To a JW I know, and presumably many others, the mere existence of DNA evidence of god.
Leaving aside that the patterns found in DNA are actually evidence of evolution, how do you argue with that?
hey folks.
i've been on this board for just under seven months and i thank all of you who have contributed so generously to my education on things watchtower, and quite a few other things too.
not all of it was on here but it was through this board i've been directed to sites like freeminds and jwfacts.

my atomic clock has a feature which gives moon phases.
it won't reach full moon status until tomorrow.
You have an atomic clock????
does anyone know what's the story with that simplified wt?
is that the new dubbie-wt for simpletons, drones and zerglings?.

Newspeak is closely based on English but has a greatly reduced and simplified vocabulary and grammar. This suits the totalitarian regime of the Party, whose aim is to make any alternative thinking—"thoughtcrime", or "crimethink" in the newest edition of Newspeak—impossible by removing any words or possible constructs which describe the ideas of freedom, rebellion and so on.
why do jws think it's wrong to celebrate, say, birthdays?.
is it just because some group they define as evil (pagans?
why does that matter?
What are these 12 rules and what bearing do they have on banned celebrations?

Why do JWs think it's wrong to celebrate, say, birthdays?
Is it just because some group they define as evil (pagans?) did so?
Why does that matter? Presumably other 'evil' groups have made rice, shaved facial hair, planted flowers, invented games and worn hats. Are these thing also wrong?
Am I missing something?

If Behe is such an authority on the matter, why do he need to tell lies?

I can see how people that don't understand evolution might find this compelling but that's only because they don't understand evolution.
Additionally, these particular examples of "irreducible complexity" are easily explained, and have been so, with EVIDENCE.
Many people, probably most, who create this stuff, know the counter arguments but conveniently omit those from their productions, presumably to exploit people's lack of knowledge on the subject.
Same old, same old.
for many years i was sincerely perplexed when someone told me they believed in the evolution theory or were an atheist.
i never understood how someone could ignore all the evidence for intelligent design and overlook all the holes in the evolution theory.
for example, the human biology clock is synced with the rotation of the earth, the earth is the perfect distance away from the sun to sustain life, the earth has an ozone layer to protect us from the sun's radiation, the earth naturally produces fruits and vegetables to be used for food, our bodies produce enzymes to break down the fruits and vegetables so it can nourish us, the earth produces water and oxygen, etc.
you are either a fool or a liar

i don't believe in god.. if i understand the jw claim correctly, god exists, always did, always will.. just existed forever.. if this is the case then god didn't cause his own existence.. then why does he deserve any credit or worship?.
only jw answer i can think of is that worship is good for us, but this means we were created to worship!.
why would god do this?.
brotherdan, why is this true?
'He gave you life and that alone gives him the right to ask for your devotion'
I really don't see the connection.
By analagy, if I created a self-aware computer program with free will and a desire to continue existing, I don't feel that it is moral or ethical to demand worship even if I wanted it. Not only that but after creating it I would feel a huge responsibility to minimise the suffering of this creature as much as I could, having put it in a position where suffering is possible.
If I could somehow *ask* to be brought into existence then maybe I have something to be thankful for but I didn't.
Please explain why '...that alone gives him the right to ask for your devotion'
Thanks
P.S. Do you actually believe this or are you just giving the JW position I asked for?
