Weird. My children are never shunned. The JWs make it a point to come up and have conversations with them when I am with them.
Guess those are some REAL hardliners!
my sister was recently disfellowshipped and she told me that she was eating in a restaurant yesterday when the elder that disfellowshipped her was seated at the table next to her.
of course they would not breathe a word to her.
but her son (4 years old) had kept saying hello over and over to the elder and his wife and they both refused to acknowledge him, smile of even say hello back.

i wonder if this will be the new trend to save money.
"do not want to lose the intimate touch with the sheep"..
Bwahahahahahahahaha!
i got this email from someone i work with.
subject: ...a bit ironic... thought you would like this one.w .

That's just too funny, lol.
When I tell people around here that, they don't really have the foggiest notion what JWs are all about. One of my fellow coworkers was telling me about a Christian women's weekend retreat she went to, and my boss said "surely you went to one of those in your missionary days." LOL
i was in target the other day with this girl that i have been dating for a few weeks - we were browing around, she was getting some housewares for a new apartment that she is moving in to..but that's neither here nor there... .
i turn the corner - and there stand a couple of dubs that were assigned to my book study when i was an elder last year.
one of them is 24 years old, the other is around 18 or 19 now.
I find it ironic that when JWs run into my daughter and I together, they talk to her but not to me. She actually left before I did. She was never allowed to be baptised when she asked. I was baptised and officially DAd myself, without giving them any reason beyond I no longer wished to be a JW.They really think that shunning me and talking to her will make me want to come back. Actually, it makes her angrier than it makes me, and reminds me of all the reasons why I left in the first place. Although it IS pretty handy that she can pass messages to me, lol.
this thursday i will be attending my very first, real, live, thanksgiving dinner with some extended ("worldy") family.
i'm pretty excited.
i guess it might sound kind of silly to a lot of people, but then again, i've never celebrated any holiday in my entire life (born and raised in dub-world).
Enjoy!
I wasn't born into JWs, so I had Thanksgiving before I joined. My children's first Thanksgiving actually came while we were still JWsI had to testify in a family court battle, and stayed with nonJWs because the court house was in their jurisdiction. So we shared in the Thanksgiving meal, because they were our hosts.Naughty, rebellious me (a woman, gasp) even said the prayer with MY HEAD UNCOVERED.
i wanted to get your opinion on something.
how do you all feel about getting in touch with long-lost ex-jws?
there are a couple of people i used to know that i would love to hang out with again.
I really think it depends on the person. I've had exJW friends who stay in contact. I recently had an exJW contact ME, then never reply when I replied to her. But then, she has family still in and I'm a scarlet letter Apostate (she was disfellowshipped, I DA'd). I'm not pushing the issue. She knows where I am.
interesting question i think.. the society says we "search out deserving ones" and "those rightly disposed", those who have "the right heart condition" - did you ever feel this was you when you accepted the truth?
did you feel that jehovah thought you as a deserving one?.
Yeah, I had the right heart condition. I was young, newly married, and looking for some way for my family to not turn out like the dysfunctional family I came from.Oh, and I was raised in a family that saw everything in black and white.
Perfect cult material.
all in the family is one of the very best series, in my opinion.. when i see re-runs of the andy griffith show, i smile.
when i was a kid, i never really appreciated don knotts and the gang as much as i do now.. taxi was another favorite.
hill street blues was great.
LOL, I was a Trekkie years ago. I don't much like the new ones, though.
