by goingthruthemotions inso lately my wife and i have been arguing alot.

It's all about status. the wife of a good friend of mine was blaming him for her not being happy. It was his fault she wasn't happy because he wasn't an elder or ministerial servant. her dad, brother and brother in law were all elders but her husband wasn't so it made her unhappy. So he left her and told her to find an elder in the congregation to marry her and make her happy.

Does money buy happiness and a longer life? You decide...
by Brock Talon ini poured over time magazine's sep 8-15 2014 edition article "who we are" and put together this spreadsheet on the results from their poll.
i found the statistics quite fascinating.. most people would say that "money doesn't buy happiness", but this poll seems to me to indicate the exact opposite of that.
it also correlates education levels with higher earning that result in that happiness.

I liked the book the millionaire next door. I know a lot of people who live like this, people who have a high net worth but live a modest lifestyle.

I'm of the opinion that once you have your first million anything after that doesn't matter.
If you are at a place in life where you can choose what you will work at, own your house outright, have a reliable vehicle, can afford good food, health care what does the rest matter. Life is good

Four Levels of Shunning
by Londo111 inremember: the word shun means to avoid, especially persistently.. level 1. official watchtower policy makes extreme shunning mandatory for those disfellowshipped or disassociated.
there are, of course, two loopholes:.
(1) one is not shunned if living in the same household...but this works as long as one is not kicked out of their own home (like raypublisher was) or if the jw decide to leave as a consequence.. (2) one may do necessary family business..but this is open to interpretation and obviously relations are very uncomfortable and strained.. but for those two loopholes, a jw may not speak to the person shunned, not even to say hello.

Tv.jw.org - Average Jdub reaction? I'm getting NOTHING but Silence!
by 4thgen inhello all, as you know, when jw tv was announced, our board went wild.
many comments, much speculation and alot of negative feedback on the quality, etc.
well, what has me concerned is that i have not heard a peep from any of my connections left in kingdom-land.

I got it going on my computer yesterday to show mrs. hoser. I showed her the video at the end where the guy sings like a mixture of jack johnson and tracy chapman. She watched the video then Lett came on the screen and said "Jay Dubya dot org". My wife broke out laughing and went back to the living room to watch regular tv.

January 15, 2015 watchtower 3 study articles about marriage.
by hoser incouples having problems and getting divorced must be a problem in the jehovahs witnesses.
the articles are definately an interesting read.
they give plenty of bad advise as usual.

"Many couples also have difficulty in coping with demanding employment while caring for children"
" Stress and exhaustion make it difficult for some couples to take the time they need in order to strengthen their marriage."
Both of these situations could be avoided by DISOBEYING the teachings of the watchtower religion.
1. Get a good paying job even if it involves missing midweek meetings or disobeying the watchtower's position against higher education.
2. Don't waste your time in any form of full time service.
3. If you are tired on Saturday or Sunday morning and your body is telling you to stay in bed. Stay in bed.

@TD
"I just read the articles and would say none are so blind as those who will not see.
The JW faith itself is the biggest single strain on JW marriages, most especially because of the time it robs away from couples."
I would have to agree with you on this. Our marriage has blossomed since I stopped believing in the rubbish. I used to be a real a$$hole toward my wife because of the image I had to project while I was an appointed man in the congregation. I don't miss those days.

Witness Weddings "Introducing Brother and Sister...!"
by stuckinarut2 ini can not stand it when the speaker at a witness wedding introduces the new couple as "brother and sister_____".
how messed up does that sound especially to non-witnesses??.
just another stupid witness tradition that makes the rest of the world see how crazy they are!.

I know some Jehovah's Witness sisters are not changing their maiden names so mr and mrs would not be appropriate.
