3 years of study, Just found out!

hello friends, .

i would like some advice from those that are inpartial, and are familiar with the teachings of jw.

i studied with a wonderful jw couple weekly for 3 years.

Impala, JWs are very good at twisting everything so they always look good and the other people look bad. I had a very good friend at work. After I was DFed she stopped talking to me. We used to be very close so it was really obvious to others. When they asked me what happened I always said ask R. it was her decision. After a long time I found out that she actually always said that I don't talk to her either. I was really upset and did confront her about it. I told her that she well knows that it was fully her decision and the only reason is that some organization told her to do so. I also told her that the only reason why she blames me is that if she tried to explain the truth most people would think that JWs are a crazy controling cult... She is a very nice person, but the stupid WT policies made her into a lier...

I wonder if the couple is really thinking about moving away or if it is preparing to drop you 'gently'.

A Purpose

"everything in life has a purpose" is something a lot of (religious) people tend to say.

i used to believe that too... but i have always been wandering about animals, bacteria and everthing around us.

what purpose is there?

Animals, including flies, have purpose. They are food for others.

On the other hand, purpose of human existence... I'm not too sure.

Free Will - What a Joke !

everytime i hear jw's talking about free will, i either feel the urge to burst in laughter or feel sick.

each publication keeps talking about how wonderful jokehova is for giving us free will.

the only small thing is that he'll kill you if you don't do exactly what he says.

You had been programmed for three years. You have to deprogram yourself. Do research on JW, go to a few more meetings, ask controversial question and see for yourself what they tell you.

Regarding the friendship, it will end as soon as you stop going along with their indoctrination. ALL of us who used to be JW lost family members and friends after leaving. I, personally, lost 100% of my friends. They don't even look at me when I run into them...

P.S. And DO read their publications. By studying the Bible you won't learn about the JW organization.

the discovery was made on the foreshore at low tide where heavy seas had removed the beach sand to reveal the normally flat estuarine muds.

Watching Amish Shunned on PBS...very deja vu if you are/were a JW!

this is a very interesting documentary...the similarities are so close, you could substitute jw for amish!

Very interesting documentary... While watching it I was thinking that there must be more into the rule that the JW women have to wear skirts or dresses at the meetings and in the service than just looking pretty and 'well arranged". It is quite surprising that they do not have to wear head coverings all the time as a sign of authority (1 Cor ch. 11). But I guess that's why short hair were frown upon.

I think that the old GB members actually believed their made up lies. The new members know it's all lies (the ease in changing all the important doctrines to fit new set of circumstances betrays them) and that's why they are worse.

...What do you Do,when People Ask You for Spare Change?...

.. .........................some people are truly in need..some are not... a man passing by on his 10 speed bike,asked me for $2.00 for a cup of coffee... .................................................."uhhh,no"... ............another asked me for spare change outside a super market... ......................................i said i didn`t have any... ...................so he say`s "how about a credit card?!"......lol!!...

.. ....................what do you do,when people ask you for spare change?...

I don't give money. I ask if they would like some food, they always say 'yes', and I give them a nice oatmeal bar which I usually carry with me. They smile with a beautiful smile and say 'God bless'. And I feel happy the rest of the day

On the other hand, when I was a JW I never gave anything. I was told that they are all drug users and giving them anything is equal to supporting their bad habit

I'm on a Catholic Answers Forum and somebody asked that question. I was convinced that JW say the formula but somebody said no. I always like to know the facts so I called the Bethel in Georgetown, Canada. Here is how it went (I don't remember the whole conversation exactly, it was longer than my description will be):

Very friendly and cheerful receptionist: Jehovah's witnesses, good afternoon. (a hint of nostagia swept over me) I asked the question and she connected me to the appropriate department. A man answered, I said that somebody at work told me that we don't get baptized in the name of F, S and h s, but I'm pretty sure we do, I even remembered studying what it means to be baptized in their name. I just need to know 'yes' or 'no'. He didn't answer but asked which congregation I'm associated with. I couldn't remember but than I did use a name of a cong. in the area that came to my mind. He said I should ask the elders. I said I haven't been to the meetings in a while, could he just give me a quick answer. He asked what was the question, I repeated the question, he asked if I have a paper and pen, I asked why, he said he will give me references, I asked what for, he said to do my own research in the online library, I again said that I just needed a simple 'yes' or 'no'. I really thought he will not give me the answer and then he suddenly said no, we don't use it. I thanked him for his honesty, hang up, and got really mad how sneaky they are. Nostagia's gone and I'm so glad I'm no longer one of them... And I'm so glad their baptizm isn't valid.
