TO CLARIFY A COUPLE OF THINGS ABOUT MY PROJECT.....
by Mary infirst of all, i want to thank everyone for all the words of encouragment and compliments i've received regarding the project i put together.
not only will it (hopefully) help some family members to see that something's not right regarding many of the wt's doctrines, but it was therapeutic for me to do as well.
like many other ex-witnesses, i was emotionally devastated and extremely angry when i discovered that this religion was not "the truth" as was drilled into our brains from day one.

Mary,
I must concur with the others about putting it on the internet on a website. Even if all the information you have in it can be located on various other websites, the way you have it arranged and all nicely put together in one package could help so many others that don't have the time or know-how to track it all down scattered across the internet.
And think about this, already you have over 200 requests for it from just us that know about it on here that can send you a PM. What about all the newbie lurkers on this site that can't register now. It would do them the most good and yet they can't let you know they want it. On a website they could download at their leisure and it would save you the time of having to e-mail it out to everyone. Just my opinion.
Randy just said he would host it for you so that much is already solved. I can see where this can help so many that have doubts or questions. I sure would've liked to had something similar to it about 25 years ago.
And once again thanks for all your work in putting it together.
regards,

My marriage is falling apart!
by sacolton inover breakfast, my wife and i discussed the feeling of distance between us.
i haven't kept her for going to meetings or anything of the sort.
yet, since i've left the organization - she has been more distant from me.

Sacolton,
Sorry to hear you're going thru some trying times in your marriage. Sounds like to me you're being given "the treatment". What I mean by that is they're going to go out of their way now to make it look like you're the one that is making it hard on her since you can no longer join her with her friends and associates from the KH. Don't you just miss all that good wholesome association? (hope you can feel that sarcasm in my writing)
Have you or your wife got any relatives or friends outside of the Org that you both like and could have fellowship with so as to lessen the feeling of her missing out on something? Try and put some distance between her and the congregation for now if you can. Go on a vacation to the mountains or the beach. If finances are tight take many walks with her in local parks,go to movies etc. just to keep her mind off of them for a while. It can be especially hard on a woman in the organization to go to the hall by herself when she see's other couples there holding hands, serving side by side, shoulder to shoulder.
Was your wife a born-in raised in JW or a convert? -

Would like to compliment and commend both candidates on being a class act
by StoneWall ini generally don't have much to say on the polical field.. as i mentioned on a previous thread i thought either candidate would be a much better choice than what we've been thru the last eight years here in u.s.a.. with that said i must say i really appreciated how fast mccain got to the concession speech and didn't wait till hours on end hoping for a recount or a error on ballot counting etc.
he showed total class in my opinion and handled the speech admiringly.. .
now to obama.

Now to Obama. As I watched his acceptance speech tonight I saw not a man that was gloating with victory and arrogance but rather a man who walked to the stage with dignity, calmness, composure. I liked how in his speech he included the words "yes we can" in many places. Not putting too much emphasis on himself by saying I can or I will but that yes we can.
What i saw tonight by both of the candidates made me think all of us on this board as well as people throughout the world could learn much of how to treat others from both of these men. Even if we do not agree with something someone says or believes, it still doesn't mean we can't show respect and deep concern for their feelings.
How about any of you? Anything you would like to add about what you saw or heard from either or both candidates tonight?

So why ARE women allowed to speak at congregation meetings?
by easyreader1970 inthe apostle paul said that women should be silent in congregation meetings and not flap their traps.
if they need to talk about something, they can talk about it with their husband when they get home.
so why does the wbts pick and choose which verses they apply and which they do not?

THe women were allowed to speak at your congregation?
You musta been in one of those liberal KH.
At our hall we kept our women in subjection. We told them in no uncertain terms like Paul did that women were made to be seen and not heard. -

What IS the goal of Watchtower Society anyway?
by SnakesInTheTower inbeing a 2nd gen jw raised from age 4 or 5 until i walked away around 40 or so, i always thought the goal of being a jw was twofold:.
1) glorify god by preaching the good news (and to save people's lives) .
2) warn those who wont listen (so the worldly people cant say they werent warned).

The post are all intriguing but I think Sir82 hit the nail on the head with his post.
Just think about it! How many other 80 and 90 year old men can go around the globe and have people just basically walk over each other just to shake their hand. And then the honor and reverence that is afforded them and people hanging on every word that is spoken. Heck most other older men that age can't can't get the time of day from a lot of people much less any respect.
(or as Rodney Dangerfield used to say it," I get no Respect") -

When I saw this I had a weird, eerie feeling come over me
by StoneWall inthis morning while moving some papers off my desk a paper fell to the floor and i immediately recognised it as being the leaflet that the obama campaign workers had left with me when they had called on my door.
both of the gentlemen had been very nice and we had what i would consider a nice conversation.. .
getting back to the leaflet, it was titled voting questions & answers and as it lay on the floor of my office at home my eyes caught site of this question.

Getting back to the leaflet, it was titled Voting Questions & Answers and as it lay on the floor of my office at home my eyes caught site of this question. HOW DO I MAKE SURE TO VOTE FOR OBAMA-BIDEN?
It was in bold and all capitalized as in my example here.
I don't know if it was the early morning hours or just a lack of proper rest but when I glanced at it, it looked like it said OSAMA-BIN LADEN.
I had to do a double take and then a triple take. I really wish they hadn't put it like that on that leaflet. Even if they put a slash / I think woulda been better than a dash seperating the names.
oh well maybe I should drink some coffee or something to open my eyes wider.
Just thought I'd share how my morning is starting off. Wowser

Three escaped prisoners are lost in the desert
by StoneWall inthree escaped prisoners are lost in the blazing hot desert.. one of them is english, another one is german and finally the last one is polish.. after a couple of days wandering aimlessly and almost giving up all hope of being found,.
up walks a tall man with olive complexion dressed in bright white linen.. looking over the three prisoners he says in a highly resonating voice,.
"my master will allow you one item or thing that you ask for before i show you the path you are to take out of this place.".
