Is it normal to feel you have betrayed your spouse when you learn TTATT?

i am trying to look at it from a believing mates perspective.

they married you as a jw expecting you to continue as one.

if you have kids, she enjoyed the stability of both spouses being united.. when you learn ttatt, you find out the wt is a dangerous mind control group and lies to its members and is hypocritical.

BU2B - Same for my wife SD-7. I think being a JW is the only thing that gives her structure and a sense of accomplisment in life. If I could only find something to replace it for her.. I dont think she cares at all about false prophecy, misquotes, the UN thing because in her heart she is thinking, where else would I go.. The reality is that life can be so rich, filled with hobbies, adventures, helping out the elderly, homeless, sick children, orphans, even animals..

Hi BU2B, Prison, working on an assembly line, and being in the military also provide structure to people and does not victimize them with BITE control. The WTBTS indoctrinates JWs with thought-stopping platitudes to delude them that leaving the WTBTS is worse then death, because you will live forever after the Big "A" on Paradise Earth.

Instead of making all the plans for your wife, ask your wife simple questions to learn more about what she dreamt of doing as a child that was not a WTBTS approved activity. Then, help your wife to use the internet and read travel magizines to plan activities to do with more non-JWs. Add a little spice to your fun activities by surprising your wife with something that she may not have overtly expressed as wanting to do, but that you learned from listening to her authentic persona that she really wanted to do.

The more fun she has with you as a fading JW: the less inclined she will want you to return to the WTBTS.

Reverse Witnessing - Will NEVER work!

after a lot of 'tactful' questioning, i have come under the conclusion that witnessing ttatt with dubs will never work.

there is nothing called reasoning with them.

Confronting a "Spiritually Strong" (non-thinking) JWs about the WTBTS is a losing battle, so learn how to empower your greatist ally which is a JW's authentic persona. If this sounds confusing, then you need to study information from cult-exit counselors like Steve Hassan's methods by reading his books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visiting his website www.freedomofmind.com, and watching his FREE videos on his website like Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23) and How Big is the Phenomenon of Undue Influence? (2:01).

A good analogy of helping a JW to critically think for themselves, would be peeling layers from an onion. Slowly peel the layers of the WTBTS's BITE control, by:

Learning how to listen for a JW's authentic persona's perspective by asking JWs innocent, simple questions,
Learning how to turn-off a JW's cult persona by overcoming the WTBTS's thought-stopping platituces and by asking simple questions to make a JW question their own general statements of doom and gloom,
Helping a JW to enjoy life by meeting more non-JWs, who they share commone interests, and
Encouraging JWs to do time-consuming activities that their authentic person's enjoy more than attending WTBTS meetings.

Welcome Almond, Are you a JW? Does your GF love you more than the WTBTS?

Instead of you and your GF being victimized by the WTBTS, do the following:

Make your plan to slowly (or quickly) fade from the WTBTS. If your GF is a "Spiritually Strong" (non-thinking) JW, ask yourself if you want to be in a ménage à trois relationship with your GF's cult and authentic personas and you? Being married is difficult enough, but why enter a relationship that is guaranteed to be filled with unneccessary drama because your GF loves the WTBTS more than you?
Independently and thoroughly research the WTBTS. Visit reputable websites like www.jwfacts.com, www.freedomofmind.com, www.watchtowerdocuments.com, www.jwsurvey.org, and www.freeminds2.org.
Independently and thoroughly research dangerous cults, BITE control, and "undue influence". Instead of reading information by the WTBTS about cults, read information by cult-exit counselors like Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visiting this website www.freedomofmind.com, and watching his FREE videos on his website like Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23).
Vent your frustrations abou the WTBTS on JWN as much as possible to reduce the possibility of making your GF suspicious about your feelings and to learn how to help your GF to critically think for herself.
Warning: DO NOT show your GF information about TTATT and BITE control, ask her simple and innocent questions, and encourage her to do her own research. If you want to help your GF to critically think for herself, be patient and compassionate when you ask her simple questions to overcome the WTBTS's BITE control. Also, learn how to overcome WTBT's indoctrinated thought-stopping platitudes, so that you can strip away layers of the WTBTS's BITE control a little at a time.
Get more education/training so that you can qualify for a better paying career for your fiancial security and your family.
Do fun and entertaining activities where you will meet more non-JWs, who you share common interests. Life is short so enjoy it and live it, instead of being victimized by the WTBTS.

Translating JWFacts to Spanish... Update?

as you all may know, it is an ongoing project to translate jwfacts to spanish.

given that there are more than 2 spanish-speaking jw's for every one that speaks english, it can be safely said that spanish is the #1 language in the jw world (even though everything is made originally in english).. the spanish-speaking jw's are harder to convince.

i attribute it almost 100% to socioeconomic factors.

I wish I could translate from English to Spanish to help you. All I can do is offer you encouragement and praise for caring so much to help Spanish speaking JWs.

Have you asked Paul Grundy about advertising on JWfacts to recruit English to Spanish translators? If you could vete prospective translators and cordinate their work it might take less time. The main things are to have good quality control over the translations as well as greater transparency and accountability to differentiate JWfacts from the WTBTS. Something as simple as listing first names, last initials, and Province, Country of translators for different webpages could send a powerful message to readers.

Advice, Opinions, Please!

do any of you sometimes experience difficulty in shaking wt teachings?

like it intrudes in your daily life and thought and some things that may be alright, now you feel as if they're wrong or you plain just don't know.

i know the wt is a lie but i haven't lost my faith in god, i know he's there but it's hard knowing whats the right thing to do.

Hi mellojello, You are probably suffering from a form of PTSD, because of the WTBTS's BITE control. If you do not help yourself, time will help, venting on JWN will too, and talking with a cult-exit counselor may help you get through the process the quickest.

Have you considered talking with a cult-exit counselor like Steve Hassan, reading Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visiting his website www.freedomofmind.com, and watching his FREE videos on his website like Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23)? It took years for the WTBTS to indoctrinate you with WTBTS phobias and it may take years to get rid of them.

Do independent research of the WTBTS as well as "undue influence" and critical thinking; make more non-JW friends; join reputable volunteer or community organizations, and gyms; and start viewing life as an adventure instead of dreary and dreaded experience to reach the WTBTS's Paradise.

I'm postponing my JW elderette and her BS session again

i really do have more important things to do this week, so i am postponing my elderette again.

she has not yet contacted me for her "topic of discussion" for the week.

i know she wants time to prepare her speech and presentation.

Faithful Witness - Miss K seems like she is on-guard with me, and that she thinks I am going to ambush her with some "apostate" information or an article that she can't defend. She is even afraid to discuss WT publications with me. Last week, as she was leaving, she asked me to come up with a topic of discussion for our next meeting. When I asked if we could talk about a specific WT article that I found confusing, she said, "Well, if we do that, then you aren't really going to be learning what the BIBLE says..." It didn't really hit me, until hours later, that she had just admitted to me that the Watchtower magazine isn't teaching you what it says in the Bible.

The battle between a JW's cult and authentic persona is amazing and you should be prepared to take advantage of those opportunities all the time with innocent and simple questions! JWs don't need to read non-WTBTS approved information to have doubts about the WTBTS. They just need to hear their own contradictions by you repeating what they said and asking them why they feel that way or did you correctly hear what they said. Let them know that what they tell you privately is between you and them and no body else.

Star Trails

one of the things that i have only done once... but i would love to do again and again until i perfect the technique, is called star trails.. my camera is a canon 60d.

there is a way to "hack" the canon dslr's so that they get some amazing functionalities, such as taking a picture just by clapping (really cool for when you want to take a picture and no one is able to push the button) and taking pictures at certain intervals.. you can read more about this "hacking" on .

You are gaining a lot of great experience Faithful Witness with your two elderettes so that you can eventually help your family to critically think for themselves. I'm proud of your progress and desire to help your JW family and other JWs to critically think for themselves.

Just remember:

That your emotional health and happiness, and your family's happiness and welfare come first!
Learn how to control your emotions and adapt your plan(s) while listening to your elderettes like Steve Hassan says in his video Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23) .
Learn how to listen compassionately to your elderettes' authentic personas, so that you can ask effective and simple questions to empower their authentic personas to critically think for themselves.
Learn how to overcome thought-stopping platitudes and confront JWs about using generalities by asking them simple questions so that they question their cult personas' persepective.
Relate your personal experience with your family to your elderettes and how you cannot understand how your sister treats you and your family and can say that she is a Chirstian, who follows the teachings and examples of Jesus Christ. Your opinions are valid. If your elderettes start talking down to you, try to get their authentic personas to see your prespective, ask them specific questions for them to justify their prespective using the teachings of Jesus Christ, and/or show them Steve Hassan's video How Big is the Phenomenon of Undue Influence? (2:01). It should be very difficult for your elderettes' authentic personas to justify prejudice and bigotry based on Christianity without bringing reproach on the WTBTS.
Learn how to turn their cult personas on and off.

Studied with JW grandma for 3 years and went to meetings, I have now seen the light!

im new here and im 17, going to turn 18 in 1 week.

i studied with my gradma the bible teach book and went to meeting with her and other relatives (considering most my relatives are jw except my parents) and i believe in all of it because i never read the bible for myself.

after reading the gospels i started noticing contradictions in the jw doctrine like when jesus said many would dine with the patriachs in the kingdom of heaven (yet only 144,000 jws can) which would seem odd considering the fact he adressed this to more then the apostles.

Welcome yogosans14 and thanks for sharing your insights. IMHO it is better to follow Jesus Christ's advice of following God's Greatist Commandments in Mt 22:37-40 to interpret the scriptures instead of using WTBTS propaganda. It is hard to follow an organization's doctrines when God's Greatist Commandment is to Love God with "ALL" your heart, mind, and soul. There is no room for blindly following an organization's doctrines or its leaders.

If most of your relatives are JWs, you are very lucky that your parents are not JWs. Why are your parents not JWs and why do they let your Grandmother take you to the meetings?

Although the WTBTS refers to itself as a religion, it is more of a printing, print distribution, and real estate holding corporation that uses BITE control techniques to victimize JWs just like the Pharises and Sadducees did to the Jews during the time of Jesus Christ. If you independently research the WTBTS's history through reputable websites like www.jwfacts.com, www.freedomofmind.com, www.watchtowerdocuments.com, www.jwsurvey.org, and www.freeminds2.org, you will be more shocked than what you learned by comparing WTBTS propaganda to the Bible.
