i feel at the moment to keep posting on this site is doing me no good.
i used to post here many years ago and came across many things jw related that made me feel angry towards the way i was brought up.
in particular the 607 issue and the generation change.
There's a saying, I think it goes something like, 'Remaining bitter is like swallowing poison, and expecting the other person to die.' Simply meaning that holding on to anger only hurts you far more than it hurts anyone else. It sounds like you're ready to move on and be successful in life and that certainly cannot be done while hanging on to anger, bitterness, or hatred.

you don't need to exaggerate the foibles of jws to get the point across that they are not "the truth".
can you state some facts that show that jehovah's witnesses are not "normal' and that their religion is weird and simply abnormal?.
JW's cannot explain adequately why birthdays are not celibrated by members.
Even my 9 year old saw through this 'explanation' and knew that there was nothing in the bible condemming birthday celebrations.
1. Fact that until recently there were 5 meetings on 3 days of the week and if that weren't enough there are also assemblies and 3 day long conventions. Then, whenever you are not at the meeting or at work, you probably should be hard at work in the ministry. And don't forget the time involved preparing self and children for all these obligations. Every day involves some sort of witness activity. And you also need to have read all of the publications in order to get full on spiritual food.
2. You cannot accept or read any other religious pamphlets, yet you should convince others to accept and read yours.
3. How many hours you spend in field service is a measure of being spiritual strong/weak.
i can right now only think of one thing---bullsh*t.

I think about this everyday, how confused I would feel trying to stay in this org, but not feeling right about so many things. Sites like these let me know that I wasn't the only one.

while he says he has not seen a letter ,he tells me that at the last visit the co told his body of elders pretty much what is being said here on jwd.. he gave some examples: .
1- if a young ms/pioneer, attends college and lives at home, would he and his elder dad be deleted?
the young man is "spiritually focused".. 2- an elder's daughter attends college in the hopes of having a good job in the future and dad promotes this course of action.
Why would they bother trying to make it esy to retain elders in one move, only to make up an excuse to get rid of them in another? Doesn't make sense.
Mind you, does anything they do make sense?
Actually, I believe this is the solution. Keep em out of college in order to replenish the lack of brothers available for this or that. Nothing like having a 20-year old spiritually mature elder.
even though, i was raised in a witness home, i never remember hearing that girl scout cookies were a no-no.
and even though i've only been baptized for a few years, i don't remember any specific admonishment of these sweet treats.
but recently at work a jdub coworker made it a point to remind me that jw's do not buy or eat girl scout cookies.
So I went without for no reason, huh? I'm going to have to make up for this next year, may even throw some samoas in the mix.....
Amazing, as if the WTS doesn't have enough rules and restrictions, nothing like the 'friends' to add a few more.....

No. It was the one thing I was against even before I was baptized.
The logic behind it makes no sense. Let's say a person is struggling with a problem, maybe an addiction to drugs, gambling, etc. The way you get that person to change is to treat him like he's dead? Yeah, that'll work...
The reason they want people to shun a DF'd or DA'd person is because they are afraid members of the religion will find out some of these people found fault with the doctrines of the religion. So, they preach that it is for a protection that you shun somebody who is DF'd or DA'd. Actually, it is a protection for them. They want people to think the DF'd or DA'd person is out because of 'immorality' not because something is wrong with the religion.
Yup, this is exactly why shunning is so strictly enforced. Not because they (GB) give a hoot about repenting, but to keep the members in line and ignorant of this kind of information. I cringe to the bone when they convince people that this is the 'strong discipline' that Jehovah wants.

Anybody ever heard of this?

a friend just informed me that the c/o in his hall will be instructing the elders that anyone with a child in college will be stripped of privileges in the hall.
i am not sure if this is true this is just what i was told.
it could be that it is only a campaign directed at him as he has some ties to ex-jw's and some how got found out.
I typed out a long response only to have it disappear. Oh well, my main point was that advanced education promotes critical thinking, and we can't have any of that at the KH. "Obedience" and "yeilding" are crammed down your throat until it chokes out any vestige of independent thought. Also the society is constantly pointing out that spiritual things are revealed to "babes", so don't get a higher education or you'll lose your ability to understand basic scriptural ideas.
I, for one, am a super geek and I love reading and learning new things . If only I could make a living going to school, I would've never left campus!
