Slappy, I grew up going to church until I left to join the witnesses. It is all much of a muchness. They had exactly the same attitude in church, perhaps more sweetly wrapped but same effect - man is the head, woman submissive.

Women as second class citizens
by iMARX ini don't know about anyone else, but even when i was 14 or 15 i had an issue with the fact that women are weaker vessels than men and we are to be submissive to our "head" of the house etc.... people just assumed i was a moody teenager trying to be cool by disagreeing with those scriptures but i was a feminist in the making.. i even asked an elder's wife about it and i said to her: "you're a headstrong woman, how do you feel about this?
do you think you should succumb to paul's every word and do as he says all the time??".
she replied: "i hate that scripture too sarah.

Yes this was definitely an area I had a problem with too. I hated it when women were given kitchen duties like making tea, coffee etc. A job which men were never asked to do. My old cong recently had a refurb and a note came round asking 'sisters' to bake a cake. So what's up then, cant men bleeding bake......................oh I forgot they are too busy being family heads for us wimpy weak women!

I am half way through it. Not easy reading but very interesting, proving that evolution did actually happen and the so called 'missing links' that creationists harp on about dont actually exist.

How far would you go to protect your fade?
by jabberwock intrying to fade inevitably involves some compromises.
still, i wonder how far i would be willing to go in order to leave on my own terms and not be disfellowshipped or pushed to disassociate.. at what point would you just give up and let them disfellowship you or send in a letter of disassociation?.
what would you do if someone found your copy of of crisis of conscience?.

I am planning on disassociating as soon as I have had opportunity to tell close friends first and a jw I work with. There is one chap who attends my old cong about 3 times a year with his jdub wife. He was baptised many years ago but faded and then just shows up for the occasional meeting and memorial. He gets treated like crap anyway.

What is your favorite poem? Here is mine
by HappyGuy inthou hast made me endless,.
such is thy pleasure.. this frail vessel thou emptiest again and again,.
and fillest it ever with fresh life.. this little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills and dales,.

Rudyard Kipling
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! -

All I heard just prior to leaving was that we were right near the end of the very end. Many wondered if it would happen before 2014 - 100 years since Jesus coming in Kingdom power and 100 years being a generation.

I have had a lovely relaxing sunday. Took the dogs for a walk, came back and had coffee and cake, listened to music and prepared the dinner. A few months ago it would have been rush to walk the dogs, go to boring meeting and sit there trying not to sleep or laugh too loud or perhaps get too mad at the stupid talk, wt and comments. Then when I got home it would be a rush to prepare dinner and before I knew it time to go to bed and back to work on Monday. Now I have me time, so here's to Sunday.

Seeking Sanity
I am sorry you are in this situation. I was cheated on several times in the past by one particular man. By the time we finally split I was in pieces, ended up in a mental hospital for two weeks, and a suspicion developed in me that has never left me to this day. Whilst I still have a tendency to feel jealous, I have learned to manage it. One of the ways is by having plenty to do in my life. As there are so many things that are important to me now, my entire focus isn't on my relationship. I also try to spend quality time with my husband. That can be quite difficult as he is still in the org but if you can do stuff together at every opportunity, you will feel closer and that may help you feel stronger and more confident in the relationship. I dont really know of any books, although I have read many relationship books in the past, but I did see a marriage guidance counsellor by myself, to sort out the issues that were going on in my head. Jealousy is a horrible feeling and quite destructive as you know, so I hope you manage to sort it out and feel a peace and security - no pun intended!!
