Off to tell the family...
by Gypsy Sam inthe day i've been waiting for is here.
i'm flying home to see family and some old friends, most of whom are jw.
since learning ttatt a few months back, i came to the decision i would have to tell my parents that we are no longer active and don't have any plans to return.

Can this logic be refuted?
by notsurewheretogo ini was an elder until march 2012 until i resigned.
i then stopped going to meetings in october 2012 and have enjoyed 9 months of freedom that i have found to be jouful!
i loved learning ttatt and sites like this and jwfacts.com have been excellent.. i told the elders that i needed a break and that they should not contact me unless it was a social visit and true to their word they have done that.

If you want to maintain a positive relationship with even one, believing JW, you must keep all doubts and criticisms to yourself. The game is rigged. These people, because of the Thought Reform you've read about, are not permitted to consider things except how Mother tells them. All of those wonderful people that you know will choose 'Jehovah' over you, every time.
Go back in time to when you first began to examine 'apostate' literature and websites. Do you recall the programmed responses you had? Do you remember the physiological effects? Sweaty palms, heart rate increase, nausea, etc? If you begin to express doubts, these people will experience those exact same things. Further, they will blame it on the fact that you have been overtaken by 'demons'.
I wish I was joking. You cannot even make this stuff up.

Please read 'Crisis of Conscience' by Ray Franz. It explains in detail how interested the elders are in facts and logic. Bottom line: they will disfellowship you.

Anyone else an Ex Bethel "volunteer"
by BackseatDevil ini was wondering if there were any other ex-bethelites on here.
i personally regularly went for temporary work at brooklyn then was assigned to the farm for a year and a half.
it was... one of the most bizaare experiences of my life.. so i wrote it all down (finally, after some 15 years) so i won't bore anyone on here with the details of the story - because bethel doesn't show up until chapter 15... and for you straight folks, it gets a bit gay in two places... but nothing gross.

"It is a business, a very successful business, run off slave labor. And the mentality there is one of tunnel vision rote and human mechanics and it's really sad."
Yes, that is what I observed in my time there.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY believe that their worldly friends, relatives and small children will be slain in the street by god?
by jambon1 ini mean, it's so utterly ****ed up, it's unbelievable.. just think about the nitty gritty of it:.
people that they love & care for who don't share their religion deserve to be killed, left without a grave & eaten by wild animals.
one day, this will happen & they'll be surrounded by billion upon billion of decaying, rotting corpses.

The story of Noah's flood gives some indication as to how Jehovah deals with those who refuse to get on his boat.
I really did believe that all non-JWs would be slaughtered at Armageddon. This would have included tens of millions of Asian children.
Revelation 14:20, "They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses' bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia."
As a point of contrast, the fate of these non-believers in WT theology is much more kind than the fate offered by many Evangelical and Calvinist denominations: an eternity of pain and torment. Jehovah only wants to slit your throat. Jesus will roast you forever and ever, for all eternity.
To be fair, however, much of Christendom rejects this view of God. They teach that only those who *want* to go to Hell, will go to Hell.

Public Apology Nathan Natas
by Simon ini'd like to offer a public apology to nathan natas for making a wrong decision when i deleted him.. i allowed a combination of previous issues we'd had and input from other forum members to bias my decision which lead me to what i now, in hindsight, believe to have been a mistake.. whether you want to come back and post here or not i wanted to at least say sorry and will reactivate your account..

What was it about Bethel that woke you up?
by cognisonance inone the how many exbethelites thread it was mentioned that some think one either leaves down the path towards apostasy or as a 100% true believer.
i'm curious what experiences did you face at bethel that woke you up (or started to at least)?.

Before I went to Bethel, one of the elders on the local Service Committee told me the following:
"When you get to Bethel, you're going to meet people there that make you ask yourself, "How are these people even in The Truth, much less Bethel."
He was a former Bethelite.
He was right.

the only logical l reason why the end did'nt come
by nowwhat? inyou ca'nt deny the many bible truths we have learned so how can the wt society have been so wrong about the "end"?.
one can accept the reason why it did'nt come in 1975, "jehovahs wants people to worship him out of love and not for a date".
but it should have come by the late 1980's .

the many bible truths we have learned
Please elaborate on one of these truths.
My own experience has been that it was all a pack of lies.

Welcome.

What a rude thing to say. You used your very first post on this forum to insult others.
