When convalescing after knee op years ago, I wouldn't let kids answer door if witnesses came by, knew they didn't care about me they were just going to use visit to count time as they were all dressed up and obviously had been out annoying people.

by NVR2L8 induring the holiday period one if my wife's brothers had planned a vacation in our area.
they drove about 6 hours to a condo they leased for a week to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their married son and daughter.
they called my wife to let her know they were coming to visit us since they were 2 hours away.

Human kindness

my family has been going through a big crisis for several weeks now and i've noticed a few things.
several of the elders have expressed their concern for us, shared a scripture and then back out to field service or whatever.

There is nothing like tough times to show just who is and isn't your real friends, when my wife passed away several years ago, my daughter I and were the invisible family of two, no one came by after the funeral, no one sent a card, no one ever stopped by to see how we were doing, It was an eye opener for my daugther and thank goodness she seen the light of false love from the congregation. I have never nor will I ever step foot in a Kingdom Hall again, we were there to help others when adversity hit, but like I say when adversity hit us we must have been invisible. Now they are invisible to me, not to say that If I seen somone on the road from that congreagation needing help with a flat tire or some such that I wouldn't lend a hand, I am not like them and thankfully my daughter will never be one of them. Yeah the conditional aspect of witnesses come out pretty fast you realize that it was all a scam and a great pile of horse manure. My eyes had been opened for over 10 years prior to this happening and I just attended to keep my wife company, when she was on the way down she realized just how much horse pucky it really was and that depressed her to no end. Something I had been telling her all along. well this rant is over.

What I Miss
by FreeGirl2006 intoday i had to drive by several homes of dubs i knew most of my life and it kicked off a longing i have for my siblings and the faux-friends i grew up with.
not necessarily the people in and of themselves, but people who knew me way back when.
being raised in the borg the only "friends" i had were indoctrinated.

For myself I had realized years ago these were only conditional friends, that when it counted they wouldn't be there for me now I just don't care about any of them and have absolutely no desire to even converse with them. When my wife passed away, (I was only going to please her) that cut any and all contact with these make believe friends. Have no desire to even see some of them at all.

If the idiot body of witnesses want some in the R&F to volunteer to go to Israel, why don't they step up and lead the was into Palestine they then can show just how their mythical god will or will not protect them. Want others to take risks they aren't willing to take themselves. what a bunch of cowards, lead by example for a change.

by Terry inuntil the scientific method came along, your guess was as good as mine.. science differed from opinion by qualifying hypothesis with testing and something called falsifiability.. what was it?.
you have to find a way to state a scientific theory by making it disprovable!.
if you have the theory "all swans are white" it is testable and disprovable how?.

oh yeah, sister from the congregation, in fact I don't go to any anymore, mentioned my absence at the hall by asking don't you want to see your wife in the new system? Yep nothing but emotional black mail. My wife had died 5 months prior to her stupid question. So I told her attending a hall that has absolutely no real love that isn't conditional doesn't appeal to me nor will it let me see my wife again she is dead and never to be seen again.

I always made it a point to talk with disfellowshiopped ones, even helped a couple of them from one part of town to another. They were surprised that I did that, One in particular asked if I was worried about being disfellowshipped for talking with and helping him and his family. I told him I didn't give a damn what the elders or anyone else thought about it, You were my friend when a Jdub and now that you have been ejected you are still my friend. I don't let others pick out who I can and can't have a friendship with. His wife eventually left the dugs too, and they made sure to try and get rid of any residue of the bullshit that had gotten into his childrens mind. He started his own business as he had been working with/for a jdub elder prior to being ejected, so he started his business and became successful. Good for them.
I remember back when they started this nonsense saying shunning was actually an act of love, I even asked a visiting CO about it, asking how could acting like someone didn't exist be an act of love. I told him that was ridiculous and just an excuse to be hypocritical. It's a wonder I wasn't called to the back of the hall after that. No one ever said anything to me about it. Which is probably a good thing as i would have unloaded on them and probably gotten myself ejected.
After my wife's death several years ago and a complete lack of caring on the part of the local congregation that started my fade and I have never been back to a hall and never will again. The witnesses are acidic they are so blinded by bullshit they cant smell it evidently.

My neighbor is a return visit. Should I say something?

So my advice is ask the neighbor questions, lead them to information they will need (i.e. jwfacts.com) to really get informed about just what the witness really were about and what would be expected of her in the event she became one. Let her/them know it isn't jdubs knocking on the door that indicates whether or not they will receive everlastig life, nor is taking their magazines. Tell her it isn't them who separate the good people from the bad people and refer her to Matthew 13:49 and show her it's angels not people that do that.
