A comment made at the KH on paragraph 9 referring to the death of Stephen and James was that Jehovah always provides a way out. Hence Jehovah allowed the deaths of these two servants because that was a way out from further suffering. That was so comforting.

On paragraph 18, two elders stated that if an angel appears to you or speak to you today, then it is not from Jehovah but from Satan. So only Satan's angels can directly communicate with people today, not Jehovah's angels.

Get the right twist on anything and it will become right.

Thank you for the time you spent in referencing the Watchtower study article. After reading your posting, I found paragraph 9 especially interesting in the statement, "The circumstances and issues were different. Similarly, some of our brothers in Nazi concentration camps were executed, whereas Jehovah saw to it that most of them survived."

What circumstances and issues were different? The Bible examples the WTS provides were angels helping or not helping individuals not groups. Therefore the WTS must have received special knowledge to know that angels are now looking after the group of jws and not necessarily individuals.

Also glad your garden survived the hail storm. A friend told me yesterday that in the Watching the World article in the Awake magazine that it is healthier for you to raise a garden because of what is in the dirt benefits us.

The Watchtower Society's Corporate Strategy for the next 5-10 years

like any big business/corporation, the watchtower must make strategic decisions and plans for the future to survive and grow.

what is the wbts's 5-10 year corporate strategy?.

the current prime directive of the wbts is clearly expenditure/waste reduction through operational rationalisation.

What you stated seems like the logical direction that the WTBS will take in the next 5-10 years.

Just as an additional note to the easing of elders duties, I think that the reducing of the public talk to a 1/2 hour fits also into the scene.

The only significant doctrinal change would be the blood policy. I think the day will soon come where the WTBS cannot afford to be involved in blood litigations.

Reconnection

i rarely visit or post on this site anymore, but i had an experience today that made me decide to pop back in.

i've been an xjw long enough that the only time i think about my jw past is when one of my xjw friends (from this board or those i've met elsewhere) and i joke about shasta and fruit bags.. i've been playing on facebook and found some people who i used to know from the circuit assemblies and district conventions.

i would only contact them if i knew that they were xjws; either df'd before i left or were never "strong".

If he can't be honest with himself, certainly he is not looking after your best interests.

Good that you were not sucked into his witnessing trap.

UK Prime Minister: the 1914 generation "has left us"

today the last surviving british soldier who fought in world war i died at the age of 111. see http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32141785/ns/world_news-europe/.. prime minister gordon brown stated: "the noblest of all the generations has left us, but they will never be forgotten.

we say today with still greater force, we will remember them.".

when i bring up the "1914 generation" as an example of failed watchtower prophecy, some jws respond that the generation is not gone yet.

No wonder that it appears that the WTBS keep the subject about the generation low key. It seemed that they brought the subject up repeatedly to emphasize that the end was close, now it is seldom brought up.

Even the GB has more members who are 50s year of age. Makes one wonder when they will change the 1914 date to something more recent.

Something Big Is Happening To the WT Mag.

i looked over the aug. 1 public watchtower and noticed the same changes i observed previously.. plainly put, it appears that they have simply run out of things to say and so are just filling up printing space!.

they devote 4 full pages to a bible reading schedule that could have been easily condensed into a couple sentences.

they have the same large graphics and typeset that eats up printing area.

Combining the public Watchtower and Awake would be no great loss. This way they would be back to 2 magazines a month again (a Watchtower for the followers and an Awake for the public). This would result in a great cost savings for the Society.

Honestly, does the public actually read these magazines that they receive? Probably not.

a higher-up in bethel informed me that in an effort to show how the society attempts to keep true to the original bibical writings, all new study articles quoting the hebrew portion of the bible must be read from right to left.. rub a dub.

Job knew about Satan?

hello and wish me welcome :d. a question.... i know that job was unaware about the cause of his problems, he didn't know that satan was causing his problems.. but did he know about the existence of satan?

For Job to have had so much faith in Jehovah, Job certainly would have known something about God, His qualities, and His dealings with people.

Did Job know about the creation account of Adam and Eve? If so, then he would have known about the existence of Satan.

Marrying a non-jw is definitely frowned upon. JW brothers and sisters who have privileges such as being a regular pioneer, will most likely lose those congregation privileges if they marry a non-believer. I have known three sisters who married unbelievers and were not ostracized by the congregation. They were not pioneers either. An elder even tried to study with one of the unbelieving husbands.
