I would feel some guilt if I had to accept a transfusion.
How could you not, when youve been told your entire life it is like an ultimate sin.
I dont think I would be able to refuse a transfusion if it meant I would die. I wouldnt want to put my husband and kids through that. That would be like, "forget you guys, As long as Im in the paridise, thats all that matters. See Ya"!
Sorry W.T.S., but I do have a conscious.

a little about myself, part one
by shecky2 ini've been posting here for a few months now but i suddenly realized that i don't say a whole lot.
so i thought i would tell you all a little about myself.. i was born in a little village on the base of the andes mountains called urumbamba in peru.
my father, a local witch doctor left my mother when i was born because he thought my mother had given birth to the devil.

Wow,
sooooooo, your not really the devil are you?
My dad left before I was born but it was because he was irresponsible. Too bad he wasnt smart enough to think of an excuse like that one. There are times I think my children are devils but I will always love them and never leave them. Guess that would make me "Holy Heaven, Mother of Devils". -

Grandfather died
by Cygnus inand now there is a debate between my father and his sister whether there should be a memorial service at the kingdom hall.. is there a rule whereby an elder who gives a memorial service at a kingdom hall must use the society's outline?
because my father and my grandmother have made it quite clear that he under no circumstances do they want that.
(i'm very blessed to have jw family who do not shun me even with the long hair (yes it is growing back), earring, and, oh yeah, disfellowshipment).

Im sorry about your grandfather.
When mine passed away we had the funeral at the funeral home with a brother speaking. I felt like I was sitting through a Sunday talk. My Aunt encouraged it, she said it would be a great chance to witness to all the worldly people who would be attending. How awful to use a persons death as a way to recruit new members. They even left a watchtower sticking out of his pocket as he was being shown. God, now that I talk about it, it sounds so bizarre. They said a few words about him but I wish the speaker would have said more about my grandfather as a person, since he was such a great guy. They did however, go on and on about how he died faithfull since he refused a blood transfusion. When my grandmother died (of natural causes) the funeral was the same. There wasnt much said about her as a person.
Is there a way you can see the finished talk before they speak? Maybe you could add in a few words. I suppose they would never let "just anyone" speak at the end either, huh? What about a family member? Would anyone be comfortable enough? I would hope they would at least allow that much. Its such a hard thing to go through as it is, its too bad issues like these have to come up.

Do they owe us anything?
by sleepy inhow do you feel?
does the society owe us for misleading us or do we just blame ourselves?.
imagine we were sold a pension plan that guaranteed us a certain return.

Although I dont think its fair that people have had to suffer because of the Org. I honestly dont expect them to repay anyone for losses. I would love to see it, but how could they?
A formal apology? Yea, right. Im not holding my breath.
We are fortionate that we have the ability to expose them for what they are. By telling others our experiences, Im sure we are putting at least a small dent in the number people they brainwash. -

For most of the people I know, they never agreed to be a part of anything. They were born into it.
Do they owe us anything?
I think they owe many.
Unfortionatly, some of the most important losses they could never repay.
To some, who have lost a loved one for refusing medical treatment.
To some, Who have lost their own life for similar reasons or for commiting suicide.
Not to mention the importance of being shunned by your family, this could also be compaired to a death since they are treating you as if you have already died. I could go on, but I would be here forever.
I would love to hold them responsible for all the hurt they have caused.

VERY interesting (April 1, 2002 WT, p.19)
by stevieb1 inthis statement is prety interesting.
it's taken from the very latest watchtower article (april 1, 2002) the final sentence of paragraph 14 reads:.
"if jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the bible would never be given to jehovah's witnesses and those to whom they preach.".

How are they going to get out of this one?
I was always told that reading the bible with no J.W. study guides was not permited and that we wouldnt be able to fully understand it. Yea right. Anyway, isnt that the same thing? -

I suppose it would be kind of cruel to the family.
On the other hand,
I could do them all a favor and include their names too!
