Dgm's name reminds me of a Verizon commercial where a guy pronounces paradigm as "para-dig-um". But seriously, welcome. Post Dgm, post like the wind!

The Bible is a Deck of Cards
by IslandWoman inthere are a variety of playing cards and a variety of games to play with them.. the bible's canon was selected with as much care and selfish intent as the makers of playing cards have when choosing their particular design or theme.. the "hebrew" canon was decided by a nation comdemned by jesus.
they picked the design.. the "christian greek" canon was decided by men who had left the teachings of the christ.
they also picked the design.. the whole thing is a sad joke.

Governing Body, starting to doubt themselves?
by taoInitiate ini was thinking.... anyone who receives a large amount of criticism starts to doubt themself eventually.. so, unless the governing body is receiving power from another source (eg.
heaven, and most of us here would doubt that), then i would think that they have to start to doubt themselves.. for example, the wizard of oz, i'm behind this curtain here, pretending to be powerful, but i'm really just a frail old man, who has no special power.
my influence is a sham.

Well lets face it though, you give away your power when you listen to someone and let them tell you what to do..

Don't become emotionaly attached to JW.com
by sleepy indon't become emotionaly attached to jw.com.
it seems that many of our friends here have become too emotionaly involved with this discussion board.. it has eaten into their personal lives, and caused upset and anger.. it is a shame as a times there can be great encouragement and words of wisdom here.other times nonsense and triva.. it can be addictive, and i sometimes find myself wandering here too often.. but i think its good to keep yourself detached from the people here unless you know them more personnaly.. internet conversations are different from face to face chats, and people say things they wouldn't normally say in front of someone, or say things due to lack of understanding , of other peoples needs.. we would't want to put people off from coming here by petty bickering and such.. i believe that restraint is sometimes called for and a little patience on our part when we feel hurt by peoples cutting remarks, imagined or other wise.

I still don't know what you guys are talking about, that is the specific threads I guess. Evidently I am just not opening any of the extremely inflammatory threads, or don't read all of it..

Just one more thing. When I originally injured my hip I went to a Chiropractor. Although the head doc there was good, the guy that examined me was new. He took no x-rays and never had me do any kind of exercises to rehab the joint. Despite going in up to 3 times a week the damage was there for a long time, I just didn't realize it was there because the pressure was relieved from the adjustments. Looking back I think it would have been appropriate to do that or even work with a physical therapist. However, it doesn't mean Chiropractic is useless, but just that it has it's place. Now I come up with a treatment plan myself, employing the services of different doctors and health care professionals. Some of it is common sense if you think about it, I didn't think too much at the time and just relied on the doc to "make" me better. It's best to be active in your treatment and health maintenance.

What - if any - Religon are you now practicing?
by lydia ini know this seems like a dumb subject.. but i often wonder if many of us still believe and feel the need to worship - and not the borg either .
so here is a poll.... what religious orginization - if any - are you affiliated ( this does not mean you had to join it)?.
or - do you feel that everything is wrong due to the borg..and will you ever consider going to an organized religon again??.

As I told the guys here at work, just think the "God" of the Jews, christians, Musliums, Hindus and buddist, etc. watched as over 500,000
You know it's funny, I think it's been mentioned several times here, maybe just by JanH and myself but Buddhism has nothing to say about God, so how is it you include Buddhism in that statement? Granted some Mahayana Buddhists lean in that direction, but it is frankly against what the Buddha stated as his main teaching. When asked if he was God/a god he said no, and simply claimed that he was awake. What he talked about was suffering and how to end suffering.Mulan said:
I have to agree with all of that. If I were to be in another group, I would lean towards Buddhism, but it "ain't gonna happen". I shudder at the thought of having to go anywhere to worship. Ugh!!
Well first of all, considering the previous point above there is atleast not an object to worship, but again I have to say that even the connotation of the word is not what Buddhism is about. Secondly, you really don't have to go anywhere. (besides, you go to a yoga class don't you? It's like going to a meditation class) Practice for householders is very different from the monastics, so in a way it's pretty easy. Now I don't want to hijack this thread, but suffice it to say that if we only look at the external appearances and oversimplify and generalize you'll end up with a distorted view. If anyone really wants to discuss this we can start another thread, I suspect we have atleast a few members on this board who are knowledgeable about this. -

Sorry to hear that Rem. You know, it's interesting to note that there is a relationship stage theory out there that basically says after a while the two people drift apart, but in the end you can have a better sense of who you are as an individual and be interdependent but not codependent. I wish I remember a reference but it was a brief mention in psych class that wasn't even material we were tested on. Maybe a board member who's a mental health professional will know. In any case, I thought as an intellectual you'd be interested and I figure it could be encouraging in a way.

I believe D. is talking about the book "Eat Right 4 Your Type" by Peter D'Adamo. It looks like a good general plan, the only thing I would say is that even the author has conceded that there is further individualization for you personally, and of course that would take some careful observation on your part as far as which foods work well for you. Sometimes we just have to pay attention. (by the way, a little trick I've thought up is to eat by holding the fork in your left hand, or your right if you're left handed - for a more advanced version try something like chopsticks )
