DP, they gotta make it invisible. Making those things visible runs into the dollars and they need that money!

How will the "new earth" be cleaned up ?
by man in black ini remember reading about the after effects of armageddon throughout the years, how the birds and beasts will ,eat their fill of the dead bodies.. pictures in the books and magazines showing how people will be destroyed by fire, weather, and earthquakes.
then reading a real insightful post somewhere on this site which was titled something along the lines of "diary of an armageddon survivor".. but now that i have left this religion, i have never really understood accurately just how the wt society believes that the earth will be cleaned up right after the big a.. when the witnesses were studying with my parents back in the mid 70's the po had the idea that god would somehow use matter/antimatter to clean up all of the bodies.
animals eating them all was another point, and the one where survivors would actually have to go around and bury them all was just totally bizzare to me.. (watch the series band of brothers, episode titled "why we fight" this is where the soldiers find a concentration camp,,,, it is a very frightening thing to watch to believe that god would make rightous survivors spend time doing this in the paradise cleaning up without looking for survivors.

There's nothing loving about the JW view of Armageddon.

The 'Last days' of the Watchtower Society - any truth in this?

is it wishful thinking?
6 screens of the wt has this as their website banner but that website is like a tabloid newspaper..

As we've learned with cults, there has to a big event that leads to its downfall. Look at Jonestown or Waco. Sadly, when cults go down, they take all of their members with them.

Friends dad committed suicide...
by MrFreeze inan old friend from in the jw's dad (who was a non-jw) committed suicide the other day.
i've been trying to call him for days but he doesn't answer.
probably doesn't want to talk to someone "lawless and demon-infested".

NC, he was ignoring my calls before the incident.

Fading vs. D'F'd
by Band on the Run ini don't know the details.
is it true that if you slowly withdraw, you are free to go but if you are active and do an offense, you are shunned.
is their principle whether you are appropriating and blemishing the name vs. severity of the actual offense.

I chose the direct route of telling them how I felt about the JW's. I haven't had a JC but I have had countless visits from "concerned" ones. Probably the hardest thing I ever did in my life.

Old freind from old jw life, trying to get in touch...
by highdose ini happened to access my old email address today.
amongst the many spams etc was a email from a old jw freind i used to know when i was in.
this was a nice freind to me, right up until she got herself a boyfreind and then just didn't want to know, in fact i hadn't heard from her since.

Sometimes you gotta call it like you see it. She probably has been thinking about you and maybe feels bad she deserted you. I'd say give it a shot.

I think I'm gonna try to be the bigger man and go anyway. Not to stick it to him but maybe me showing up will change his opinion of me.
I did like his dad though. He was always really nice to me and eventually got caught up in drugs, gambling, booze and eventually had an affair. His wife seperated from him about a year ago. He had a lot of problems to deal with and I'm not so sure he had any way out of the hole he was in other than the path he took. It saddens me greatly.

Probably doesn't want to talk to someone "lawless and demon-infested". This JW was one of my best friends when i was back in the organization. Now he doesn't want anything to do with me. I found out what day the funeral service will be, this Tuesday. I'm wondering if I should even go. I would like to be supportive to their family because we were very close-knit before I left the JW's. I'm leaning towards going anyway but what do you all think about it?

Things I have heard about California JW's
by mamalove inafter reading the two piece bikini discussion and the comment about calipornea, it reminded me of something i used to hear about the jw attitude in general there.
that it was extremely lax compared to mid west or other areas.. people were supposedly not df'd when they would most definitely been elsewhere, and more "worldy" type of dress and grooming were tolerated well.. is this correct at least in some areas?
if so, do you think it has to do with money, or the general culture there?.

I'm gonna say culture.
