i hope the letter also provides an opportunity to vent against the injustice of the WTBS. I cannot help but notice the similarity between the Jerry Sandusky pedophilia trial; how PSU covered it up to maintain theri reputation, and how the WTBTS coverup the many scandals that envelop its rotting corpse of self righteousness. The issues such as pedophilia, the constant change of doctrine, the Malawi/Mexico scandal, blood and fractions, etc. Any newspaper that would write an article setting these people up as fine folks is no less than an accessory to their crimes/sins. I might include that in my lettet T.

Doesn't that confirm what we all experienced- that JWs from the top down are cheap and self-centered. On income of Millions they gave out $21,000 in relief/ assistance fund. Most of that probably went to JWs and never to help earthquake/tsunami/ natural disasters. How loving!

Funeral etiquette - Is crying allowed or seen as a lack of faith?
by usualusername ini have been to a few funerals and recalled that at many the cloest family members did not cry.. .
ok cultures and a number of factors may explain that, but could crying mean you don't believe in the resurrection?.
is it social compliance?.

It has been a while since I atttended JW fumerals on a regular basis, but I always sensed a party atmosphere; lots of smiles and laughter. My non-jw cousin died a few months ago and the only JW to attend was his daughter and granddaughter who showed very little emotion during a Christian service which concentrated on the life of the deceased and comforting the ones left behind. It is as almost the feeling is, "They're gone lets get on with our life." How sad.

Occasional feelings of sadness about the JW experience
by Mr Facts indo you feel occassionally sad when you flash back at your life as a jw, may be you occassionally become overshadowed by regrets and bitter feelings and not knowing exactly what caused it.. some regretted wasted life while others regretted being trapped in what they feel was a cult.
do you experience anything similar.
how do you usually surmon up courage to stand up and forge ahead?.

I was in for over twenty years and ended up with my life in shreds. No education-quit HS to pioneer in 1974; the end was near. Married at a young age and watched as that marraige crumbled due to immaturity. Left as a part=time father to that marriage's child. I finally walked away and began to rebuild/ build a life. When i look back and find sadness I remember the words of scripture. "Forgetting the things behind I pursue the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Jesus has taken my brokenness upon himself and given me a joyous, abundant life. I gave up on the WTBTS but never gave up on Jesus Christ.

Do you suppose that the reason we liked their SNF/disco period was that it was 1976-77 and we had not all died at Armegeddon? Anything was better than eternal death-even disco

Are Your Morals The Same As When You Were A Witness?
by minimus ineven if you consider yourself a moral person, would you say that you are as honest, faithful, or any different than you were as a jw?.

When I was a Jw I was very self -centered; everything was about me! Since escaping the cult I find myself with a servant's heart; seeking the good of others even at m expense. I no longer look around at nice houses just waitng for Armagedon so I can clean out the dead bodies and move in. While I drank quite a bit as a Jw i have found victory over alcohol and no longer drink at all. Knowing the JW lifestyle from twenty + years inside it makes me chuckle when they paint themsleves as such moral people and those in Christendom's churches as sinful hypocrites. In my current Christian faith I have found the most moral, loving people I have ever known.

my DF-ing letter - opinions
by raxxxx into the body of elders in xxxxx.. .
i no longer wish to recognised as one of the jehovah's witnesses due to the fact that i no longer believe that this 'organisation' is truly representing him because :.
i have experienced greater and unconditional love/friendship with the people i am supposed to hate 'worldly people' than i did in this congregation.

That makes me want to ask you- are you moving away from the place where you now live? If you are as much as a letter written to the BOe may give you great satisfaction would it not be better to just do a fade at your new location (never show up at the new KH), so that you do not break ties with your family? If you find yourself in a tough situation in the future it is always great to be able to rely on your family. If you DA you will lose that resource. As far as the letter to the BOE- it really feels good to write it out but it may be one of those letters you write and yet never send. Whatever you do let us know; we will be praying for your situation.
