The governing body will keep the scam going until the bitter end.
Who else do they have to go out to Lord?
like the org just gives up and comes out saying that all of what they are saying is untrue and that there is no armageddon, nothing.
how do y’all think the the members still in it would react?.
there be a mental health crisis i perhaps.

this thread currently has over 300 comments.. it shows a picture of an older man washing a window looking wistfully… then it talks all about how some may have doubts about not having planned and the situation they are in now that they are older, etc.
it refers to others who did plan and who supposedly have ‘apparent’ financial security.
in my opinion, the whole gist of this article is to make older witnesses feel better who did not pursue a career or plan well for retirement.. it tries to imply that those others who planned only have ‘apparent’ financial security - which is to say they don’t (?).
It is expensive to be a popular jw
You miss a lot of paying work and you provide a lot of free labour to the watchtower corporations
You have to take time off work for elder school and pioneer school
my parents would buy brand new cars and have them miled out in 5 years in theocratic activities
There is nothing left over for your retirement savings. Watchtower owns the house and the house never loses.
anyone have any anecdotal reports of individual congregation finances since the stealth takeover by the wt of their checking accounts?.
are donations up?
can they pay their bills?.
The borg skim off the tops of the congregations but when the roof needs repair they solicit the congregation for more donations
it happened at a rally in pennsylvania, apparently.
he seems ok i've seen a photo of him bleeding from his ear.
this is absolutely nutso....if it's too it doesn't surprise me the way they constantly describe him as "far right" and that his supporters are "maga republicans".
awake 1976 - should a pocket calculator be in your pocket?.
somehow this totally zany 'bible based' article passed me by first time around!.
anyone remember it?.
2 Thess 3:11
Another reason to “mark” the watchtower society as bad association and withdraw from them
Meddling in what does not concern them
My dad had one of those calculators for work. I think it was several hundred dollars. Not exactly pocket change in 1976.
Money that could have gone to the borg
i had a teacher in jr. high in my advanced education class talk about givers and takers as a subject.
looking back, perhaps she was going through a rough patchmakes me wonder.. this morning i had one of those moments of realization, basically from reviewing recent events, and even more so because i was mentally rehashing some conversations with someone who means a lot to me.
it dawned on me the role she has come to play in one of the major events of her life, as well as who she became because of it.
This is me.
I was raised to avoid conflict and be a people pleaser. A good little jw.
A perfect combination to be a victim of burnout and takers were naturally attracted to me. I had resources to offer that I gave up too easily.
It took many years but I can now identify takers early on in the relationship and can avoid those situations.
Most Jehovah’s witnesses are takers. They are friendly only if you are compliant to their demands. As soon as you step outside the box and do a little different they ignore you, hoping to shame or nudge you back into compliance.
from reddit.. a summary of changes: .
we are all sinners, so we have to be reasonable how we punish sinners.
if elders and congregation do not quickly help someone come to be reinstated they would be imitating satan the devil, not jehovah (yes that actually is what is said in the tagalog version in translation!
Until the officIal English version comes out we don’t know the full extent of the changes.
Disfellowshipping isn’t going away any time soon.
i was born in 1964, so, i was 10 when the buildup to 1975 was happening (and watched the subsequent failure of that).then, when i was a teenager, i got to see the fallour of the big apostacy events in the 1980s.during all of this, i was told by my parents and by people of my parents' peer group that "this old system won't last much longer, and won't the new system be great!
"it is now 2024. i am going to be 60 years old in a few months.
over half a century.my mom died two months after her 80th birthday last year, after suffering for years of chronic poor health (some of it brought on by a very sedentary lifestyle, but also plagued by emotional and mental issues and family drama which did not help overall.
Part of the orgs downfall is the end of the boomer generation.
Lots of old people in the Kingdom Halls and many younger ones don’t have the same zeal.
Like many businesses a lack of labour will be their downfall
the september watchtower has already been released and is being discussed over on reddit.
some highlights: .
1. more hitting the flock on total reliance and obedience to god's representatives on earth today, the f&ds (the governing body, of course).
I don’t think any of the rank and file dubs have noticed the august WT is missing yet.
Thats how much they actually pay attention.
Apostates and faders are more interested and knowledgeable about watchtower going ons than Jehovah’s witnesses are.
i am in western canada.
we use to have our assembly in saskatoon.
our assembly has moved to medicine hat.
I haven’t been to an in person regional convention since 2019.
I’m going this year to one so I’ll snap a few pics on my cell and see if an attendant shuts me down.
