update...husband made appt. with the elders, what do you think of this?....

ok... so my husband felt bad that the elders wanted to meet with us and he wasn't responding... so he set it up for saturday at 2 even though everyone said dont meet with them.

oh ya, and everyone said not to meet with them at your house, but again, he didn't want to rock the boat.

it's funny, though he was the first one to leave, he's still afraid and doesn't want to "raise any red flags" he's willing to just say "we're discouraged, can you just leave us alone fora while" feel free to yell at him (robert7).. here's the thing.

I must disagree... I'm not as hard-hitting as Dawg but there are times when we can say things. Since R7 and NL4U are in this together, what's the problem with her speaking her mind and getting it over with? I feel peace knowing that no elders are losing sleep about me. On the other hand, every CO visit the elders look at your inactive card and say, "we gotta pay oompman a shepherding call"... it never ends until you end it.
NL4U...No need to ride. "Get out of her"... and be free with your family and new found apostafriends....They won't bug you anymore....

Awakened I agree!! Get out of her and go on with your life! They can't bother you anymore, your Free, you and your Family! And believe me the longer you are out, the sweeter it becomes. The more you see what rubbish was taught, and how now you can serve God without 12 men setting the standards.

They never did pin us on the question actually, we refused to say it. Then they had my Mom call me and ask it, to see if I would say "the words". So be careful how you word things. They obviously felt they had enough without our "confession" to DA us. I have to say, I feel as you do.. I felt like a thorn too, OUT WITH IT!!!

I celebrated my daughters birthday for the first time this year too, her 10th. :-)

I am not an elder, but my husband and I recently(Spring 2007) said something similar in a meeting with Elders who came to our house. They immediately wanted to hold a committee meeting, to which we refused. At that point the PO screams over the Phone to my husband. Then they start to try and get us to say "I no longer Consider myself one of Jehovah's Wittnesses".. It was really sad to see them try and manipulate our words. Within two weeks they had recieved a letter from WBTS saying we had "disassociated ourselves by our actions".

Despite how hard it was, I would do it all over again. We felt great for standing up and speaking the truth and for God. We left all the lies and deceptions to them. We posses better values then that, and they no longer have an ounce of control over us.

You and your husband will be in my prayers.

i love my dad & mom so much.

they are just so involved with the religion and will not see any other point of few.

my son is with my parents spending his first week of summer vacation with them.

Baby Girl,

My heart goes out to you. It hurts so much! They really cannot even hear themselves and how absurd they sound in their logic. They raised us, and yet all the sudden think we have become this evil person, because we disagree with 12 men in brooklyn. A parent who was not in a cult would be able too look at your character and know that you seek truth, and if you made this decision perhaps there is merit too it.

Remember they are not themselves anymore, they have their minds captured and controlled. It doesn't help the pain, but might help with anger and moving forward. I have to agree with some previous posts too. Watch them with your children. While you want your children to be around them, your parents have it pounded into them that they are suppose to "save" their grandchildren from the bad mistakes their parents have made... the mentality of they lost you but won't lose them if they can help it. Just be careful and ask your children what is said to them, and how to respond. Also have to perhaps speak with you parents about what subjects are allowed.

i think at one point i did.

looking back i can't see why i thought like that.

i always had doubts about it but you would hear the old 'gods loving dicipline' line.

Sure did!

I shunned my younger brother for 15 years!! I thought I was doing the "right and Loving" thing. It always, always felt wrong though... ya know that feeling of it just not being right.

First thing I did after waking up was call my brother and wholeheartedly apoligise for cutting him off based on commands from a group of Men. Bless his heart, he forgave me right away and said "it's ok you only thought you were doing the right thing." Hope I can be that forgiving when my turn comes.

Suggestions for JW Girlfriend?

so i've been seeing this jw girl for a couple weeks now... she kind of contacted me out of the blue (i've known her since i was 4, shes two years older than i) and wanted to hook up for coffee or something.

i avoided it for about half a month.

not really avoided it, but was going to have fun with it when it came, because i thought she was just going to try to encourage me to go to meetings and whatnot.. so, first time she calls me up at like 9:30pm on a weeknight to come over to her house... so i ride my bicycle over and go inside and she and her cousin were getting drunk on alcohol and they started getting me to drink.

This looks to be a bad situation that will just get worse.

The girl must be having some emotional rebellion.(and apparently physical) From what you say, despite her actions, she still has a conscience to recall to her all her recent actions. It may not be long until the impact of what she done, which is completely contrary to what she says she believes, crashes down upon her.

As for you, It does not seem to be such an event for you. But be aware, that if you care for her, you are going to have to help her avoid her course of getting drunk, drugs, and sex. Her self respect seems in serious jeporady and although I do not agree with the WT cult mentality. She very well may have a spiritual need that is now been trampled on.

There is alot more to this picture.. behind the scenes... then you realize I am afraid.

we've been best mates since we were kids, he was brought up in the ' truth ', but left a number of years ago.

we talk about just everything.

ARE YOU AN INTELLECTUAL? Why not?

i think i heard the word "intellectual" for the first time when i was less than ten years old.. my grandmother said to me that the presidential candidate for the democratic party (adalai stevenson) was an "intellectual".. the way she said the word...the timbre of her voice...the look of admiration on her face...led me to believe this was a good thing indeed!.

i think i may have asked her what the word meant, but, i don't recall exactly what she told me.

perhaps enough to confirm that this fellow stevenson was a "thinker" of admirable stature.. fast forward.. by the time my teen years came along there was a kind of dichotomy in society between so-called "eggheads" and common folk.
