Fairly reliable
I use "Holman Christian Standard"
There are many others too
Can use just about any translation
as long as you know where the land mines are

the new world translation (nwt) is published by the watchtower bible and tract society.
this is the organization that jehovahs witnesses belong to.

So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Freedom!
by easyreader1970 inlast night i was sitting in the service meeting listening to a brother read the announcements.
one main part of the announcements was to read part of the km that had to do with the upcoming two day circuit assembly (ours is next month ... even though we just had the district convention last month ... geez).
the km article talked about how the circuit assembly would warn us against satan's new tools--the internet, education, and entertainment.

Totally agree
It takes effort and study
to free oneself from
the mind control
I was out for 28 years
and just recently learned
that I still had residual
blocks
I still wonder what may be lurking -

What teaching did you find unacceptable that made you question the WTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe selection of the society in 1919 as the faithful and discreet slave after jesus spent nearly 5 years observing them.
jesus must have had some good lsd.

For me
an attitude thing
I made mistake
willingly paid price
Continued to get hounded
Continued to get hauled before JC
Continued to get harassed by
couple of elders
So I left
Found out later
presiding elder had a case of as*
for my father that had been on JC
that had DF his niece
Great
Real loving attitude
Later in life learned all the
other crap
Clincher has been that
they are a dangerous mind control CULT!! -

That's good Stilla
A glimmer of thinking
Now that gas prices are dropping in the U.S.
will they re-instate the home book study??
It's a lame excuse to begin with. Maybe start
a rumor? -

by dobbie infollowing on again from my posts re elder not leaving wheni asked etc i am sending a letter to the elders about it and saying not tocall.
could you cast your peepers over it please and let me know what you think?of course they may d'f hubby if i get him to sign it also but its what hes waiting for so than won't matter!.
this week (elders name) called on our house whilst 'working' our street, despite our having a sign stating 'no religious callers' that he has seen before.. i asked him politely to put his bible away in view of this, he rufused as i am "not the head of the house".

My opinion
Don't make it too detailed
or put in too much information
Keep it VERY simple
No need for any more confrontation
than is absolutely necessary
Their eyes will glaze over and
it will sound like an adult in a
Charlie Brown cartoon
(wha,wha,wha,wha,wha)
A formal request for no calls to
be made should be honored
If not............... -

Why don't JW's have their own school for young people?
by QuestioningEverything inthis is something that i have been asked several times and have wondered myself.
it would alleviate all of the uncomfortable situations involved with flag saluting, birthday parties, etc...

Cheapskates
It's not real estate
It doesn't sell books/magazines
It isn't measurable
It isn't good business
They would have to follow government rules
Or
It just never crossed their narrow, selfish,
cultish, controlling minds -

What does The Watchtower really give to its followers?
by VM44 ini think this question deserves a thread of its own;.
what really does the watchtower provide to its followers?.
they take (and really demand) people's time, energy, and resources.

I feel exonerated
by John Doe infor a while i feel i was implicated by a scatological quagmire of ruffians who wanted nothing more than to cast doubt on the magnanimous glory that is me.
now i feel justified in gaining ascendancy over their impotent crescendo of inane and asinine banter, and thank god that my glory survives unscathed.
as such, i will continue to bless this board with my insights at no charge, other than to exact your praise and worship.
