My wife would care and it would affect her greatly with all of her jw relatives. My relatives are not jws, so my side of the family would have no affect on me. But because of my darling wife I associate way more with her side of the family. So yes this would affect me.

I thought his song "1999" would have awakened in him how similar 1914 and the generation was wrong.

Family Worship
by XBEHERE inanyone else notice how the org is starting to equate family worship evening with an actual meeting.
i do realize that was probably always their intention but lately i have noticed them grouping it with "...ministry, attendance at meetings...family worship..".
they have the nerve to do that when one of the clearly stated reasons that they gave for disbanding the bookstudy was "increasing fuel costs" also spending an hour or more in some areas to travel to that hour long meeting essentially wasting time.

I remember before the Family Worship night, that the elders asked are you having a study with the family? It was a weeding method to see if one qualifies for being a servant. Now it is even more official from the mother that a study should be taking place.

Thanks for sharing your story. It is always a comfort to see how one survives an exit from the WTS.

Welcome to the forum. It was heart-wrenching reading your story. You sure went through hell. It would be best to move away from your parents. But under the present economic situation, you have no alternative. Keep searching and when a job does appear, you hopefully can get it.

So, Are YOU Better Off Than You Were A Few Years Ago In Your Life?
by minimus inis your life better off as a witness or exjw now than before?.
is your life better off in the last few years economically?.

Definitely better now. More time for my family and I. Changed jobs, though it had not to do with being or not being a jw, which was for the better.

Did you have to try another church or religion on your way to unbelief?
by donny inback in 1992 when i was slowly extricating my way out of the wacthtower, there was no internet, smart phones or any other type of quick data download available.
i had basically 3 choices to obtain viewpoints from ex-jw's.. #1 - go to go to the library and look for books critical of the society.
#2 - go to a christian book store to look for the same.. #3 - order item like these from addresses or phone numbers listed in the back of these publications.. and while doing any of these things, you were always looking over your shoulder to see if any "brothers" were around.. the problem i experienced is that virtually all of these books, while giving you good reason to doubt the watchtower, always pointed to "christendom" as the way you needed to go.

Because I left Christendom for the WTS, I wan't going to go back to them. But the WTS did make me disbelieve in ALL religion. Now I believe like my dad, who never belonged to any religion but believed in the Bible on his own.

King David an example in morality?
by hoser infrom november study wt page 7 par 17. .
"consider too how davids example of earnestly seeking god's guidance can help us to resist the temptation to view pornographic images".
"meditating on his elevated standards equips us to keep free from the snare of pornography".

The cope out that jws give about David is that Jehovah read his heart and knew he was repentant. But that is not the case today, though Jehovah and Jesus is said to be guiding the elders. I think this is all bull. King David was not a fine example of upholding morality. He was king and nobody was going to enforce Jehovah's law on him.

Rumor Elders Will Receive Name Badges For Every Meeting.
by HelpMeBelieve ini keep hearing rumors elders are going to be getting permanent badge cards to wear to every meeting.
one excited brother told me, "it would be nice if new ones to the kingdom hall could see who their shepherds are.
there is a great surge in activity, new bible students will be able to locate the proper elder in charge of bible studies!

It is amazing how many in the congregation have no idea who the elders are. Badges may help all to recognize them.
