and how I wish he would practice maturbation. He also told me that masturbation is not in the bible and that I should stopped letting those damn JW run my life (he was very irritated).

Well over the weekend I attended a sex toy party and enjoyed the party so well that I bought a lot of toys, plus I book a party for me to host. When I came home with my toys, my husband joked, I know you didn't buy toys for self enjoyment. I had to laugh and told him, now I know why most JW are uptight.

I find exercise to be very important in my mental health as well as my physical. When going through therapy, the therapist keep stressing I take care of myself. And one of the ways for me to start was to lose 80 pounds I had gained because of a medication that was prescribed and also from my exercising the fork. So I signed up at the gym and started taking water aerobics and hired a personal trainer. After 2 weeks I started feeling much better - mentally (exercise helps produce serotonin). Now after a year of regular exersize and taking Tae Kwon Do, I have lost 50 pounds and still losing and feel so great.

it's due tomorrow or sat., depending ... anyway, the paper is almost done, but i'm trying to collect and print out some "end of the world" pics to submit with the text.

I understand PTS because I was diagnosed with it and have read quite a few books on it. But I think instead of calling out stumble, you have traded it for post traumatic Syndrome. Your expect everyone to pour out compassion and understanding to your situation, but you are so quick to jump on others. I'm not a professional, but I think you are using your life experience to be an excuse to do whatever the hell you want to others and then blame it on your past.

I remember in another post you stated you understood the blank condenscending stares of a person not really listening and you contributed this behavior coming from the men in you area. Well I don't know you on a personal basis, but from reading your post, I can understand why ANYONE would give you the glazed over look.

Being that you have gone through so much abuse yourself, I don't see how you could question another person experience. I don't know what you are going through in your present life, but many times your post come across as being so negative and mean spirited with no compassion whatsoever.

I personally think you are a parent first, and a wife second. And I question any WEAK minded women for staying with such a fithly disgusting slug. There is no excuse for this man's behavior (drunk or not), nor the mother's choosing to want to be with a vile thing.

I don't know if the story is true or not. But remember the story is being told by a friend, not the actual victim. But to me, it sounds very reasonable, in the stories I have heard told by many friends of mine (not witnesses).
