Sister trying to convince me and herself
by NoMoreFear4Tracy inlong story short i was raised in this cult (but was never baptized) my mother is die hard jdub, i didnt take this "faith" seriously until i was 26, but i had always gone to meeting, was enrolled in the theocratic school and was mediocre in service.
at 26 i made the conscious decision to make this religion my own.
i red the bible cover to cover and used cross reference from the watchtower and other religious sites, with the end goal to get baptized.

Mennonites, Hutterites, Amish all do these things so the Jehovahs witnesses are not so unique after all

South American "Mayan" mob justice. Have you heard of it??
by DATA-DOG ini have a close friend who has jw family in south america.
recently some criminals ran through their town.
the locals routinely practice "mayan justice" where the criminals are beaten or burned to death, depending on the crime.. the authorities try to stop it, but they are not always successful.

this happened to a circuit overseer in a central American country. He was a real a-hole and a couple of publishers beat the crap out of him one night.

"The governing body at that time..."
by OneEyedJoe inso i'm listening to the regional manager give his mid week talk and he's going over acts 15 where they're dealing with the issues that arrose from the jewish christians wanting the gentile christians to adhear too the mosaic law, so some of the apostles gathered to hash it out.
it struck me, though, that he kept using the phrase "the governing body at that time" to describe the apostles and older men who decided on the matter.
once he even slipped up and said apostles, then corrected it to the gb.. i'm thinking that they've actually gone so far as to put it in his outline to make sure its beaten into the r/f that the gb's power is somehow based in scripture.

Wal-Mart Workers Plan Huge Protest on Black Friday
by talesin inwal-mart, which pays a top wage of $12.00+ to its full-time employees, is under attack, once again, by its employees and those who would like to unionize them.. i can't speak to the usa, but here in canada, most wal-mart employees are not full time.
it is mostly a part-time employer, so zero benefits.
in my opinion, that makes the $12.00+ look a lot smaller when you envision the actual paycheque.

Why not just work somewhere else? Problem solved.
Because every other retailer is out of business because of Wal Mart's predatory business model

Are Today's Elders The Same As The Elders of the Last Century?
by minimus ini was 24 when i was first appointed as an elder.
i very much respected the old timers, the elders that were basically good guys, family men and who tried to be good examples, although they knew they were far from perfect.
i haven't been to a meeting in about a decade and i wonder if the elders of today are that much different than those of yesteryear.

Wal mart brainwashes their employees though their morning worship program. Some of them seriously believe that Walmart is a good employer and that they would fail if they tried to go elsewhere
