  Why were you baptized?

  inspired by another thread.. i was baptized at 12 years old.

  i had a cousin, two years older than me, who was prettier, more outgoing and more popular in the hall than i was.

  i couldn't beat her at any of that stuff, but i figured i could be a better jw than she was.

  Inspired by another thread.

  I was baptized at 12 years old. I had a cousin, two years older than me, who was prettier, more outgoing and more popular in the hall than I was. I couldn't beat her at any of that stuff, but I figured I could be a better JW than she was. One day in service, an older sister asked her if she was going through the baptismal questions. No, but I anounced loudly that I was. Not one to be beat, she immediately started the questions and we got baptized on the same day, though I was nervous enough to hang at the back of the line with the other girls, and she raced to the front of the line so she could get baptized first.

  You can see how valid it is for a 12 year old to make such a life-altering vow.

  i dare say satan's ways are as mysterious as god's.

  (i now have to wonder if letting a woman on or off the elevator first is part of satan's schemes).

  She Would Have Been Better Off A JW……

  well i have been wanting to tell this story for some time now.

  does anyone believe that a person is better becoming a jw?

  i ask this question because i have carried this around with me for some years now.

  well, here's my latest "thing"...i plan on speaking with my siblings & their mates in the near future.

  i have told them that i have questions regarding some doctrines, mainly stuff like birthdays, mother's day, father's day, etc.

  my hubby has some questions for them regarding their wacky blood doctrine (but i wont cover that in this thread).

  God wants us to use this freedom, not as an inducement for selfish cravings, but to train our perceptive powers to distinguish right from wrong.

  In other words, you're still expected to make the right choice. And there are consequences for not making it. Don't worry, the GB will let you know what that choice is.

  just wanted to say hello to all here.

  i really don't have much of a story to tell about myself.

  just find myself at a crossroads of sorts and wondering if i should stay or move on, although the greater part is telling me to move on.. long story short, i have been a baptised jw for 14 years.
