i don't care about what you have to say
by drew sagan inthis little rant is pointed towards a particular somebody who has found it necessary to blanket all of the jwd users here with generic solicitations for their website and newsletter.
usually i let this kind of stuff go but this particular individual imo is quite crass in their style and delivery in supposedly 'exposing' the watchtower.
as such i want to state on the record that i don't care about what you have to say, your methods are stupid.

7 If YOU men had known me, YOU would have known my Father also; from this moment on YOU know him and have seen him.”
"from this moment on YOU know him (the Father) "
This is rather intriguing. Why wouldn't he say you have known of the father? Or why would he not say you have known my father partially from the words of the prophets, or the scrolls? Why would he not acknowledge that people had known his father from previous teachings...why would Jesus not acknowledge that the Father could be somewhat known from these things in the past? Why does he say it is only "from this moment on" that you know "the Father"? To me it seems that he does not validate "yahweh". He never mentions "the father" by any name, only using "abba" once that I know of. Is he saying something between the lines..by not saying?

August 1st Awake 2008 article on Katrina Victims and Help by JWs
by restrangled ini was not impressed.
on the 3rd anniversary of katrina, and now the same area possibly threatened by gustov i find the following quote in the article infuriating.
.....sorry if someone has posted about this before.. "the volunteers repaired more than 5,600 homes of fellow believers and 90 kingdom halls, the meeting places of jehovah's witnesses.

Christians to "work what is good toward all", Jehovahs' Witnesses assisted a number of nonbelievers as well."
This is very condescending language.
How benevolent. What good samaratians they are to stoop to help someone "not of their kind". I suppose whatever they did, it was a contrived token gesture destined for show. They were no doubt looking for an opportunity to make milegae on. The above comment is snotty and I find it very offensive.

what happens after Armageddon?
by cameo-d indidn't jesus say survivors would be "changed in the twinkling of an eye" ?.
didn't jesus say the dead would be resurrected first, before this change occurs?.
didn't jesus say he was going to prepare a place and we would be "taken" there to be with him?.

Mary, that was an interesting post. I know I am going a little off topic here, but the scripture you quoted from Luke sounds more like a scene from Dante's Inferno and it just seems out of place as a Jesus story.
I just went back and read Luke 16 and the beginning of that chapter doesn't seem like what you would expect from a "Christian teaching". This guy is about to get fired, so while the boss is still out, he falsifies the paperwork cancelling debts to get in good with the bossman's debtors. He's looking out for himself so in case he's down and out in the future they will owe him a favor. Then the boss comes in and finds out and praises the crook for being so clever. And then this verse where it seems that Jesus advocates premeditated ulterior motives. (and justifies it by alluding that the person you are stealing it from was using it in "wrong ways" anyway?)
9 "I tell you, make friends for yourselves by using the riches of the world that are so often used in wrong ways. So when riches are a thing of the past, friends may receive you into a home that will be forever.
Yeah, I know it's bending the topic...but can you explain this? Am I reading it right?

cameo, it is good to remember that an ex-jw reporting what the WTS teaches is not evidence of agreement. It seems that leaving the WTS indicates they have left most of the WTS teachings.
I understand that.
My thought here is that it might be important to recognize how others who are in are being subliminally manipulated. After all, a lot of people are going to have to deal with the end result of this at some time in the future if they have JW family or friends.
Maybe I am trying to pick apart some of the techniques they are using and it seems obvious to me that, according to the above quote from Watchtower article, that semantics play a big part in their methodology.

Dosen't the idea of New Jeresulam and rebuilding this planet to paradise earth conflict with that?
How can it be both?
What do you expect to happen after armageddon?

Interesting calculation for the start of the GT and Christ's return
by Philippus79 inhi friends!
i found this quite interesting blog which gives evidence that the gt is about to start in autumn 2008 and jesus would return in 2012. at least for those who are still interested in bible chronology and prophecy it might be worth a read.
these guys seem to have no connection to ron weinland or the cog people, looks more like jws/exjws.

Watchtower Languages
by cameo-d ina few years back, a jw friend told me that the watchtower houses the largest language library in the world because they have the magazines translated into every known language.
do any of you know if that is true?
everytime i see the babble fish for translation on a website, i wonder if her story was true and if perhaps watchtower has contributed to the internet powers or some of the groups that have provided these translations and if more language translations would be available in the future as more countries are opening to internet services.

Today, the average printing per issue is 28,578,000 copies, in 161 languages.Awake!, the companion magazine to TheWatchtower, has an average printing of 34,267,000 copies, in81 languages.
What year was that Blondie? Thanks Joker 10 says 450, so I am wondering the time frame difference.
Watch Tower publishes material in 450 languages now.
Another question...
Do the witnesses still believe that there will only be one language spoken in the new sysytem? One universal language?
What other institution would have such a collection of languages?
Do you think watchtower has shared their language information with other repositories?

WT Wizard,
I am very concerned about you. Your posts have become more bitter and angry in the past few weeks than they have been before. You may not realize it, but these churning emotions in you are going to end up making you very sick. I mean physically ill. Maybe emotionally ill, too. I think you need help outside of this board. I hope you will seek counseling because you really need someone to talk to that can help you put things into perspective and come to a resolution. You will never be able to find any joy or happiness if you keep holding on to these emotions.
My two cents worth is that you are blaming god, when clearly these are man's doings. God didn't do anything. (That's the problem) All these things were done to you by man. You were a trusting soul at one time and they corrupted that.
Life is a learning process. You need to get beyond this pain and find a way to overcome it. Sometimes we cannot do it alone. Sometimes it takes a professional counselor because friends don't always have an answer. Please think about it.

I wonder if deliberate anachronism is used as a subtle thought reform technique?
