  it's that time again!

  time for the watchtower to beg for contributions!.

  the nov. 1 wt has the usual article with a great big grey box covering two pages.

  Actually Ozzie, they're lucky if they get even ONE contribution for the literature. Don't forget: most Witnesses are notoriously CHEAP; they're always trying to get freebies from other brothers with businesses, and if you ever go to a brother who's an auto mechanic, they'll tell you that the worst ones for paying their bills are their fellow "brothers and sisters".

  So seeing as they're not being "forced" to pay for magazines any more (all done on the honour system), there are alot of Dubs that don't give one red cent towards the cost of the mags. Then, most Witnesses would rather just give the magazines away at the doors rather than ask for the "donation"; it's not as embarassing and you would probably place more if people think they're free.

  Even if they do get a donation at the door, they probably get it 10 minutes before coffee break time so that one's down the drain too.

  I knew someone at the Canadian Bethel and they said that the money situation has fallen off dramatically. Not that the Society is starving or anything, but they're not getting anything near what they used to get, hence the cutbacks.

  WTS is loosing $$$ in magazine contributions

  my brother, who is an elder, just called me to see how i was doing.

  he doesn't know that i'm not attending the meetings.

  i asked him how him & his wife, a pioneer are doing.

  ".....He told me that people have been really "rude" due to all the WTS Children abuse in the media & that they hardly placed any magazines with householders anymore. She hasn't started any new bible studies in months. Her bible studies are no longer wanting to study. They keep asking "excellent" questions on the abuse issues. They have had to reduce their magazine order by from 200 (100 sets) to 120 or 60 sets. He is thinking of reducing it again since they can't even place 1/2 of them anymore....."

  LOL!! Good! This is the ONLY way the average Witness is ever going to find out the truth about what's going on in the Organization with regards to pedophiles.

  Life sucks

  all right- all those out there who own pets, or have owned pets will hopefully see my point of view and understand.

  the rest of you can point and laugh at my weakness.... my cat is dying.

  she is 119 in people years, i guess it's to be expected that she go sometime, but still it sucks!

  It's always tough when your pet dies, as we get very attached to them and they're like family, so you're perfectly justified in feeling this way. Take care.

  it is interesting to hear the reasons why jehovah's witnesses have a much higher rate of mental illness than the normal population.

  It's terrible to say, but the JW Organization seems to attract alot of people who have emotional problems in the first place. Look around your hall: there's not a lot there that have really good jobs: most Witnesses I know are in deep financial trouble, most of the wives don't work, or if they do, it's either house cleaning or working part time in a supermarket. Then you have the constant veiled threat hanging over your head at 5 meetings a week telling you that you COULD be doing more, why aren't you doing more, when are you going to stop being so materialistic, why did you miss the meeting last week? Are you getting MORE than 10 hours in a month? Why the hell not?

  We actually had a part in a meeting about a year ago where they had every single brother in the congregation with "responsibilities", come up to the platform so everyone could clap for them. Those brothers who were NOBODYS in the hall, were left looking as though they were totally worthless. I did NOT clap. I was disgusted.

  So low paying jobs, kids to raise, bills to pay, low self-esteem constantly instilled in you for "not doing enough", stuck in bad marriages, being forced to attend 5 meetings a week plus service service service, where 99% of the time, you don't want to do this............gee, I wonder why there's so much mental illness...........pretty rare you ever see someone with a PhD become a Witness.

  Don't expect too much help from the Canadian government.......once again our Prime Minister has suceeded in embarrassing us in front of the whole world with the unbelievably stupid comments he made the other day like "Et ez bro-bably de Wes-turn world'z own fault vor Zeptember 11th, because de Western World ez greedy and arrogant and de poorer nations don't like dat."

  Was just watching that movie "Thirteen Days"......excellent movie and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the situation we're going through now with potential war looming ahead of us. It's about how close we came to blowing ourselves to kingdom come during the Cuban Missile Crisis and it's shown from the President's point of view........

  in every kingdom hall, there seems to be that one family that always irritates you.

  in our hall there is this one family that thinks they have been blessed by jehovah himself because nearly all of the children became either bethelites, traveling overseers,or elders.their comments always have that tone which is condescending.

  they always give their "wonderful experiences" of how they helped 2000 people in the "truth".

  Only one? Geeze..........ya our PO is an arrogant a##hole: daughter's a regular pioneer, son and his bitchified wife are preaching to all the natives somewhere over in Africa I think......I hope those two lions; the Ghost and the Darkness bite their spiritual bums off.

  Anyway, the PO is for-EVER droning on and on and on about all the wonderful "experiences" his nazi-like son is having in his missionary work. He'll be in the middle of doing the WT study and he totally changes the subject and starts boring everyone to death................Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I'm sure tongues of fire follow them everywhere they go........

  for those who have left the organization, have any of you gone to another church?

  or did being a jw simply turn you off religion altogether.

  i feel i would like to still belong to a religious group (that's just in my personality) but of course, i would feel really guilty at first going in to "babylon the great".

  i loved this one movie with jim carry called "liar liar" and i always wished i could make the witnesses tell the truth in field service, just for one day.

  LIAR, LIAR? Yep, if Witnesses were forced to speak what they really felt at the door, it'd be quite entertaining:

  JW: Knock, knock, knock.......good morning, how are you today? I really don't care, I'm only asking you this to take up time and to try and impress this elder that I'm with that I want more power within the congregation and that I should be an MS. Chicks love men with power! Anyhoo, I'm offering you the latest issues of the Watchtower and Awake! magazines. I have't bothered to read them myself and have no idea what's in them, but if you take them, it'll look really good for me!

  HH: Are you Jehovah Witness?

  JW: (sigh) It's pro-nounced: JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!! Is english your second language??!!! Get it straight!!! Now cough up some money for these mags cause it's almost coffee break time and we gotta go clear across town for that...........twenty five cents!!! Ya cheapskate!!!!

  we bought a van 1 year ago this month.

  it is a 1995 chevy conversion van, loaded, high top, tv, vcr and game station.

  it is really beautiful.
