Wanted to say something in response to your statement on "The key to happiness"....
I have come to learn lately that in order to have TRUE happiness one MUST be "a giver"...giving from the heart, not out of compulsion or obligation. Remember, "There is MORE happiness in GIVING than in RECEIVING."
Giving of ourselves in whatever gifts we have been given is what brings happiness and joy.

Coming to the understanding that the organization is NOT who they say they are, THE TRUTH, doesn't take too long. BUT LETTING GO truly in your heart is difficult and takes time. I was raised my whole life in the org and came out at 36. FEAR, GUILT and FAMILY is some pretty tuff baggage. With time, it heals. Only with continuous prayers in my case, that are answered daily.
Suggestion: Do not worry about the research. In your heart continue praying for truth. Do not blame Jah for the fact that the adversary posed as "an angel of light" and misled even US for a time. Use what we were taught and LIVE IT. As the saying goes, "Do as they say, NOT as THEY (the org) do!"
Remember we are not under mans laws, domination. LOVE is the genuine motivating factor to follw.
Also, remember JOHN 5: 39 and 40. There is only ONE way to LIFE.
Also, there is ONLY one truth. It is a he! JOHN 14:6.
Pray for the helper, the holy spirit, to guide you in your walk and teach you all things. Listen with your spiritual eyes and ears to hear what the spirit is saying.

I feel for your situation right now that you are torn with.
May I ask you, Fellowship is important, yes. But do you feel you have to join or go to a "CHURCH", building, to get the true encouragement you need?
Remember the encouragement at GALATIANS 5:1. And since we have come out of such a "great bondage" under man in the organization, why put ourselves 'back under' man again?
The true church that Christ formed were "people", they were the Church, the temple NOW that Jah's spirit dwells in. Not something handmade. ACTS 17:24,25.

Pray that Jah through his son send you the help you need and the direction needed to strenghthen and upbuild you spiritually.
There are people out there, NO not the majority, but there are some, unlike what we have been taught in the org, who truly love our Lord and master and will be a support in that for you. Pray that our Father send them to you. Listen to the direction of the spirit and you will find joy, peace, and comfort.
I pray that you find that.

i voluntarily disassociated from the jws in 1980. i was actively involved in ministry to jws and ex-jws for the next 10 years.
the past 10 years or so i've moved on with my life and lost touch with much of what was happening with the watch tower society and ex-witnesses.
of course, growing up in the witnesses leaves its imprint on you.

We came out almost 4 years ago. The spirit opened our eyes to THEM and the truth about them almost over night. We left immediately.
Sort-of-like Lot and his family leaving Sodom and Gomorrah.

i'm still sitting on the fence trying to figure out which direction to go in.
i think one of the reasons i have'nt left yet is because of the fact that i'm not entirely sure that the wts is really not god's organization.. some of the reasons why i feel that way is because of their insight on the scripture.
i've never heard of any other religion attempt to decipher the prophecies in the book of daniel and revelations.

I just wanted to share some thoughts and scriptures that I found helpful in my 'coming out.'
First, if you are NOT sure, then continue in prays "seeking, knocking and asking" for truth, it WILL be opened to you. That is, IF, you really are asking and WANT to hear the answer, it will be given.
Understanding first who really is behind this WTBS is a true eye awakening. Of course, for many sheep that NEED to be led is where GALATIANS 4 comes in. If our faith is not to the point where we truly understand what "walking by faith and NOT by sight is" what "worshipping in spirit and truth" really is...then "under men in charge" is where we will remain.
Remember, the adversary posses as "an angel of light." So he and what he produces, propanganda, religion, etc....will look as close to the real thing as possible without it being such. Remember he can even mislead chosen ones. So it will look and feel like the real thing, but be spiritually detrimental.
There is only ONE TRUTH and it is not a where. It is found at John 14:6 and it is HE who is the truth. He also says and invites each of us to : MATTHEW 11:28-30, John 10, John 6:48-58, Luke 11:13,....come to HIM, enter this new covenant, remain in it, ask for holy spirit to come upon you and lead you. (1John 2:26-28)
We have been taught something very confusing. We are told that ALL of Gods people can have holy spirit if they pray for it, yet on the other hand we are told that NO YOU CAN'T unless your anointed.
So, which is it? Is there truly a mans number that says only 144,000 can receive holy spirit. Because the great crowd HAVE IT ALSO, because they "stand before the throne dressed in white robes."
And where might that throne be?? Revelation 19:1 gives you the clue.
Notice in John 6:48-58 ANYONE is invited into this covenant of eating and drinking, not just 144,000.
In the wilderness (1Cor.10:1-) ALL of Israel ate and drank, yet not ALL were priests were they? Eating and drinking doesn't make an invidual "anointed." The 12 apostles "ate and drank" with Jesus the night before he died and they hadn't "received" holy spirit until 50 days later at pentecost. So......

according to jw media, baptism "symbolizes one's dedication to god".. on this basis, a jw's allegiance and obedience is to god.
thus, the article goes on to state:jehovah's witnesses avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the scriptures.
, and they do not follow traditions that contradict bible teachings.

Please do look up the scriptures suggested. Along with them start with JOHN 5:39 and 40 and focus in on the "where" one gets salvation.
The bible "LEADS" us to the one that gives us life. It is "HE" that is "the way" "the truth" and "the life". It is he who sends the "holy spirit" and it is that spirit that teaches us so that we "do not put our trust in nobles to whom no salvation belongs." PSALMS 146:3&4.
"Keep on seeking, knocking and asking and IT WILL be opened to you."
The org has set themselves up as "the truth". As the one to whom we should look to for salvation. They even call themselves, "the visible representation of the lord on earth." They have made themselves as a golden calf or a copper serpent for people to look up to instead of the one that Jah has sent for us to come to. MATTHEW 11:28-30

i'm having a hard time just picking up the bible & reading it - but i'm terrified of picking up any "study material" from other organized religions to help.

this is a good question. Especially after coming out of what we were raised is "the only truth."
Where DOES one go???
The answer is simple. Our lord is NOT and has NEVER wanted mankind to turn to "religion". That is what keeps enslaving us all over agian. GALATIANS 4:1-(read please) GALATIANS 5:1.
The where "we go" is a who and "HE" invites us to come to him. MATTHEW 11:28-30. Also the bible is a compilation of many books. Not all of the 66 books are "inspired." Only the book of Moses, the prophets (what they wrote) Psalms and Revelation. The rest are letters, history, commendation to the "church" (people)and lot of arguing between the Jews and Gentiles....
As far as "studying" the bible, please take a minute a read JOHN 5:39&40. I was amazed the first time I read it.
Also ECCLESIATES 12:11,12 and think about how many "books" etc we used in the org to trrryyyy to understand ONE book, the bible!
They are TRULY "wearisome to the flesh."

it seems that just because most have bad experiences with the wt that everyone here is an atheist.
i myself was something at least of an agnostic for quite some time after breaking free of the borg, but now i see things in a different light.
