i would love to hear from former elders.. .
my wife and i will be moving soon, and as i described in an earlier post we will be using the move as an opportunity to fade.

The brutal truth is that they don't care enough to bother with trying to find you. Yet another way they disgrace Christ.

I too served as a Secretary for a time....but the WT Conductor for much longer.
Its NOT difficult to fade.
Hell......look up an address for a KH in Chicago and have your cards sent there. The current rules are that they aren't supposed to wait; just send them. They will send the cards to the address......you will never show......they will never follow up with the old congregation (even if they did, the elders won't know what to say).........and (((POOOOOOOFFFF))))) you're gone.
FYI.....I did this myself. Left the congregation, went to one across town, stopped going, the secretary called and I told him I'm attending another congregation, he sent my cards to that KH and I've NEVER attended. They asked my mother about me once and she said "leave him alone".......and (((POOOOOOFFFFFFFF)))) ..........I was gone.
I will admit that they are a bit 'afraid' of me....... I was a "big shot elder" (I know...RIDICULOUS)....so I 'know' a lot of their dirty laundry. They just leave me alone.
i'm in a tough position.
i gave my last talk as an ms a couple of weeks ago, and i haven't been out in field service in well over a month.
i "came out" to the closest people in my life...namely my gf and mother...i was also recently asked to step down from being a servant - largely because my heart was no longer in it and i couldn't stomach going from door to door peddling magazines and other literature full of lies and logical fallacies.
What Serenity said is SPOT ON.
As a former elder, I can tell you, most of them are painfully lazy and don't WANT to find people.
Go dark. Disappear. Don't rip them....just walk away.....when you see someone, just tell them you've been depressed and have been thinking about moving.
POOF............. you're done.
well, i walked in and got the love-bombing before i even made it past the foyer.
everyone's missed me, everyone's thrilled that i came, blah, blah, blah.
to be fair though, there were a few there that i do miss so it was nice to see them.
LOL.....I went with my mother, FOR my mother last night.
The 'speaker' said there were 11,000 last year.
I started laughing, people looked at me. Ummmmm, there were 8,000 when I gave the talk a few years ago.
Apparently, they are coming back from heaven LOL LOL
But the funniest comment of the night was when the 'speaker' read the daily text ......where it stated that the evil does hanging next to Jesus KNEW about a paradise earth..... that's right KNEW about the paradise earth.
WTF??? He had just got done asking Jesus if he was in fact King of the Jews.....how did he know about a paradise earth? Didn't the JW's start preaching that hope around 1935???
Totally insane. Not one person even flinched.
maybe i just don't pay enough attention at meetings, which is a serious possibility.
of the supposed 144,000 thousand jw's that are supposed to go to heaven, how many have there been thus far?
what happens if their number surpasses that 144,000?.

even though i've been out for over 7 years and haven't attended in that long - i never cease to be amazed at the arrogance of this patriarchal man pleasing wt society in it's dismissive attitude towards women .

They say that stuff......but you're delusional if you think that women don't run the congregation.
I've NEVER been in a congregation or served on any level where the women weren't dragging their husbands around by their noses. The WORST were elders wives. Some of them flat out made jokes about never having sex and "to bad for him"...... some of the worst women I've ever known.
So ....yes....this is mysogynist council......but as someone that served for 17 years.... you can forget telling me these women are subservient.... they are the epitome of bad women.
well, i never really paid attention before,until it was brought to my attention here on jwn,but andre sure has a lot going on in his life.. i happened to see in the march 1,2010 watchtower on page 21, the box on remarriage,the article is about the death of a marriage mate,andres,was against his father remarrying.
but,then, he realized marriage cheered his father up again.. i think finding andre is a new fun game and makes it even worth glancing through the magazines again.

my youngest sister is the only person in my jw family who has had any real contact with my husband and i and our baby.
for the first year she cut us off too but then after a while she seemed to realize how horrible it was and she opened up to us.. well, she is very easily influenced by the family and so she cut us off again.
she tried to feed me the line about it being for our own good blah, blah, blah.. here is an excerpt from how i replied:.

Its not so much that some of the principles or points in these types of studies aren't valid.....
Its that you will get ZERO help from an elder or anyone else in this organization. If people heard what elders say in the "B school" during elder meetings, they would never go to them. Most of them could care less.
