it's not too soon to start mentioning that to jw's- let them know that 100 years is a long time and even g-d only made the israelites wander in the wilderness for 40 years, before he brought them to the promised land.

i remember when i first started questioning the wts/jws.
there were so many scandals and teachings and history to explore and research.
i needed to learn everything i could about every little inconsistency, every mistake, every scandal in order to convince myself that i was on the correct path to freedom from this false religion.

today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.
LITS-- the young elders' wife and her sister were probably writing to each other. That's what we used to do. You get bonus points for taking "notes" but really you were talking to the friend you had next to you. lol.
if scientology has narcanon, and it has gotten people off drugs (although that 85% sucess rate they say they have is suspect), and becoming a jw sorta forces you into line, would it make sense to leave someone in if they were helping them?
if you knew somebody was a drunk, sex addict, drug addict, what have you, and they were studying, and it appeared that they were actually being helped (albeit by twisted means) would you leave them be?
like, if uncle jim was a fall down drunk that ran around on his wife, then someone introduced him to the wts, and it all stopped, would you still try and expose the cult even if they were actually helping and it was working?.
Very valid point Amber Rose. I agree. It's so hard to sit back and watch friends & family toil for this "religion" though. Some days I just want to BLAST them with info to get them out, but I know they are likely to flat out reject it.
it happened to me this weekend.
i'm curently "active" and had some long time friends from a different congregation over for dinner.. we went through the formality of praying before the meal.
normally or rather lately i've been passing it off to someone else.
WTWizard this-- "Dear Satan, Prince of Darkness, please cause this work to come to a screeching halt and for everyone in the cancer to succumb to temptation and get disfellowshipped this coming Tuesday night". is the best prayer EVER. Maybe if you decide to DA you should give this prayer and go out in style. lol.

just thought i'd share that we attended our first "worldly" cookout last weekend.
everyone got drunk and it turned into a huge orgy.
at the end we sacrificed one of the partygoers to gozer the destroyer.. not!.

Confuzzled- I understand relationships are complicated and I understand you have feelings for this man. I really feel for you. However, I was born a JW, lived it until I was 26 and am now sharing my children with my JW ex husband. IT SUCKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to tell you to run away and do it quickly. It is not worth sacrificing your whole self for this man or this relationship. It may sound harsh but that is exactly what you will be doing. How long can you be happy like that? How many times have we seen friends changing things about themselves for lovers? How many times have we watched that trainwreck? Please, please start making a break. It's gonna be hard but you deserve someone that will love you for YOU.
