Hello--new to the witnesses...and you

just wanted to introduce myself.

i went to the kh for the first time 2 weeks ago...and will go again tomorrow.

i don't believe anything witnessy...(i was raised in the assembly of god church and now the closest thing i "do" with religion is yoga or sometimes the buddhist temple).... but the man i'm in love with is a df'd jw (we've been together for 6 years).... and he wants to get reinstated just to talk to his family again (i can assure you he does not believe it).... and he wants his family to accept me because we are about to get married... so, i'm going to meetings...its very interesting, but only because it shows me more about how he was raised.

Welcome LKM and I am sorry for your situation. The only way to make peace with JWs is to blindly follow the GB and Watchtower's doctrines and practices. If this sounds, harsh it is, but that is what JWs believe! You would be better off spending time having fun with your fiance with "Worldly" friends than going to KHs and assemblies. To understand what you are getting yourself into, I would recommend that you and your fiance read Steve Hassan's books (i.e., Combatting Cult Mind Control and Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves), visiting Steve Hassan's website www.freedomofmind.com, and reading Raymond Franz's books (e.g., Crisis of Conscience). If your fiance has not read the aforementioned books or does not want to read them, then I would recommend that you RUN - DON'T WALK - away from your fiance, JWs, and the WTBTS. You never know how the WTBTS' thought reform will effect people.

if we weren't invited, this is the "bragging" information we missed last saturday, oct. 22, 2011, at the zone meeting with tie-in from patterson, ny .

59 locations tied-in plus spanish.

anticipating 258,000 attendance from tickets given out.

3-story 300 room facility to be completed there by 2014, plus, parking garage and recreational facility.

Does this mean that the Apocalypse will not come too soon or at least after 2014? Also, how many JWs do you know go to recreational facilties or gyms? Aren't JWs too busy going D2D to go to a gym or recreational facility?

FYI. Yesterday I sent an email to Steven Unthank thanking him for prosecuting the GB and WTBTS. I really like his can do attitude!! The following is Steven's reply:

Thank you for your encouragement. You are right in that it has taken a huge toll on me financially, emotionally, and mentally. In doing what I have done I have lost 99% of my friends and most of my family over the past 3 years and 3 months I have been working on this.
My victory, after a 3 year battle, is that I have forced the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Watch Tower Society to comply with mandatory child protection laws.
Now it is time to hold accountable those who have broken the law. I may not win but I can try. And if I don't try then I can never win.

Who's Bringing Reproach on Jehovah's Name NOW?

this thought isn't fully formed, but maybe someone can expand on it.... i've been keeping an eye on the situation developing with steven unthank's case against the wt in australia - how they have completely disregarded the law about child abuse registry checks for elders - and it seems to be that they've done the very thing we all lived in fear of doing: bringing reproach on jehovah's name.. they talk about how if jw's engage in wrong conduct they are bringing reproach on god's name, or how satan has heaped reproach on jehovah's name... well, it seems to me they are doing an awfully good job of it themselves.... in addition look at the qualifications for an elder as laid out in 1 timothy... with these words in mind, it seems to me the gb have since disqualified themselves.... 1 timothy 3:1-7 .

1 it is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do.

2 an overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,.

I agree with you headisspinning, but how do you get 7 million+ active JWs to use their brains to start questioning the GB and the WTBTS? The GB and WTBTS is very good at indoctrinating JWs. I feel that more would be accomplished by writing to news organizations to expose the conduct of the WTBTS and to politicians to pass laws to prohibit giving dangerous cults tax exemptions and/or contributions, then to show an active JW the truth about their "Truth".

Upset my mom. :(

last weekend, my parents had the kids and my wife and i had a whole weekend just to ourselves.

it was great; we did nothing the entire time except relax and enjoy the silence.. last night we went to pick up the kids.

my mom made dinner, and we ate and visited, and i sadly got into it with my mom and ended up really upsetting her.

Hi under_believer and congratulations for stating your points concisely and logically. How would you rate your Mom's frustration with you? I would rate it a 4, so don't lose too much sleep over it. She still loves you and may have you over for dinner next week before the World ends. LOL

I wish you luck in fading and hope that you are able to reconcile with your husband. Have you read Raymond Franz's books (e.g, "Crisis of Conscience"), or Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves) or visited Steve Hassan's webiste (www.freedomofmind.com). Reading those books may help you to overcome your WTBTS induced phobias. the WTBTS has said a lot of things to try to keep JWs from learning the "Truth" about the WTBTS' Truth.

so an apostabuddy wanted to stage a silent protest at the assembly hall where she was baptized.

we went today.

the plan was to wear these apostate t-shirts that had stuff printed on them about thinking for yourself, and a bunch of websites.

How important is it to you that Lawence Hughes wins his case against the WT and doctors

Hi zengalileo, do you have anymore information about this case. I googled Lawence Hughes and did find his website (http://watchtowerlawsuit.com/) but did not find any informaiton later than 2008 about the court case.
