sad thing is the 1 million viewers.
Just when you think stupid has reached the limit, 1 million people proves you wrong........
apparently, god is not a theater fan .
he prefers television
hollywood pat robertson on sunday said that hurricane katrina was gods way of expressing its anger at the academy of television arts and sciences for its selection of ellen degeneres to host this years emmy awards.

like that, they wouldn't need so many elders and ms. they would have plenty of brothers to read and pass the mic.. no where in the bible do they mention how big or small a congregation should be.
if ever one day they have a hard time forming enough ms and elders, wouldn't it be simpler to just make congregations larger?
Yeah, I'm sure "control" is a reason for smaller groups. Another factor could money. Congregations look to the Tower for money to build, and the Tower makes a lot of money on those loans.
there is such a diverse cross section of humanity here.... yet despite all the many differences...we are here...and co-habit...to a degree.... why?.
i'll start with what i see as "common traits"....
) disdain for the wts....
The green carpet and stackable chairs comments caused me to think about the feeling I have when seeing a Kingdom Hall--I should carry a barf bag in the car.
Like Rebel8, I consider Humanism a worthy way of exploring my spiritual and secular needs.
I can't prove that there is a God or gods, that's up to the believer to defend. However, I think it's important to treat others fairly and to do as little harm to our home as possible. It would be wonderful if religions had such goals! :(
for the last few days i've killed about six flies in my apartment.
not just regular flies, these are huge ass flies almost the size of bees!
i keep my trash can clean and the trash is picked up every other day.
This happened at our house about a month ago. They were clustered around two windows in the kitchen. I used the vacuum-cleaner hose to suck them up--most have been over 50 in two days. I never found how or why they got in to our single-family home.
I guess it's a sign, and proves the Watchtower is the true religion, and all other religions are following Satan! :)
read the bible daily?
honestly do you?
or is it collecting dust on a table or shelf somewhere?
Being an ex-cult member has lifted the religious blinders for me. The Bible, like most so-called holly books, is written by humans, and nothing more.
Like most JWs, I didn't read it that much except what was required to look up during meetings. Like most JWs, the Watchtower Society became the law of the land, and to think otherwise showed spiritual weakness. The Bible was only a tool to prove the Watchtower Society was the correct religion, and all others were following Satan. Indeed, the Bible can support any argument, foolish or wise.
I have no reason to read it today.
outnfree just sent me the book with that title.
it means "a bunch of outrageous breast-cancer survivors".
it's a book about women who tell their stories of courage, hope and healing.
Kelly ~ Thank you for the post, and I wish you the very best. For the past two years I've helped with fund raising for the American Cancer Society. Research is very important, and so is education. Thanks for sharing, and I know many are with you as you win this battle.
it was relayed to me by a friend that in order for jw's to get "help" from other jw's, that they needed to fill out a form (to make sure that they were jw's) and answer questions concerning how active they are and meeting attendance.
if the meeting attendance was low or if they were "inactive", then they weren't going to be taken in or helped.
in the situation that was relayed to me, a jw woman with a couple of teenaged girls was asking for help.
Churches in the United States, and I'm sure many other countries, do not pay taxes. However, many of them offer services to the community in various ways e.g., homeless shelters, feeding programs for the poor, etc. I saw a report a few days ago (I don't remember where now) that as a whole religious organizations give more to communities than the money lost by the tax breaks.
I think it's fair to say that's not true with the Watchtower or the local Kingdom Halls. They take from the community, and offer nothing in return.
this board often equates the mormons with the jws.
knowing from personal experiences both groups, there are striking differences.
this morning, i asked one of my mormon friends what are the mormons doing for the disaster area he said that they always contribute help during disasters.
Hello DanTheMan and others,
This thread makes me wonder how the Tower is helping with the disaster relief. Maybe they're sending old copies of "The Watchtower" that couldn't be unloaded on the JWs.
my wife and i just got home from the gym and there were 2 jw's at our door.
i couldn't help myself....i felt rage building up inside but i tried to play it cool.
just coming off the ne apostafest and hearing everyones story just pissed me off when i saw those two dubs standing there.
Way to go John !!! That's how to handle the Dubs out pushing the Tower's drugs.
Any time I see them working in the neighborhood I join them, too. They usually don't stay around long before heading to the local donut shop. :)
