a lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.

Even years ago there weren't many JWs that were interested in the 'deeper things', mainly because it was too difficult to understand. It is interesting that the only place that these 'deeper things' were usually taught was at the home book study meeting.
The main theme these days is to obey, obey, obey. It's such a simple message and the only thing that the organization really wants.

When you hear talks like this you become aware that these desperate Governing Body members know exactly what they are doing and it is far from being loving and christian.

while it was difficult, we promised to stick together through it, work our way toward marraige, and eventually return.
Your set of elders are encouraging you to marry and her set of elders are telling her to seperate. It couldn't be more obvious that this organization has no idea how to be guided by Holy Spirit. The fact that your girlfriend still wants to follow these guys isn't because she is putting God first but for some other reason.

We don't know what the JWs told this couple. If they did lie then it is not too late to remedy the situation.
article is basicqlly about families where a spouse is working away from home for an extended period, etc...a foot note says basically that some studies have shown that working away from home can cause serious consequences, such as infidelity, homosexuality, or incest.

Thank you for the recording. It makes it clear that they have set up a different Covenant, one very similar to the Old Covenant. You must obey the Governing Body and the laws that they have set down.

i just read an older post on this site that was recently bumped (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/6600/1/don-adams-biography) the post mentioned the adams brothers don, karl, & joel and how influential they are/were at headquarters.
The Governing Body members are no longer Directors on the WTBTS. The WTBTS controls all the money and assets as well as much more. They are the recognized legal entity by law.
If the WTBTS decided to ignore the Governing Body then the Governing Body would need to sue the WTBTS in order to gain control, if it is at all possible and recognized in the current Charter. The Governing Body members do not have much money to fight the WTBTS.
I am unable to find the current WTBTS Charter. The only one that I can find is the 1945 Charter but there have been a number of changes made to that since then. It would be insightful to know how the Charter currently addresses the authority of the Governing Body.
Does anyone know why the 1945 Charter is readily available but the current charter is not?
i am just so amazed at how 'stoopid' the average witness is as they get sucked into the hype of a special campaign work!.
especially amazing is the one about to start in our neck of the world!.
everyone is 'encouaged' (pushed and made to feel guilty if they dont.
it's also much cheaper for the organization to have the sheepies hand out leaflet's rather than magazines.
