I once made a comment to a wordly person about all the people I knew who had depresion and were taking anti-depressants. The person was shocked that I personally knew so many, because they didn't know anyone with serious clinical depression. It made me start to think, Ya, we are an unhappy bunch. I am much happier since I left.

UK investigation report into JW procedures
by dozy init is an open secret amongst elders in the uk that the charities commission has been investigating jw procedures with regard to child protection , particularly following the porter case (an elder who abused children in millhill , the host congregation for the london bethel.).
copies of the report are available below.
it appears that the wts may have to produce crb (criminal records bureau) checks for all elders , something that many brothers have requested for some time , though the wts are dragging their feet (as usual) on this.. http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/library/investigations/pdfs/lonmill.pdf.

I hope this isn't off topic, but I noticed that Mr. Porter's offences occurred between 1986 and 2000.
And he was appointed as an elder in 2001?
Holy Spirit appointed a pedophile to serve the congregation?????

Who have you lost?
by alamb ini wonder if we each put up who we lost from our lives and how long ago if it would be a testament to those who might find this thread and think.
the absurdity.. my parents: 12 years.
my brother: 12 years (he is now married).

My brother, whom I adored as a baby - quit talking to any of us in the family about 8 years ago. He is an elder, giving talks at every assembly and far too spiritually above the rest of us to speak to us.
My sister, who was my best friend for years, also quit talking to me, but is talking again to my parents after a 9 year "Cold Shoulder" from her.
My nephew, loved him as my own children. Last I saw him, he screamed at me at the K-Hall that he was never forgiving me. He was 6.
I haven't lost my grama, tho. She still talks to me, tells me she loves me.

Regarding Elders Snooping On Facebook, MySpace & Other Sites
by minimus ini was reading the thread of how an elder parent was snooping on his daughter's facebook.. i believe that many jws, not just elders probably snoop around to see what some witnesses are doing, whether they be inactive, disassociated or active.. do you think jws "snoop" on the internet or if they have access to your computer, do you think they'll try to uncover something about you?.

Its true. I know a sister who has a fake facebook account, and gets the young kids to accept her as a "friend", then she queals to their parents and the elders about what they all have on their facebook.
FYI - I don't know the name she goes by, but she told me she is a 24 year old man from Trinidad.

The Brain of a Jehovah's Witness
by minimus ini have to wonder what actually is in their heads,.
i called a former elder who i like and who lives close to my mother and asked him to do me a favor.
her phone was off the hook for the entire day and i got worried that maybe she fell or something.

When would an "I'm sorry" help?
by The Berean inhuman interaction today too often seems to feature either playing the role of "offender" or "offended.
"most parties involved in an altercation plead "not guilty" regardless of the evidence.. but are there times when a simple unconditional "i'm sorry" might prevent a harmless spark from becoming a raging inferno?.
i pesonally have offended people hundreds of times during my life and have been offended to the same extent.

I've heard it said that there are 3 parts to an apology:
1. I'm Sorry.
2. It won't happen again.
3. What can I do to make it up to you?

Congregation "Bible Study" Comments - Week Commencing 11 May 2009
by LUKEWARM in209-212 head coverings-when and why?
head coverings-when and why?.
paul mentions two: prayer and prophesying.

I know for a fact that recently it has come down from the WTBS that sisters who do sign language in the congregation or at assemblies must now wear a headcovering.
It used to be viewed as they were just " translating" what was being said, but I guess now with ASL, they are "interpreting".

I kept telling myself that my marriage was stable.
But when you're married to someone for over 20 years, work full time and he has never done a load of laundry, made a bed, cleaned a toilet, vaccumed a rug, cooked a meal, said thank you or I'm sorry for anything........
It suddenly dawns on you that maybe your marriage isn't so stable.
