Think of it as a blessing. This might be just the kind of experience that gets your relitives out of the cancer. you never know what will be the trigger to get them to think.

J-Dub Gossip: How Do/Did You Handle It?
by DarioKehl inperhaps the biggest fear i have of leaving is the ensuing gossip that will follow.
i know it's stupid to worry about what will be said about me once i'm "out," but it kills me inside.
of course, that doesn't mean that i don't already deal with my fair share of gossip as it is while still "in.

my story....
by losecontrol inwell i am new to this, and i must admit that at first i was very opposed to this site.
i grew up being a witness and was warned about looking into apostate things, which is exactly what this site would be that they are referring to.
i always tried to live my life the best that i could under the societys control, and never really got to have any life experiance at all.

OK, I changed my mind. If the elder is next door just hand him the letter. Your husband is the other problem tho, tell him your dilema and ask him to look at the list. Will he be supportive at all?
Your little girl is going need a long talk about how you still love God (if you do?) and feel that that the people in the organization are being misled (or whatever you feel). If she has friends at the hall you may have to consider this too. A bible study with just the Bible may help you show her where you are at. Tell her God is the judge not the elders or people. If she is a typical kid, showing her you love her and God may be enough. If she has bought into the JW she will worry that you will die at Armagedon.
Do whats best for you!

First time ever - I attended my first Catholic Mass tonight...
by ziddina init was very interesting.... of course, the first thing i noticed was the building.
very different from a "kingdom hall" - this catholic church is in an extremely modern, six-sided building.
as one enters the building, their "holy water" font - fountain(???

Catholic Mass is simular to the wittnesses in that the same scriptures are read on the same days. You can google them for your daily text if you like. We went to Mass tonight and heard those same readings.
Shamus, you are on a roll tonight!

Not sure I can handle the anger anymore
by professor ini am over 30 and have been out of the "organization" for almost 14 years now.
my father is an elder who's main concern is kissing up to the c.o.
so he can move up the ranks and be important.

Some really good thoughts here. find it hard to let it go sometimes. I moved away when I left the borg. When the family doesnt see you too often they seem more friendly to me.

Chiropractic
by sass_my_frass ini have always suspected that chiropractic is a total crock.
the concept that having your backbone crackled a little bit every month will control your blood pressure, cure your asthma and keep you mobile and flu-free until you're 120 seems farfetched, and yet all my life every time i have had a headache i have been inclined to set up an appointment.. i've really only been in serious pain three times; some bad neck pain which cleared up after a depressing relationship, some lumbar pain from a bad lift incident which cleared up after three weeks of wiggling around on a fitball while i was watching tv in the evening, and some weird shoulder pain which cleared up when i rejoined a gym.
i have wasted a lot of money for many years - chiropractic just wasn't there for me.

I know this is a blast from the past, I believe that massage therapy has a lot more going for it than chiropractic. Tension is likely to make a problem joint hurt more and loosening up the muscles and relaxing will help all around. Pain is less and you heal faster.
Insurance won't cover it unless the MD prescribes it (here in the US.)
If you are strapped for cash and or don't like the idea (think sleazy). Go to a massage therapy school and get a supervised massage. They get a grade for it and will do a good job. Ask for recomendations at clinics or at the athletic club. The community college here has a year long program and the state has a certificate program.

e-document: "Blood on Their Hands: The Story of a Hemophiliac Child in the Jehovah's Witness Cult"
by AndersonsInfo inthis material is so important that i felt compelled to recommend it even though it costs a few dollars.
while you're reading what this sick child was put through at the hands of ignorant religious zealots, i think you will feel the emotional pain and anger i did.
how in the world can the witnesses in this child's world believe that they have love for others, when by their actions, they demonstrated that they don't.

I have a sister (a JW) who had problem pregnancies and she is a big proponant of breast feeding. I am sure there must lots more info here about the amount of white blood cells in breast milk. White cells are prohibited still I think. I did find a link
http://www.007b.com/wonders_breastmilk.php#wonders
It says how the breast milk has millions of living white blood cells and was thinking of sending the info to her plus any others you might know of that might help her think straight on the matter. What kind of convoluted information the society has that even lets them breast feed because of that issue? I know this is off topic somewhat but thought I might get a quicker answer here.
