Mark my words.....Time is short.....
by LDH inthe society will not and can not allow current levels of defection without sanction.
shunning is their hallmark and what allows members to live in their hypnotic dream-like state, away from the evil informative apostates.. soon they will have to either change their baptism questions again, with the phrasing something like &"only by doing all the things jw in good standing do can we be considered as jw" blah blah blah.
they will then use that as a springboard to da or df members who don't attend meetings.. either that, or they will adopt another one of their stunning resolutions [8>]like they've resolved in the past.

It is time for some drastic changes!
Maybe some new savvy governing body members will manage to take on this task without upsetting all the J.W.s
However it happens, it does need to be done. If its for the better and helps the witnesses live longer and emotionally healthy lives, I dont care if Fred Flintstone does it.
Sorry, My son is watching the cartoon right now so the name came to mind..
Anyway,
Ya' know what I mean.
I hope things change for the better. -

My JW daughter told me....
by Yadira Angelini inwe were driving in her car a couple of weeks ago, (the night i have visited her kh) and she told me, that she was going to postpone her november trip to italy; instead, she was thinking about going when the new system was here.
i asked her amusedly: "are there going to be airplanes on the new system?"...
she responded: "well.... we are going to be using our 100% of our brains".

Yadira,
Your daughter trying to imagine life in the new system reminded me of one of my grandmothers very old J.W. books. I dont remember which one it is, its somewhere under my bed right now. It talks about every witness soon having to prepare a room in their home for their dead relatives that would soon be resurrected and needing a place to stay. It went on to give examples, in detail, how life would be for them saying, "We will have to explain things to them like how lights can now be turned on with a switch because people who died before electricity was invented will not understand, they will probably attempt to blow out the light bulb".
It also talked about not having children until after armageddon. I noticed my grandmother had drawn a black line through those paragraphs. She already had children.
I think it is very cruel to encourage witnesses to put their lives on hold and even more deranged to go into full detail with some kind of imaginary scenario involving their dead loved ones.
You must have a hard time biting your tongue when your daughter brings those types of things up. She is lucky you are so patient. -

What kind of music do you listen to?
by Leander ini'm a music junkie, i like pretty much all types of music.
but in particular i would have to say jazz is my favorite, but not the watered down kenny g style of jazz.
i prefer the straight ahead, hard bop type of jazz.. lately i've been really getting into psychedelia rock.

Anything with a good beat.
Im from the Detroit area.
I also love Enya, Cranberries, Celine Dion, Shakira and almost any female singer with a strong voice or message.
Classical is nice to relax to while on line.
Sargon,
I used to despise Lawrence Welk ballroom and polka music but now they remind me of my grandparents and make me smile when I hear them. -

Teejay,
You said,
"Violet WANTS to be a Witness. Understand? Let her be a Witness. Why act a fool by giving her grief"?
When I am involved in a discussion with Violet I am usually saying what I believe to be true based on my experiences in the W.T.S. Obviously you have not lost a loved one to the bogus teachings of the society, otherwise you would not feel that our concern is "acting like a fool". The fact of the matter is people are dead.
This isnt a joke. It shouldnt be taken lightly. Yea people bitch about the countless hours spent in kingdom halls, in studies, in service etc.
You and I both know that there are life threatening doctrines that need major revising. Do you love your wife? Would you let her die refusing a blood transfusion? How would you feel if your wife let your child die on the operating table because the W.T.S. said blood transfusions are wrong according to the bible.
People are living that very reality. -

Did U find Sheperding Calls rude?
by Reborn2002 inreading the lb thread "home but hiding" struck a chord with me.. i remember when i was inactive for the period of about a year the elders made a few "sheperding calls".. did anyone else out there find these very rude and condescending?.
first of all, in my case at least they always showed up unannounced.
how much do you think those "hell-ders" would like it if someone randomly dropped by their house unexpected?

I imagine that would have been quite stimulating for them too!
